I got the boyfriend to as I was too chicken in case I got spoiler'd, but the last chapter is 'Stranger than Fiction pt.1' or something, so it's fair to say it's probably not been finished.
Okay, I looked at the AN - it starts out like this:
" I haven't written since my last update. I blame meeting a boy, falling hard for him, and then him breaking my heart and moving on to another girl. Honestly, after that happened, I ate a lot of ice cream and did a lot of crying, and in between that, I did schoolwork. Sorry, you guys. :( "

So real life?  There was something also about studying for tests.  I've been waiting on this one as well.... :(

I think she probably will, it's been posted all over twitter so there'll be a huge following to convince her.

Also, Booked: I suspect it's my username that had you thinking I'm from France, but unfortunately it's the other side of the channel. I'm actually English, so if anyone wants to stalk me please come here rather than there.

Slightly OT: does anyone here watch True Blood? I watched the first ever episode earlier and holy sh1t, I'm not in Twilight-land anymore  :o
Yeah, the books too are really good..Maybe better than the show in some ways.

I've seen all the seasons (5, I think?).  I've ventured a little into the fanfic, but the summaries confuse me when they refer either to different seasons or different books instead of talking a little bit about the plot.

Hey Chippy, I've not seen you about lately? Have you return from the...shoot! Can I still call it the dark side now that we have a "dark side" thread? What are we calling Jasperites now?

I loved Summer of Salt one of the first fics I read and I still remember it as if I read it yesterday. Brilliant!

We have a dark side thread?  Hmmm...

I've just been really busy with the holidays so I haven't been on the computer very much.  Damn people forcing me to be social!!

Question for you ladies - do you actually read outtakes?  I seldom do.  Once the story is finished, I don't usually feel like reading something that happened earlier on.  Am I weird that way?
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

You know you've been reading fic too long when you see a note like that and think 'hey, I read a story like that!' Guess it's one for the FF follow list and just hope she finishes it.

So are the True Blood books worth reading? I do like what I've seen of the show so far, even if it was a lot more graphic than I expected. I don't think I'd venture into fanfiction of it until I'd gotten through most of the seasons, in any case.

Does anyone here read fics from any other fandoms?

Nope, I almost never read an outtake.

Unless they have been posted already and the author mentions it in a fic, I'll read the outtake where it belongs in the fic. If that even makes sense? lol

LOL! Different kind of dark side.  But much better wallpaper ;)

I usually love outtakes.  But more for the future takes and not earlier takes.   ;D

I also usually have author alerts on stories I am actually reading as a WIP, so when they post OT of, say another POV, I read it when it fits in the story, not after.  Otherwise, they can be very confusing.   :P

I like that question. I very seldom do unless the story as been pulled and the out-takes are part of the PDF download, so, basically stuck at the end of the story, which lead me to surmise that I'm just a lazy....you know what, and that is all. But there are times when I think, I don't really care, for example Secret, Lies and Family Ties, I wasn't really interested in reading We Might Fall, which a EPOV prequel, *shrug* I especially don't like when authors do outtakes and the main story isn't finished, I get irritated,  "use the time to update a chapter honey, get a wriggle on!"

I enjoy the books, but they have completely diverged from the TV series.

I first got into fanfiction years ago in the X-Files fandom.  Before FF.net even existed so we had our own websites for fanfic.  Yup.  I'm totally old.   :P

I read outtakes (because I'm a.n.a.l. and don't want to miss something).  I've read a couple of HP fics (but those people are children and I prefer stories with lemons) and a couple of TB stories.  But I can't keep up with all the Twilight stories so I really don't need to be sidetracked.  But Eric is delicious.

I have read some of the other stories by the True Blood author.  Forgetting her name now.  She writes good mysteries.  One series is a psychic.  I liked that one.  The Sookie Stackhouse series though, I've read some of them, but never really got into them.  The vamps are a little stiff to me.  And, unlike Edward, I never was really attracted to any of them.

However, I realized the HBO series changed all that.  So maybe? if you can picture the hot guys from the TV show while reading the books? You may enjoy them.  ;)

I bought several of the Game of Thrones books to read after watching the first season on HBO, but then my daughter decided she was interested so I gave her the books I bought.  She's going to carry them off to college with her so it will be a while before I either borrow them back from her or buy another set because she decides she's never going to live at home again *sniff*

See! Everyone likes something different. ;)

I only read the first 2 though I have the first 8 on Kindle when they offered a really good price on the collection.

They are as far from Twilight's Edward as Vincent Price.  I never fancied any of them either but I really enjoyed the stories and I've read her Harper Connelly Series too ( the psychic) I think Harris is a pretty solid writer overall.

I personally don't mind outtakes.. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to read them, but if they're at the end of a completed story I might do if they seem interesting. If a story has been in one POV and then there's another POV outtake I'll usually read that.

I might have to try the True Blood books then. My TBR list just keeps getting longer! As for Eric.. well, if the google images results are accurate then someone get me a glass, because I found a taaaallll drink of water!  :D Though of course no-one can compare to Rob. How I wish he'd do something as graphic as TB. Only to test himself as an actor though, of course..

Game of Thrones is just a no. Twincest?  :sign0135:

I'm shaking my head and gritting my teeth at the moment..The last book was ten years in the writing, the author is in his mid 60s, I think it will take least two if not three more books to finish this series...can you see where I'm going with this?

I kinda like twincest.

But not the GoT type, not brother sister, but I've read a few brother stories I've liked.

That happened to me with a really long series by Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time).  He died before it was finished.  His son and another writer took over the series.  I haven't read any of the stories since the original author died, but I'm going to have to do it since I need closure.
