Me too. I tried to update an in-progress story from FF.net and tried to download one for TWCS just in case it was ff.net issue again and it didn't work.

That is the same error that I got. I looked in the configuration of the plugin to see if I could find where that error was coming from, but with no luck. 

Calibre ff downloader stop working for anyone else?

yeah, I put a message on the FFDL user group page.  Hopefully someone will make a fix quickly.  I think FFnet may be blocking them again.  It looks like the same error message from last time...

Hopefully, they won't be as nice as Steve. 

How are you doing Booked?  I was looking at the pictures and it is awful.  I don't normally watch the news so I never really know what's going on out there....

I was just wondering the same thing...   I just read that they are estimating 10,000 people have died in just that one city.    So very sad.   I also don't watch the news! I'd rather have my head hidden in a book pretending like nothing bad ever happens.

Booked, even I have heard about the mass devastation that happened over there. Glad you are ok.

It is indeed quite a devastating catastrophe. I don't want to watch the news anymore bec it is really heartbreaking to see parents carrying the dead bodies of their children, or for anyone crying as they saw the body of their dead loved one. 

We are all saying here that it is good Manilla was not hit bec if the capital suffered the same devastation, aid to those other provinces will be further delayed. As it is, you hear the usual cry for help, complaints of delayed aid that causes some desperate people to start looting

All i can pray is that the affected people get all the help they need so that they can start the healing and recovery.

Calibre ff downloader stop working for anyone else?

I asked about a week ago if something was going on with Calibre but Astro told me it was working for her. I haven't been able to download anything for a while.

Ever seen this? I always thought something like this only happens in fluffy fanfics... 

I have a bitch. My tablet glitched out on me, which means I had to do a factory reset, which means all the fic I had loaded onto my tablet is gone and will have to be reloaded. I mean, I still have it all on my computer and in my clouds, but I don't remember what all I had on there. I add stuff that I hope to read soon, and remove as I read it.

That is so frustrating indeed. I don't know if my "system" will be of help to you but here it goes....
I download everything using my ipad. I try to sync it at least 2 times a month with my PC. When i copy to my PC, i sort the books in itunes accdg to date so i know which ones are already in my PC. Have not undertaken any sorting in my PC except for the date i got it. I therefore have 3 Fanfic folders in my PC: 2012, 2013 and Done.
 
When i read on my ipad, i move it to my ipad library called "done". So next time i sync it, i delete it from my ipad, itunes and i move my PC copy to my "done" folder in my PC. I also update my excel file which contains my Done fics. This is why i know i've only read 266 twifics as of today...only a bazillion more to go 

In the event my ipad crashes, i will at least know to only put in those in my 2012 and 2013 folders bec those are the ones i haven't read yet.  but if my ipad crashes before i sync, well i wouldn't know for shite the recent ones i downloaded. I will just not let that bug me bec i still have bazillion more to read...and am sure if it was good and worth reading, someone here might rec that again in the future 

For real books, i have the same no. of PC folders. I use goodreads to keep track of my read/done list. GR allows you to export your library to an excel file so i also have that as a back up to know those i've read. Unfortunately, i don't add to my GR "to read" list which would be ideal to know what books i have on my PC in case it crashes. For some reason, knowing exactly how many more i have to read adds to my "stress".

There was a new udate for the calibre ffdl a few hours ago. But it still doesn't work with ff.net... 

But they are good at tweaking the program so that it works around all the hurdles the ff.net staff builds all the time... 

There was just another plugin update, and this time it worked.  Was a little slower, but I'm not complaining.

Oh and just keep it zipped.  For some reason, Calibre likes zipped files.... 

checked for the update in calibre for the fanfiction downloader and then installed the update and everything is working again!!



I didn't need to download the zip file, just checked for updates for plugins and it was there.....

LOL! He usually posts the update on the user forum anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours before the update shows up for me in Calibre.  But it is better to get it from the Calibre thing.  Much less work.
