I know I'm a little late coming to the party - damn time zones and long work days! - but I use the thanks button a bit like the "like" button on facebook. If I agree, if you make me laugh, if I too am obsessed with a certain pair of feet and 10 long toes...

Demaris, I have a feeling that I might be old enough to be your mother - or maybe a really cool aunt - but I would cut you if you stole those feet  >:D

Errr? I'm sorry, but, no one mentioned or noticed his feet until i did! So I call first dibs..(you can tell I'm an only child!) I've already said Ella can be a second pattie, and I'm crap at sharing, but you Astro? Sorry, this time you are defo too late to the party!   >:D

I've just re-read what I wrote and thought, "we really are a bunch of loons"  :D :D

Hey all,

just wanted to add that on ff.net it is possible to sort by the # of reviews, follows and favorites. Just go the usual way (Books - Twilight) and then, on the left, there is a box labelled "Sort: Update Date". Click there and you will be able to sort by publish date, number of reviews, favorites and follows. I've attached a screenshot to prove it :)

I'm also one of those who have learned the hard way that the # of reviews doesn't say anything about the quality of the writing (in both Twilight and Harry Potter fandom). Still, I sometimes use this for fun. The sad thing is that if I sort by # of favorites, there are only four stories on the first two pages that never made it to my tbr list.

Yep - mega loons! But I posted the pic so I actually have first dibs - but you can have the little pinky toe on his left foot.

See - I can share  :-*

And yay for me for not mentioning anything about what's between his two big toes

Wow. Never knew that. Thanks for sharing that nugget of information. Still think that sorting by favourites and reviews is mostly a useless exercise though. You end up missing so many great fics and blindly reading so many crap ones this way....

Honestly I am torn between responding in a way that encourages us to continue down this crazy road or just shutting up so that we can pretend to have some semblance of a normal functioning brain; guess which won out?

Posting the picture does not give you first dibs, so there!  :P

Lolashoes Trilogy
« Reply #1488 on: November 05, 2012, 03:27 AM »
Finally finished the last of Lolashoe's trilogy. If I haven't said it strongly enough then I'll reiterate. READ it NOW! Let Your Light Shine is the best but the other two stories are really worth reading also. Lolashoes takes Myers' creations and knocks them out the ball park...every one of them is better under her penmanship..I don't tend to read vamp twifics for some reason, maybe because my introduction to fandom was via a AH story and I've carried on in the same vein but I've so enjoyed this that I'm going to start another Vamp twific next....not sure which yet but, whatever!  :D

There are some communities on ffn that point out fics with 1000+ reviews if you want to go that route.  Here are a couple:

I like the underappreciated fics community to find some gems: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

If you only want completed fics, there's this one: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

What I like about the communities is that someone else has done some of the legwork for you.  You still have to decide if you're interested in anything they're recommending.

I just started the second book last night and I'm loving it!
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I agree with you completely...  can't believe how much better the story compared to the originals!

Thanks for the link too! I got the other two that are listed there by LolaShoes.

I finished Golden Moon last night, and adored it. I think it's the first fic I've read that kept the same FEEL that the original trilogy had. It had that sense of innocence of first love that I've been searching for. It's like she took Meyer's world and just went deeper. The characters were still very much who they were in the original stories, with the exception of Alice.

Does anyone know if the author ever wrote that Mike story mentioned at the end? There's not much on her FF profile other than stuff about plagiarism, and nothing updated since around 2010. Is she another one that just stopped, or does she have a blog somewhere I could follow?

With all the talk about those Lolashoes stories, I might have to stick my nose out of my Jasper fog and give them a shot. I just realized last night that I have yet to read a single fic with Vamp Edward as the main love interest? All my Edward stories have been human, and my vamp stories have all been Jasper ones.

I'm afraid mine is already out of control... I've sent a ton of fics to my Kindle and then when I look at them all I have no idea what to read next.   Then I see more recommendations on here and add more.  LOL   I think fanfic might be slightly addicting!  :D

So, Golden Moon is a Jasper fic, right?  I am still new to this fanfic stuff so I'm sticking to Vamp Edward for a while longer.   You should definitely check out LolaShoes trilogy!  I felt the same way about it as you did about Golden Moon...   the same feel as the books!  Edward still had that old world charm and their relationship was very new to them both.

Yep, it's a Jasper fic, and, IMO, would be the perfect "starter fic" to try out a story about these two. It was very well done, and I felt the evolution of their romance was very natural.

Has anyone who's read Golden Moon read Lacrimosa Moon's "continuation" story, Searching For Daylight? I'm curious if it has the same feel, if it's a worthy follow up? (and for the love of God, are their any lemons? that's my ONLY complaint about GM, no lemons!)

Maybe it's because I'm old.  But Carlisle is HOT.  All the Cullen men are.  Yep *nods head*.  I give them all equal opportunity to do dirty things...

Don't worry dear, I also think Carlisle can be super hot! Especially after reading fics by ItHappened. Yum! ;)
Who needs Olderward when you can have Carlisle?

I'm REALLY going to have to figure out a better way to keep track of things. Just yesterday, I was searching through lists on FF.net, adding stories. I read the first chapter of several fics that looked good, but like an idiot, I didn't think to mark the ones I was most interested in.
