So far I have only done completed Fan Fiction that I had on my computer, so a least now I'll know to start a new library for "normal" books.  I have also added a Flounced column for fics I've started and the date I flounced, that way when a fic is marked "not read" I also know I tried...Jesus! This is a Project with a capital P!

Hum...don't think I have flounced but two. But then again, it has to be rec'd a ton by people I trust, or an author I know to read it anyway.

But you are correct. It is a project with a capital P.

Who got us started on this anyway?
What made me think I could tackle it in a few hours? :-[

Errrr? I think that might have been me? I asked last night how people were storing their stories and sexy Matron came back with her great method on Calibre...But look at it this way once it's done, you'll feel so much better! :-*

The big question! If you were to become a dad tomorrow, would you prefer to have a girl or a boy first?
I think that I'd have a better understanding with a boy. Girls are hard to understand. The instruction manual that comes with them is 800 pages long and written in Chinese! And if you know how to read it, you realise that you're still missing 32 more chapters that are essential and you have to improvise. Whereas with a boy, it's easy. Sports, tv, a video game, a big bowl of ...., some Coke and he's happy *laughs*!

LMAO !

O that wasn't too bad to redo.
I too created a library called Calibre FF and checked the box to keep same setup.
Added my new custom columns.
Then I went back to my original library.
Held the shift key and grabbed all that I wanted.
Then right clicked and hit copy to new Calibre FF and delete after copy.
Voila.

*wipes forehead* ok now to keep tagging.
Well I started doing it your way, then realized all the URL's I input in to the FFdownloader part would probably stay with the old library, I did just the opposite. I wasn't sure I could remember all the URL's to re-add them.  :-\

But thanks for letting us know how you are doing this.  I'm finding it to be a great help in figuring this thing out  :-*

And one thing I LOVE about Calibre is it will download from TWCS.

Gracious me, I haven't even started downloading ff yet, I am just trying to get everything imported and tagged. Maybe it will be complete before bedtime, but I doubt it. I figured it is best to clean up, before adding more.

Another idea I thought of while editing, which I will have to go back and do....

Add a column (yes/no) if it is a oneshot
Add a column (yes/no) if it is an outtake

or just create tags for them

I just started reading The Real Life of E.A. Masen - and I'm having a hard time putting it down to get some stuff done that needs to be done.  Mostly humorous.  Lots of flashbacks.  E & B have been married for around 20 years & Edward makes a living as a p0rn um erotic romance writer.  But no one knows.  Well, Rose, Bella & Emmett. And of course he and Bella have to test stuff out before he writes it. LOL! Not too graphic so far.  And Jasper hates E.A. Masen because real guys aren't like that.

They have teenage kids - so there is the joy of the sex talks.  Yeah.  :D :D :D ;D

The Real Life of E A Masen
Edward Cullen - to most, he's a boring book editor but he's really an elusive romance novelist with an erotic flair. When he's not writing p0rn I mean romance, he's just a guy who's married to his high school sweetheart and father of three teens. Rated: M

Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Humor - Chapters: 34 - Words: 185,899 - Reviews: 1912 - Updated: 10-4-12 - Published: 4-24-12 - Bella & Edward

Ella! Soo glad you shared this fic  :D I'm laughing my ass off reading this little gem. This is also the best Daddyward fic I've read in a while.  :-*

Hmm. That would work.  I was hoping I could have it  automatically put in number of chapters, but it wasn't an option that was showing as available.  :-\

Gosh, you guys are just so organized! Can't even begin to comprehend how to do that. The fics i've hoarded are not even properly labeled as its a mix match of title author or author title depending on how the one who posted it named it. Also, some have + or _ in the titles. So it is difficult to search using the windows search companion. Will see if i can follow what you guys did in calibre and try it next weekend. Thanks for the tips!

Um, I was using the ffdownloader plugin for Calibre. So it checks when you ask it to then it asks if you want to update the library & I said yes.  All done. Right in the library you set up.

I tried using the downloader on Calibre but when it finished "downloading" I couldn't find the story in the library, I spent most of last night downloading my favourites stories on FF.net singly on Flag. That's 4 hours of life I'll never get back!!!

Strike that! just tired it again and it worked!! must have been too tired at 03.30am!  :-[ :021:

I'm reading Out of Sight, Out of Mind by Simaril right now You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I think it deserves more reviews than it has.

I like reading multi-chapter fics so I want my HEA.  Life's rough enough as it is so I have no desire to deal with heartache in my 'recreational' time.

I'm pretty much anything goes apart from that as long as the writing is good.  I enjoy non-canon because I think it's really nice to explore the other characters - though I haven't really gotten into reading about wolf pack main characters.  I prefer the vamps :)

I also like angst and UST.  I don't mind lemons, but they can get repetitive and unrealistic.  I don't particularly enjoy High School fics, or fics with children.  HS was too long ago for me and I have young children so I get seriously annoyed with how they don't seem to take up any of B&E's time in fics...

Great idea to start a discussion thread, Ella :)

I already read this one and I have to say it brought me to tears. but overall I liked it. I really like my angsty stories but if they have HEA that's a rule with me, if not I flounce

I love Savage's stories, too.  I like how she knows where she wants a story to go and isn't affecting by reviews.

Another non-HEA to avoid

Bella is given to Edward as a birthday present for his 16th birthday. He promises her that he will love her and never hurt her. Will he be able to keep his promise or will a dark secret tear them apart before their relationship can develope? Dark Edward.

Lol I remeber flouncing this one: First I was ok, but then I needed my HEA so I went ahead and read the ending which I was like  :sign0135: :wtf: and then flounced

I'm reading Out of Sight, Out of Mind by Simaril. On about chapter 5. I guess it's canon.  Good so far.   ;)

Oh this one is soo good; is so well written I wanted to read it again.... Probably will  ^-^

Oh and thanks Ella for making this board to discuss the likes, dislikes and rec'd a few fanfics   :-*

My TBR list keeps growing lol

Is good to hear what others think of the fics you really want to read... I must say that as far as His Cinnemirian View I really was expecting something else from it. The writting... well lets just say that this one promised something but didn't deliver. But if you want to judge for yourselfs please do.

I completely agree with you. I think the flounce-ability of this fic is down to the rather juvenile quality of the writing. It need a more mature style/language ...all that childish name calling? No, just, no!

Yes also it got to a point where I think it could of be a whole a lot shorter there where so many chapters there that weren't necessary. At least for me.

It's sad because this story really seem promising. It got me thinking that it aplies the whole don't judge a book by it's cover... In this case don't judge a fanfic from it's summary

WOW. You and Ella are a lot further along in this process than I am. I have 126 more fics to tag, review, edit, etc. Good news is that I got done 827 yesterday. I have not even exploded all the zip files yet we have by alphabet. I am sure that is several thousand. How did you get done so fast? I am having to fix authors, etc. that didn't come in correct. Then I want to check for duplicates.

I haven't even attempted to pull my dropbox, 4shared, etc in either.

Does that mean I have too many ?

I am happy about the discussions for the ff His Cimmarian View and have removed it from my TBR list. There is just too dang many to read, to have to struggle through one.

There was also a discussion around mamasutra. I have only read one of hers and I read it as a wip. It was Sin. Great fic, wish she took the time to edit/beta, but I really enjoyed the fic. You mean it is the only HEA she has written?

Man...which some master editor could create a file that had HEA - yes/no and maybe my TBR list could be shortened. I don't mind angst, none of it, just as long as I have that HEA.
