See? I'm the same.  I get some kinky stuff.  But sometimes they really go overboard.  Most couples try a few things like tying up or spanking.  And angry sex? Well that can be hot if it fits.  When Redtini was writing the one chapter where they had angry sex, we (her beta's) actually recommended she tone it down because it almost sounded like rape and I knew that wasn't what she wanted.

Now when Rose & Emmett have it and we find out about it secondhand? I find it funny. 

Yes, some kink can be good. But hot, steamy vanilla sex without kinks can be so great and in a "normal" fanfic about ordinary people that's what I expect. Not tying up for their first time together, no "permission to come", especially no degrading name calling! (shy inexperienced Geekward calls Bella his slut? I don't think so!)

Between BDSM and domestic discipline lemons get more and more rough, borderline non consensual and too much too fast.

The irony in it is that most of these writers really have no idea what they are writing about. BDSM can only work when it is highly reglemented with a lot of talking, contracts, rules and safewords (!). Some of the lemons could be really dangerous...

I looked up a blog when I first read a dd story. And it's part of a hardcore christian lifestyle with very defined roles. It's especially not about sex, it's really about punishment. The husband as the man has the right and the duty to care for his wife, and as she is a weak, dumb, not-able-to-think-for-herself female, he has to train her... *rolls eyes*
So, in a fanfic relationship? It has no place in my opinion, because it doesn't show a healthy relationship.
(If someone lives in that lifestyle, I don't judge, they can do what they want, but in most stories? It's just a way to get readers and reviews and make Edward the ultra alpha, there is no lifestyle behind it and Bella mostly NEVER agreed to such a lifestyle before, and THEN it really IS abuse!)

So, after a long cold walk with lanterns and my first cups of mulled wine (St. Martin festival at the kindergarten), I just finished:

I have no idea what a St Martin festival is, but if it involves mulled wine, I want to have one!

We don'e really get into mulled wines here (probably because it's too hot) but when I was in Europe, we sampled heaps of it - mulled wine, vin chaud, gluhwein, vin brule, svarene vino - whatever you call it, we tried it!

A travel tip though - don't consume mulled wine and then do a tour of a cathedral with naked statues in it! Apparently giggling at religious nudies is frowned upon in France!

What you all? Do you ever just feel like re-reading a story rather than trying to get into a new one?

I don't re-read but when I don't feel like getting into a fic, and especially lately, because my attention is all over the shop, I have been reading lots of one-shots. I've pretty much grabbed all of the contests lately and put them into an anthology and am just working my way through them, based on whatever mood I'm in.

I did finish Sexy Silk on the weekend. The spelling, punctuation, grammar was atrocious, but the fic itself was actually really good - a bit too much Tulip and Pita, but funny and fluffy and just what I need at the moment. An epi was promised back in 2012, but it's still not there and I really did want an epi for this too, even though the ending was enough.

You can't go wrong with Rochelle Allison.  I've been reading Stolen as a WIP and have not yet read the latest update because I'm too busy reading my way through everything I have by Kristen Ashley.  This has put me behind on almost all the WIPs I'm reading and seriously slowed down my momentum on Breakaway Bella.  But I only have about 4 more in the Kristen Ashley catalog to read, then back to fanfiction!

I'm the opposite - I am frequently surprised by the quality and originality of some of the new fics that I see.

("New" to me means recently completed - they might not actually be "new"  )

I know this will probably be obvious once you answer ... but EEK?

I thought there were some editing/conversion errors but, it seems that whenever there is a profanity used there is a space e.g. he scared the  out of me or I respected the   out of him.

The fun part? Buying alcohol from your kids' kindergarten teacher and nobody cares. Kids running around all over the place, while torches are stuck in the earth, toddlers trying to touch the flames, a big bonfire with kids sitting around, not all are watched, huge piles of shared food to eat while it is so dark you can't really see what you eat (allergies? nobody cares)... and THIS ALL HAPPENS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS!  We had a great time!

I have recently beta'ed a few contest entries or fics by authors that I don't regularly beta for and I just had to roll my eyes at the "BDSMification" that went on.

I felt like telling them that good sex can actually occur between two people without the use of blindfolds, handcuffs/rope, a flogger or spanking! And also without the man telling the woman she's a "naughty little girl" - that makes me want to vom in my mouth and, I don't care how great a man is
