Why do people think a storyline that has Bella be sexually assaulted and have a child resulting from it, then meeting/dating Edward and then finding out he's her attacker is at all appropriate? I've seen this in two stories now and it just makes me feel sick.

*sigh* True, some authors think the most angsty the story the better; or ratter the more s h i t that happens to Bella the better; but sometimes they don't need to write something like that. I was going to read a fic with a similar plot and dicided to flounce

I have discovered counselor's stories :) You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I finished Roar Like a Lion You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

1936, Edward and Jasper work as loggers. They work hard and play harder. Bella and Jacob come to the camp to open the school. Problem is the unmarried men have a great time running off the teachers. When Edward sees Bella a roar starts to build inside. She's everything he can't stand. And he's pretty despicable. Trouble.

And now I'm reading My Wounded Soldier  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

1866 Edward just home from the war. Neighbor Bella has a tragedy and Edward delivers her baby. Seeing as she's widowed, marriage makes sense. He doesn't feel worthy, but he can't step aside for her suitors. Competition amongst veterans.
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

It's easy to smash those lights, but what's the point?

Thanks for the recs on non-Twilight ff.  I think I have all but the Stacy Green book on my TBR, but they may move up on my list now.

Loopylo - I have a handful of fics that I can go back to time and again (like - Fridays at Noon, Last Tango in Forks and Million Dollar Baby).  I'm sure I'll add to that list as time goes on.  There's nothing wrong with having go to stories.  I have some real books like that, too.

Demaris - I can't get your "show content" about My Wounded Soldier to open up.  Any ideas on why?

Please search before requesting or posting.  Check the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login for uploaded Twilight fanfiction.

Urgh. There is no way I would be reading a fic with that storyline. It's not really acceptable at all, due to the fact sexual assault is a crime, and that it's not an easy thing to recover from, and I don't think any woman in her right mind would be okay with being in the same room as, let alone falling in love with the man who raped her...It's almost an insult to people who have really suffered from something so horrific.

Part of me doesn't think it's not only a love of angst; I'm inclined to think people want to have her assaulted/raped in some way (why I have no idea) but also want our dear Edward to be Daddy dearest. Well possum, can't have it both ways and have your story kosher.

On a lighter note, maybe I'm easily amused, but smashing those lights is fun; that's the point of doing it.  :D

  • Well done on conquering Tuebl.
  • Perhaps you edited your content and removed the brackets or something around the spoiler - I do things like that all the time
  • Case in point - it's taken me forever to figure out how to do a bulleted list here!!!

I just discovered emails in my Outlook inbox - delivered 26.01.2000! They trickled in and are actually dated over the weekend and I just found them when I wondered why I had 5 unread emails. I feel like Marty McFly! No virus - just weirdness.

I don't want to sound flippant about this topic or offend anyone so feel free to just jump this response:

Many years ago, I read a fic along these lines. I can't remember the title or author but the fic itself was really very good. The assault was actually all part of a drunken university induction prank and the way it was written, both B&E were neither willing or reluctant and it actually didn't seem to be an assault when it actually was. It was very well done because both E&B were actually victims and perpetrators. There was no baby in this one (thank goodness - that may have been too much.) I wish I could remember this fic - it really got me thinking. It was around 2008/2009 and at the time, there was a lot happening in the media about this sort of culture in Australian sport. There were a lot of girls going into footballers' hotel rooms and then crying rape.

I have also read articles that say that forced sex is actually one of the most popular fantasies that women have - hence the popularity of books like FSoG (although I don't think there was much force there). Perhaps that is what authors are attempting to capture.

It is - just the sound effects when you do it accidently!
I admit, I'm not good with a touch pad! :(

Can anyone explain which picture was the offensive one? I didn't even consider that there would be kids on here  :-[ however, those boys on the book covers were fully (*ahem*) clothed - I'm sure that I've posted worse with no slap on the knuckles.

Obviously, I'm easily amused too, since I keep smashing the lights on purpose, and I read fanfiction obsessively.

I can see where you are coming from on this, however there is a difference between giving consent to role play a rape/ forced sex with a loved one or at least someone you know (or in the case of the fic being apathetic towards the sex - although I think that one toes a very thin line) and being assaulted by someone that you don't know at all and without giving consent, having all the power taken away from you, even if it is one of your fantasies. There is a reason that people have safe words, lots of trust and lengthy discussions before role playing something like that. Those BDSM fics say it over and over again, the sub holds much of the power in the relationship because they can pull the plug whenever they like, when one is being raped they don't have that option. I think authors have to be very careful and think hard about what they are saying with these kinds of stories.

Do you have any idea what fanfic this was based off?

Nevermind, I believe I found it- Was originally The Hostage (not sure of author fic name) but was pulled incomplete

ebalways just reposted the Hostage

The book Into the Dark is kind of similar but goes in its own direction.   I would recommend the book, but the Hostage is incomplete.  I think it quits before some of the important questions are answered.

Oh, I agree 100% with you - was just trying to suggest why those authors that choose to write these types of fics do so - It might be their fantasy (because it sure isn't mine!) and perhaps they get caught up in their fantasy without thinking about what they're really writing. That's why this particular fic was so good - I wish I remembered it! It was one of those rare gems that stay with you and at the time, I remember wishing that I could come out of the closet with my Fanfic addiction so that I could talk about it. The message behind the fic was exactly this issue that we're talking about now.

I think it was the pic you got from my goodreads links. I went back and looked around and all those comments were removed. I was kind of perplexed lately too. Our discussions must have been in the private sections and when all the fanfiction stuff got it's own area, we are out in public again. I was pm'd yesterday they removed a link in my signature. You remember the vid of how to search on here? Geez it has been in my siggy for a very long time and they said that was a link on a private area. Considering all my posts were in the private area, that is why I am thinking we use to be private and now we are not. Anyway, they said I couldn't have it since I am now posting in public.

I kinda felt like after that comment was made, we should make an ADULT ff area somewhere. If I went to the adult area now to post what we want because we are not underage, they are not going to want to hear about ff. So we are kinda screwed either way and I guess that affects me more than most, because of my visuals and my preference not to read rated T.

But in all honesty, the pic that was removed was really tame considering all the things we have been posting over the past year or more.

Does anyone remember what section this discussion was in originally ?

Shrugs.....I am all confused now that the house has moved.

I am glad I am not the only one that felt that way. I was just thinking maybe I took it wrong, but at least someone else felt that way too. Thanks Astro.

The reality is that if kids want to see something, they'll just tick the box to say that they're over 18 anyway.

because a parent at school caught her 10 and 12 year old boys on their computer at home comparing lengths!  :o

This wasn't an uncomfortable discussion at all!!! She marched them into my office and made them tell me what they were doing. The younger one was upset and feeling inadequate.

She wanted my advice on how to stop them from looking at sites like this, but didn't like my suggestion to move the computer out of their bedroom into the family room.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Dad might have bookmarked this site  ;)

Yea, I am just as confused. So the tatt of a cat on a man's stomach is not ok, but a pic of a stomach on a cover of a book is?
I refuse to believe I am a pervert. Damn it, I am just a grown woman....with needs
