Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

I'm currently reading Take the Ice by Bellamarie117 and I'm considering flouncing.  This a story where Bella is a figure skater and Edward is currently a hockey player.  Even though it's from Bella's POV, he still comes off as nearly flawless and recently that aspect, perfect Edward or Bella, has really bothered me in fic.

I'm about a fifth of the way through, but the pacing just seems sluggish.

I had to put this book aside for quite a while (nearly a year so far), I'm not sure if I'm ready to flounce it completely. I still have it on my Kindle. But, the reason I had to set it aside was b/c it was droning on and on, seemingly taking forever. Chapters were too long for me and I wasn't able to really get into it. So you're right, the pace was a bit too slugish for me as well.

Yep.  I don't mind chapters about daily life and struggles, which for this Bella is actually appropriate, but there's no advancement in the plot.  I really like the concept, heck, I wish someone would fic "The Cutting Edge" the movie with Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney, but this is just reads like a huge run on sentence.

Oooh yeah! It would be great if someone did fic "The Cutting Edge" I loved that movie. And it would be so much better with Bella & Edward.

Come join us on the discussion thread.  I know our discussion can be a little intimidating - especially when Loopy starts sharing (love ya Loopy!)  And sometimes we talk about *gasp* real books, but if you start a discussion about a story, eventually you will get a response.  Somedays, it is a little slow, other days, there will be 10 pages....  :D :D :D :D :D :D

Well, you certainly seem to be following the "go forth and procreate" edict.  So, I think as long as we leave "innocent" out of the equation, we can believe the rest of it. *snort*

I'm like this >< close to flouncing a fic that was rec'd on a fanfic rec'ing site. I tried, really tried to read it. I'm about 18% into the story and any time a sentence SHOULD start with an "AS" there is an "HAS" instead. I let it go for a while thinking it was a auto correct issue or just a one time thing. But, it isn't. It is done several times a chapter and throughout the entire 18% of the book I've read. It isn't just in BPOV but in EPOV too.  But, that isn't why I'm close to flouncing.  There is more.  It reads like an instruction manual or a to do list. Like the character is checking off a to do list as they go through out the day.

I went inside to take a shower. I ate breakfast, eggs as usual. I went to work.

Okay, so it wasn't those exact words but it is exactly like that. It is stiff. Boring. I can definitely understand describing how the day goes but all this I did this, I did that. It is boring me to death.  What is sad is there is a plot idea to it. But, it is taking its sweet time to get there. And even as it is getting there finally on this last chapter I started, it is flat out unbelievable. I'm not believing that a owner & CEO of his company is going to make up a position for a girl just b/c he wants her to be his sub. I also have a hard time with how she has had one partner before and keeps referring to what Edward wants to do to her (be her Dom) as beating the shit out of her.  If she really thought that... would she have let him just go down on her in his office, during work hours and also being their first ever sexual experience and before they were in an actual relationship?

It is a testament to how little there has been to read lately that you have lasted this long.  What Fic is it so we can all be forewarned?

You are right, there is little to read lately. Nothing is capturing my attention be it WIP or Complete lately.

It is Black Silk Tie by sospecial21 and was rec'd by Ms. Swan's Bookstore.  It shocks me that it has well over 3,000 reviews.

There have been many fics with a lot of reviews that I thought weren't good and other great fics with almost no reviews  that I loved - there is no logic to it.

I think a lot of it has to do with popularity of the author, among other things, as opposed to how good a story or chapter is. Some authors just get a bunch of reviews, almost regardless of what they post.  I know that I generally review about 1 out of 20 chapters I read and only if I have something substantive to say. I also believe there's a decent amount of readers who just want fluff and romance, and while there's nothing wrong with that, they oftentimes don't care for something more substantive.

I've tried to read The Ex Factor about 10 times and just can't get into it and since it is almost 800k words, I have no desire to push through or skim.  Obviously many people liked it, it has over 9,000 reviews.

Funny, I just stumbled upon this fic and tried to give it a go. NO, NO, NO. I guess multiple point of views were really popular back in 09 to get the story from everyone, but this tale was painful. There's even a mention of it being uncanon in the summary, but from what I skimmed it was like a complete personality rehaul for everyone. That alone is enough reason for me to flounce. It's like reading soap opera fanfic with the names of Twilight characters.

Wordless ......FLOUNCABLE.  Wrong words, not just misspelled but totally confusing. Boring teenybopper story. Goes to Olive Garden for a Prom dinner. Give me a break. Constand a/a about making changes many chapters before. Why did I down load this? dont know

Question... I'm reading my first ever counselor fanfic (Look How You Turned Out) and I need to know, is this her usual writing style for each fan fic or just this one story?

I don't know about usual, but assuming you're taking about that detached third person style that she uses, I've seen it used in some of her other stories as well.

I've had trouble reading her stuff. It works for the historical stories, well they are okay, but I just have trouble getting into them. It's almost like a factual telling rather than more story like. But I know a lot of people love her writing.   :-\

Yes, exactly. The detached telling of the story. It is random and not consistent, and a little confusing at times.  Is that how all her stories are?

I didn't flounce. I read the entire story even though the "Frig" instead of "Fridge" or "Refrigerator", was bugging me to death. But, thankfully after chapter 68 she started calling it a fridge.

I liked the plot quite a bit. Just found it hard to get into since it was so detached and a bit scrambled.
