I just want you to know I'm not dissing fanfic downloader. I love their downloadable program & use it all the time. Especially when doing mass downloads of say someone's favorites list. I can open up 6 or so windows of ff downloader & when you right click on the story & click on "copy url location", it automatically copies it into ff downloader. So easy.

But and this is a big BUT, it doesn't work on TWCS, AO3, Twilighted, or any other sites that everyone is moving to

That's when I use flagfic. Flagfic is also faster if you only want one or two stories.

I have to admit I have tried fanfic downloader but with me being a mac user the software was so glitchy that I gave up! I don't like to download software onto my hard drive so I tend to just use FLAG for everything, even though it takes much longer. I also really hate the way a story look when you use that downloader program and I've gotten used to the way FLAG looks. I know that's silly, but if it doesn't look good I'm less inclined to read it! I hate when the copy flows right to the end of the page - I need margins and white space! Is there something about the downloader that you other mac users know that I don't? Would love to hear if it works for you...

yeah, but I usually download EPUBs withfanfictiondownloader and PDFs with flag, with TWCS I have to use flagfic for both and my IP was blocked once because I went a little crazy with downloading

*hides face in embarrassment* Yeah, I was banned from using storymaster. Same reason. Ff downloader doesn't use any computer but my own. I also like that there is no record of what I've downloaded with it. Is that too paranoid of me LOL!?

I'm a PC girl all the way. I still have an old ibook g4 but I can never get it to do what I want it to do without crashing. And what it can do, the PC does better. So I can't be much help. I also normally download mobi. The newer versions of ff downloader are just as pretty as flagfic though without the funky cover. Mobi or epub both come out good & are smaller file size than PDF. And they convert easily.

I'm looking for a fic from a few years ago, and of course I can't remember the title or the author. Jacob is a Dom. He used to be Bella's Dom. Nessie is Bella's much younger half sister. Jacob treats her as a little sister: driving her to school and to Mass, correcting her behavior, etc. As she nears high school graduation his feelings become romantic. They marry right after her graduation and they honeymoon on a cruise. They skirt the edges of BDSM and settle into a more domestic discipline lifestyle. Oh yeah, and Nessie is filthy rich and Jacob is a mechanic.

Has anyone ever heard of this fic?

Quick question, what do you mean that "there is no record of what I've downloaded"? Can you explain how that works? Also how did you get banned from Storymaster?
I guess I'm a little paranoid too when I download and want to know the best and safest way. When I download a lot I usually freak out a bit, wondering if the site or even my internet provider will be uspet. Haha.

Well, they can probably trace your IP address. But with flagfic if you do a straight download & with ff downloader it doesn't put your name on it anywhere that I can see. Storymaster puts your email address in the info page which I don't like. I got banned for doing multiple downloads by author. It runs through his personal computer not a server, so he see what you download. Also, since it would sometimes take a week before I got the zip file, I would re-request it. So too many duplicates.

Your Internet provider shouldn't be too upset unless you are on a limited plan. Downloading stories takes less bandwidth than some of those online games with all the graphics.

As far as safe, I have not had any issues with ff downloader. I do like that it does it all on my computer. So no one can complain I'm killing their server or computer.

Hope this helps a bit. I'm not an IT guru, but I've fixed a lot of my own computers and done a lot of reasearch on this stuff.

hat about saving a lot of the pdfs uploaded on this site? Does that interfere with anything or is it any worry for your internet provider? As you can see I'm not very techy!

Is this an E&B fic? I can do angst if there is an HEA at the end. And nobody dies. Well, I guess peripheral characters can die, just not E&B. LOL - I've become a wimp! I could look it up but it's easier to ask you guys!

Yeah it is a Edward & Bella story. And the author promised a HEA because she believes in them and has a lot of angst and I do mean a LOT anyway so far no character death so it is good

Well, all this stuff is traceable if you really want to trace it and you are tech savvy. I am not that tech savvy to know how to do it, but I've been to enough IT training to know it can be done with the right programs. Mostly? it's not an issue. They expect you to download this stuff and as it is not really covered by copyright law, they can't do much. However, ebooks are covered by copyright law, so if someone were to look at all that stuff, we might have problems. Which is why there are no more ebooks here.

But mostly what I am talking about? Storymaster has your email address when you sign up to use his service. And he puts that email address in every story he downloads for you. So if you share that story, it will have your email address on it. So you share it with me, and I share it with someone I know who then shares it with someone she knows, etc.... pretty soon some stranger has your email address. I don't like that.

When you do a straight download on Flagfic, it knows the IP address the story is being downloaded to, but not your name or email. However, when you download a story from Twilighted or TWCS using Flagfic, you have to sign into that site first to get a downloadable url. I'm not sure if there is capturable information in that url. And, of course, if you email it to your email or kindle, he will have that address.

You should never use your primary personal email for these things, just in case. Always set up an account at gmail, hotmail, or yahoo with a non-identifiable name to use with this stuff in case they sell it or worse. And don't put a lot of personal information on this account when you sign up. You don't need to give them your phone number for alerts.

A lot of this is just basic safety stuff. You never know who is out there. And yes, I watch way too much Criminal Minds, CSI, Law & Order,.... But I've also attended conferences where they talk about true life stuff and it is very scary. Better safe than sorry.

I am really, well enjoying does not sound right. But darn, Edward is so sweet. And it is so sad, especially her reactions to some things. But so far? Even though I can guess the horrible things she's been through? Yeah, it isn't too bad. I can deal with this kind of story because I know she is safe now. Kind of like Torn by Dooba or Wide Awake.

I know I'm probably in the minority of readers who enjoy E/B cheating fics. I like the angst that accompanies these stories, esp when written well. However...
I'm reading one and Edward is such a pussy and is blaming the entire thing on himself when there are two people involved. I get that's it's fiction and not reality, but frik, it takes two to tango so to speak. I really, really , really hate that Edward is made to be the jerk and Bella is the one he's grovelling too. She's the one he cheated on his wife with! The hell? *huffs* They both are at fault, they both hurt each other and the others around them! I personally think that if an author is going to write a cheater fic they should have both points of view. Now I want to punch Bella and hug Edward.

Sorry, it's just so frustrating to read this and not want to say something to the author. I will never flame or leave an ugly review because things p!ss me off. The saying goes "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" I don't like when people leave mean reviews. The authors have the balls to put stuff out there, it should at least be respected. IMO

However as I type this out I feel like a hypocrite

I don't like cheating fics, when E or B cheat on each other. I can deal with them cheating together, cause they belong together.

The last cheating fic I flounced was one E got a bj and it wasn't considered cheating. I felt like screaming at the author and her readers, it was a period fic and some readers said it was ok cause that was how it was back then....

Edward has a free pass for everything, he can rape, cheat, kill, etc and it still ok. I flounce those fics.
