Does anyone know how one would go about cleaning all the dirt and debris out of a laptop? I've always had a desktop before, and it was easy to just pop the side off and blow the sucker out, but I have no clue how to get at the inside of this laptop, and I've had it for a year now, 6 months of which we had a cat. I've noticed lately the fans are noisier than they used to be, so I'm guessing it's time for a clean.


I use canned air to get at the keyboard and any ports it can reach, but I have a feeling I'm missing a lot of dirt. I say this because I sat the laptop none too gently on the bed the other day, and lots of crud came flying out!

I like Isla for Olderward, but Our Yellow House is one of my faves from CN.  Just something about that fic that still grabs my heart.

It just does my head in! I'm the first one he calls if he needs to know how to do something on the computer but I'm not allowed to touch the bloody thing because I might download a virus - which I have never done, F U very much!

I think he's worried that I might see what he spends his time on when he's on the computer - because I have nothing better to do with my time, and I really want to know that my 70 year old father does that!!!

Most of the internet plans here in California, at least, don't have limits on your downloads or uploads.  My husband and I would be in so much trouble if they did.  I think the last time I had a plan with limits was in the late 90's.  So I can somewhat understand the limiting who has access.

But really? The double standard annoys me.  Especially? yeah, my husband visits NOT ALLOWED sites sometimes. And almost every time, he gets a virus.

Australia is still in the 1990s when it comes to Internet connections! I paid $50 per month for 12gb and upgraded recently when I learnt how to d/l movies and tv, and discovered PTS! I now pay $60 a month for 50gb. If I exceed my limit, I don't get charged any more but it slows down to dinosaur era speed - like you can almost hear the modem screeching to connect!

I have a separate plan for my phone which gives me 2 gb per month but if I exceed that, I get charged at a phenomenal rate - the only time this happened, I had to pay an additional $265 for the month. 

Update on the great computer war of 2012 - even though I haven't even gone into the study, somehow I didn't shut down the computer that I didn't even use - that's how hackers get in!!! Perhaps my dad is some top secret special agent with top secret files on his computer. Can't text, but is a prime target for computer hackers!

Bugger me! I think I need to start looking for old farts' home for the poor old delusional geriatric!!!
