i remember, I think we might have all started on the same weekend, but it's clear you use yours a help of a lot more comprehensively that I do..I'm going to play around with it a bit and see if I can make it work for me, I really like it I think it's a great piece of software.  I just keep stuff on my iPad (I use Kindle for iPad) until I've read it, then I send it up to iCloud and remove it from my device..

You might think "you don't have small children" but it was the very first book I can remember being read to me; I had no idea you could get it electronically (0.99p!) and my original is well...held together by a pray in an attic somewhere, I think...Read the part where Skin Horse tells the Rabbit about what it take to become 'real' and cried You never know I might get stuck with overseeing a small rug rat at Christmas 

This reminds me of reading The Giving Tree to a cousin and crying while she sat alarmed by my reaction and then asked her Mum not to let me babysit anymore. Too many feelings! I can't remember if I've read/been read the story you mentioned.. now I feel I've missed out on a milestone.

Okay, so Calibre with fanfiction.  First you have to add the FFdownloader.  Also I like Count Pages.

I added the following columns by right clicking at the top of the columns in Calibre:
Type of Edward
Type of Bella
Book Type
# of Chapters
Pages (use Count pages plugin for this)
Words
TBR List
Read
Reading
Favorite
Genre
Type
Status
Characters
Story ID
Relationships - this one didn't work for some reason so you can leave this off
Last Update - this also did not work properly
Summary

I then assigned a value to most of them in FF downloader under configure plugin - except Edward/Bella/Pages/TBR/Read/Reading/Favorite - you have to do those yourself

I'm attaching screen shots because I can't figure out how to embed them LOL!

You have to do this all before you download into Calibre  - though you can redownload then merge the stories under Edit Metadata - I did a find duplicates, merge and delete.

Well, I only added the summary & characters really. I was trying to fill in the other info myself. It was taking forever.

Yes, this is what s*cks and what took me forever yesterday.  I ended up highlighting all the ones with missing info, wentto ffdownloader & selected "Get URL from selected stories", copied to clipboard, opened "Get stories from URL", and all the stries on the clipboard showed up. Then I redownloaded them.  Now I'm merging the ones that I already filled in with the new ones &deleting the duplicates on the ones I haven't done....yeah .......Sigh.......

Yeah I have a fair amount of both PDF and an web downloads..I don't have the merge issue because I only use Kindle software on my iPad. OK I was waiting for your reply regarding PDFs before I start re-loading so thanks for that, I'll just assume that Calibre will just ignore them...we'll see.

How far down the list is Songbird? It's not brilliant so don't kill yourself to read it but if you wanted something pleasant to distract you from Calibre then, sure.
