I hope that was the reason... I thought the site was gone. I even googled it. I haven't read a cross over may have to check some out. I used to watch VD but lost interest when I dumped tv and starting downloading programs  ^-^

I am pissed though, someone is writing a Twi fic that is like Sons of Anarchy  :o I tried to read it but I was so "you aren't getting this right! That's not how the characters are!"  >:( I flounced

Don't get me started on that fic  >:( >:( >:( I'm pissed about the non updating

Which fic is this? I LOVE LOVE LOVE SOA so it really sucks that it's not a great fic, if they did it right, that could be an awesome crossover/characters.

SoA is about a motorcycle gang. It's soooo good. It has Peggy Bundy in it :)

I don't subscribe to cable anymore, I download all my shows. They're usually ready the same night so I'm just a few hours behind. Way better, no commercials and most shows are 20 mins to 40 mins

What program do you use? SOA is such an amazing show, I still need to watch seasons 4 and 5, we moved and I lost them all off my dvr  >:( >:(

The fic is pretty much like season one, so to me it's boring. I've already watched it so I would have liked a different spin. It's not a crossover because the Twilight gang is the MC *shrugs* I didn't like it. It's a WIP so maybe when more is written I'll give it a go again. It was recc'd on TLS

I'm not sure what fic savanablue was talking about, but I recently added You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login The Pull by janiedoe12 to my WIP follow list, the author describes it as Twilight meets SOA. Might be worth a read/follow Nope, that's the bad one. Oops.

Okay, so somehow last night I managed to read the worst lemon ever. Bad lemons are usually funny
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
but this one.. no. I can't even remember what it was called, it was just so terrible. Edward seemed to have some magic-peen that could double as a third leg and Bella had so many orgasms I worried her ovaries might explode. No grown man should ever refer to a woman's lady parts as a kitty. Jog on.

Anyway, to combat my whining here's a WIP rec! Just Call Me Bella by ocdmess (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) Summary: "To work her way through college, Bella Swan takes a job as a phone sex operator. One night an upset, drunk man calls. When he keeps calling, night after night, she starts to grow attached. Soon she has to decide: is he worth breaking the golden rule?" - fluffy angst and the promise of adult situations. It looks promising, it only has 7 chapters so far but seems to be updating most days.

Thanks! So the author just basically inserted twilight characters for the MC and then followed season one? That does sound...boring. I'll add it to alerts and maybe it will get better

Have you tried this one: In Places No One Will Find by CarrieCee
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

The author actually pulled the fic because of the flames she received
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
but she then completed it and emailed it around.

Shoot! I've got In Places, I forgot all about it...I'm not sure I'm in enough of a funk today, yesterday Mercliless kinda cured me of my Bella Hater Syndrome.

I don't know why spoilers upset me so much? I'm like  :pulling I WANT TO DISCOVER THE PLOT FOR MYSELF! Do you think it's part of Only Childitis? I might need to book an appointment with a shrink, I seem to be suffering from all kinds of psychosis ::).  Bear with me ladies I'm sure there's a pill for it  :D

Did anyone actually read the fic?
From that summary? Nope...

Well, either you have a really good memory or you haven't read enough partial fanfics to be totally confused enough to not remember all the summaries.  I think this is why I have no problem with reading the end of a story before I read it. :)

And? After a while, they all seem alike....  There really are only so many plots out there.... :P

But good luck with the drugs  :D :D :D :D :D :D

:D :D My point exactly, there are only so many plots to write around; so if I've already been told every minutia of a story that can only have just so much "surprise" in it's favour, what is the point of reading it? In the same way, I pay no attention to trailers of films I want to watch or indepth reviews of books I want to read...I like to approach it all with a clean slate/open mind. Ella you know I'm an FP I haven't got that many partially read fic in my memory bank (Screamers might be one of 5) but trust me, I don't remember ANY of their summaries!  :D :D

Okay, so I've been using FFdownloader in Calibre to download WIPs I'm following, as well as completed stuff I may want to read,  & I just realized in one of the recent updates to the program, they added a lot of metadata that it will pull, such as status, number of chapters, characters,.... Really great stuff.

So I added columns, updated the plugin, configured it and everything. Then I go back to my library and try to get it to go back to FFnet to get this information.  I try everything - regular update, look for URL then update, remove the "update if new",  :021: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :33: :33: :pulling

Sigh....it only works on new additions.  I have a whole heck of a lot of stories in here.   >:( >:( >:(

@#$#%$&$$   Okay, I feel a little better now.  Thanks ;)

That's the thing...I started filling in extra columns with status (complete/WIP), characters, chapters, etc... manually. It was taking forever.  Now I find it will pull all this info from FFnet automatically.  Only it won't do it on the stuff I've already downloaded.  So now I will have duplicates that I don't have to fill in stuff on.  So I will need to delete all the duplicate stuff.  Which, I guess, is a heck of a lot easier than updating all that metadata.   :-\

It isn't too hard, but you have to create columns first. Then assign the columns to the data in the configuration area.  When this thing finally finishes, I can probably do some instructions.  ;D

Could be.  I did just update.  Can you add columns - user specified?  I want to say right click, but I know that's not an option.  I right click in the column title area & one of the choices is to add columns.

Then in ffdownloader there is a tab to assign metadata to columns in addition to the basic stuff.  Some things that can be added is last date updated ;)  This makes me happy as originally? I was only using calibre to track WIPs and convert PDFs. ;D

It all made sense until the FFdownloader, I don't have the "assign metadata to columns", well not that i can see anyway  ;D

It's under configure. When you click the down arrow on the plugin & it gives you the optios like "get from url".  When you open it, there are tabs at the top and at the end are two arrows. Click on the one pointing to the right. I think it was the last or second to the last tab that had the options. But you have to have the extra columns first or there is nothing there.  I think the tab is called "Other"

LOL! It's at 90% now, so maybe it will be done in an hour??  I can check then.  I have an old iBook, but the inability to right click drove me crazy ;)

It's a lady flower, as my Nan calls it  :o Moving on..

I think Calibre is so overly complicated. I mostly use it to store/categorise completed fics and then follow any WIPs on the fanfiction website. If I want something on my kindle that I don't have archived I just send it directly there using flagfic.

Ahhh, I see what you mean, I get; it but I have to agree with laurendeplume it is one beetch-arse complicated system! I'm using it in the exact same way laurendeplume, it stores my completed fics with the correct tags etc put WIPs I keep on FF.net.

that's how I started out. Until my Kindle died. I got a new one, but I had to start all over with the sorting. Also, if you have too many books/stories on it, it crashes.

And then I started using Calibre to remove the DRM off my Kindle books.  I didn't like that I paid money for books that they controlled. But it wasn't until RDMickey got me started, that I used it for fanfiction.
