  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

You may have have to re-download them to get it.  Or add it manually using the update metadata.

I haven't figured out a better way to do it.  But maybe someone else has?

If you have the correct ID, Calibre should be able to update the metadata via the FFDL plug-in, I think. So, you highlight the fic/fics where you want to have filled in the column, then go to FFDL -> update existing -> update metadata only. I seem to remember doing it that way, but that was a while ago, since my Calibre has reached its final appearance a while ago now.

A few days ago, it occurred to me that I wasn't here for a long time now. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks? Vacation, change of department at work and in general stress somehow.
And I got lost once more in tech stuff.
I rooted my e-book-reader and made a little Android Tablet out of it.  >:D I have now installed the Kindle app and 2 other ebook reader apps on top of the default reader. So I can read now every ebook available with one device and the 2 additional reader can read all my epubs aloud via headphones.  I'm such a nerd...  :57:
But once one of these thoughts is in my head, I can't get it out. I have to test it until it's perfect. Takes time and a lot of trial-and-error, but I can't help it. And it's great once I've figured it out. Well, we'll see how long I'm satisfied now. There's still one app I have to try and then I can un-root it again.  :banghead:

And otherwise: I can't believe it's Christmas already! It's much too warm, we have no snow and I could easily skip it this year.

I'm reading the fourth book of J. R. Ward's Fallen Angels series and love it big time. In between I read fics.

Twilighting - flounced after the 2 first chapters. Too much fluff for me!

Transcendence by Shay Savage - re-read and it was just as great as the first time.

And I really can't remember the rest. There were more, but the titles are gone.

Are you ladies stressed out about Christmas? Or is it easygoing for you?

Thanks for the link to the pdf!  I still haven't figured out how to get into Ella's library past page 1.   ???

I know how you feel. I am pretty good with a computer, and when I click on her Calbre link all I get is the "A's" Ella any chance you can shed some light on this?

I can achieve more than the As when I log in into Google and click on Open in Google Drive. But I have to scroll to the bottom of the page then to get more fics. I have the feeling it doesn't load all fics on its own. And if I click on the folder on the left side to see the subfolders it starts loading, but freezes.

I couldn't figure out how to see more than the A's, but I added her drive to mine. After doing that, I just type in the name of the fic/author that I'm looking for in the search bar and it searches/finds through the whole directory even though I can't see the list. I guess you need to make sure you add the drive.

Ah yes, sorry I forgot about that. I added it to my drive too and then did as I stated above.

LINK Ta Paixao - The Debt
« Reply #2788 on: December 20, 2013, 07:51 AM »
Finally I've found a fic which I'm finding really difficult to put down. I've read some fics I've enjoyed over the last few weeks but I could leave them for a day or two to read something else and it didn't bother me.
I was kind of skimming this when it was a WIP, so I'm so way happy that it is now complete.  :)

Juniors in college, Bella and Edward live together under a tense agreement. They aren't exactly friends - not anymore - but Edward has a debt to pay and a promise to keep. Edward will get his chance at redemption... Rated for all sorts of adult content. EPOV. Tattward.
Rated: Fiction M - English - Drama/Angst - Bella, Edward - Chapters: 47 - Words: 153,475 - Reviews: 4,150 - Favs: 1,744 - Follows: 2,476 - Updated: Dec 3 - Published: May 29 - Status: Complete - id: 9339195

Bonus with this one is that Edward has piercings and tatts.  :P :D

It worked!   :) :) :)  Thank you so much Oilily Sepperl!  Phew!  I was so afraid that I had to re-download my stories again.  And that would completely ruin my Christmas!!!

 :-*  :-*  :-*

I'm definitely a Calibre convert now!   :)

I've read only one story from her so far - Under the Blood Moon - and I loved it!  Have not read her other stories yet because have been too busy downloading instead of reading!  But I'm planning to read the Debt during Christmas break.

I'm normally logged in to Google in my original account. The Calibre library is in my second account because there isn't room on the first one with the PDFs.

I have the same problem as you. I can't even see all the A's.  But if I search after clicking on the Google Drive logo, I find what I'm looking for.  That's the best I can do right now. The copy drive is also out there but so far it's worse for finding stuff. It works great for sharing between my computers though.  If any one knows a better way to share, let me know.   ;)

Thanks for mentioning the Fallen Angels series... I liked most of Ward's BDB series (didn't finish all the books) so I should check that series out too.    I think I remember hearing lots of people mention they liked Transcendence and I don't have that one on my list yet.  Guess I need to add it! :)

I'm trying not to stress over Christmas...  I do all my shopping online unless I can't avoid it.  Had to make a run to ToysRUs today for one item and that was bad enough.  Can't imagine doing all my shopping in "real" stores! :)   I also send Happy New Year cards (since I'm a procrastinator) instead of Christmas cards so that helps keep the stress lower too.   LOL

We're having crazy warm weather here too...  I am still dreaming of a white Christmas!

Transcendence was the only fic that I started to read again as soon as I finished it! Absolutely loved it. Maybe it's time for another reread...

Looks like we'll be having a heat wave for our NYC Christmas...should be in the 60s on Sunday; I guess we'll see. I'm looking forward to it after our cold blast earlier this week.  :)

Glad you liked the collaboration fics, I really enjoyed them, and it was fun to see authors working together.  (Collaboration based on There is a Light, Fridays at Noon, and Edward Cullen, Dick for Hire)

Hello everyone!! And Merry Christmas  :-* (Not Xmas yet, but whatever!)

My holidays officially started today (Three weeks with no work, no classes and definatelly no studying, yeah!) and I decided to update my fanfic database. After the whole FF.net fiasco, I haven't touched anything since this summer and I just realised that 80& of my flaged fics have been DELETED! Oh, the horror... I hope some of you have kept an archive. Wish me luck!

By the way, how is everyone?!

OMG! Sorry for double posting, but... Dusty was plagiarised?! No wonder all these authors and FF,net itself are so all over the place right now.  :(

I think I miss the times when Twilight Fanfiction was just a part of the fandom and not a fandom by itself... Everything started with Out of Characters and Alternate Universe tags and evolved in an excuse for aspiring authors to publish their jobs to an already existing and pretty wide fan base.  I am honestly not surprised that most of these people trash and have no actual respect for Twilight and its fans. Am I making any sense?

FanFiction is great, don't get me wrong. I always enjoy discovering new angles to my favorite characters, whether they exist or not. But when it comes to Twilight, the term has simply lost its meaning. Now it seems more like Twilight Fans Sharing Their Random Stories than Twilight Fanfiction Stories.

I am so glad I took this break to read actual books and stories from authors that are trying to catch the attention of their own audience instead of taking advantage of an already existing one.

*rant over - no intention of insulting anyone - I hope you get my point*
