  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

I like sweet lemons.  And fade to black.... I realize when reading WIPs, a lemon or two a chapter is usually okay- depending on the length.  But when reading as a full story? It can be way too much.  :P

I totally agree about sweet lemons and F2B, especially when reading a completed fic. Reading a WIP is a completely different experiences to reading a completed fic - the UST builds. That's what I really like!

You can't go wrong with Rochelle Allison.  I've been reading Stolen as a WIP and have not yet read the latest update because I'm too busy reading my way through everything I have by Kristen Ashley.  This has put me behind on almost all the WIPs I'm reading and seriously slowed down my momentum on Breakaway Bella.  But I only have about 4 more in the Kristen Ashley catalog to read, then back to fanfiction!

I think you've persuaded me to return to Kristen Ashley after Sessions.

So much to read, so little time!!!

Report Card reading is coming up soon - and because of the meds I'm on, I can't have vodka to help me get through it!

Astro - You might need to get laid so you can work off the rage.

Yep - no argument here.

Do you know anyone that can help???

Has anyone been sued yet?

Oh no, wait...that would only happen in the US.  And, of course, we couldn't call it St. Martin's Day because that would be mixing government and religion.

Nope. By law, parents are responsible for their kids as soon as they are together, even on school grounds! Doesn't matter if the teachers are there, they are only responsible for the kids during school hours. So, your kid gets burned? Your own fault!  ;)

And our kindergarten is not private but municipal (? the city owns the business that owns the kindergarten...) so we shouldn't celebrate religious days... well, we got asked if we care... and we all like the celebration too much to care...  ;)
And the St Martin legend is actually a nice one about sharing and caring for others...  :)

We should host several vanilla lemon contest... to show how much fun you can have without kink.  ;)

They can't be described as lemons though, otherwise they might get pulled.

How about melons?  All the ingredients without the bitter after-taste.

The fun part? Buying alcohol from your kids' kindergarten teacher and nobody cares. Kids running around all over the place, while torches are stuck in the earth, toddlers trying to touch the flames, a big bonfire with kids sitting around, not all are watched, huge piles of shared food to eat while it is so dark you can't really see what you eat (allergies? nobody cares)... and THIS ALL HAPPENS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS!  :D We had a great time! :)

That sounds AWESOME! Here in Australia, you need a license to sell alcohol, but alcohol consumption on school grounds is at the Principal's discretion.

Believe it or not, there are times when I say no!

Next year, we are planning to have a Bonfire night/Lantern night as a community event in Winter. The idea is that people cut out a design in a 44 Gallon drum - like this: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I am guessing alcohol will be involved too!

I'll get to work on that.  I did hear some good news on that front from another friend of mine today.  Her husband of 30+ years died about 5 years ago.  She finally dipped her toe back into the dating game and is now benefiting in a healthy physical relationship with a man she met through friends.  Where there's life, there's hope.

Sorry about the vodka fail, hopefully the meds make you feel good.

There's some things about Kristen Ashley that make me roll my eyes, and after spending so much time in her world, I'm starting to use some of her stock phrases, but I'm having a good time.

The word "melon" always reminds me of Midori - which reminds me of my former housemate's propensity for drinking too much midori, resulting in green, melon-scented vomit!!!

My daughter's kindergarten is Spanish speaking so they don't celebrate all of the Austrian holidays, but we are still having a lantern festival on Wednesday.  I laughed when the teacher started listing all different types of alcohol I could bring to the party, maybe she wasn't joking (Spanish is my 2nd language, German is my 4th so some things get lost in translation).

I'm a little worried about the real candle in a paper lantern for my 2 year old, but it should be fun.

Its almost time for Christmas markets here and an abundance of gluhwein (mulled wine) too bad I don't get any this year, just mulled grape juice for me.

Have fun!  :-*

For some odd reasons there are drinks that are not really considered alcohol here...
(well, drinking age is 16 for low alcohol drinks...)

I mean, beer is for some people just a normal drink. You need a plumber/construction worker...? He gets offered a beer nearly as soon as he comes into your house...  ;)

When someone had a birthday, there will be some sparkling wine to drink at the office...

When the Christmas market opens in two weeks, my hubby and his colleagues will go there for lunch, meaning eating bratwurst and drinking mulled wine, then going back to work. or just drinking mulled wine. There are a lot of booths at the market selling it, they will need some time for finding the best, right?  ;)

Our pumpkins are a different breed to the Halloween ones - the Queensland Blue almost needs a chainsaw just to cut, let alone carve, but it's delicious roasted and in soup!

And with how hot it is, they go mouldy and smelly very quickly - this happens in a couple of days!

For the little ones we use electric lantern sticks. They are much safer.  :) Candles are for preschoolers.

It was the Strasbourg Christmas Markets that did us in! And a mulled wine stall every few metres - well, it felt wrong not to sample the local merchandise!

Standing in the falling snow in a beautiful square surrounded by buildings that are hundreds of years old, with twinkling lights everywhere and drinking hot wine was such a surreal experience for me.
