This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Hello! I'm slowly making my way through this thread and all of the old discussions, and nabbing a story to be read here and there 

I don't really have anything useful to add, but I will ask a question! Have you noticed any changes in fanfiction since you first began reading? I dove back into the fanfic pool after flouncing a few years ago and noticed that half the stories I had a list of, have been pulled.  Doing a quick Google search and adding "+PDF" led me here and a couple other sites. I'm upset that I came back so late in the game because I have been reading fanfiction for yeaaaaaaaaaars and was finally introduced to the flagfic downloader and got to make use of it ONCE before it stopped working on FF.net 

Going back to my own question; I started reading Twilight fiction a little after Eclipse was released and most of the stories were AU, and now there's an abundance of AH fics to be read and it's just such a treat!

I didn't discover it until the end of 2010.  My first was AH (The Plan).  I actually had a hard time finding good vamp stories at first because hardly anyone I knew read them.  Once I figured it all out, I found a number of good ones.   But yes, the majority are now all human.  And really? That is AU for Twilight!

I'm still versed in everything being "alternative universe" such as what if Bella had never given birth or been turned, but it's true that an all human character set up is definitely the alternative to canon.

Right now I'm trying to find some good vamp fics, but I'm still stuck in my HEA AH bubble 

Also, I don't know what it is about Twilight, but I really have the biggest issue trying to get over the hurdle of reading anything that isn't canon. I don't have this issue with other fandoms, but I guess since I think book Bella is just so so, it's very easy for authors to take her and mold her into an entirely new character. I guess I just read too much and need to remove myself from E/B stories for awhile.

I've been assured it's an HEA. 

My favorite is Drotuno's Broken Angel series.  It is an HEA.  Edward returns to find Bella wasn't so happy.  They have the mating thing going.   I really enjoyed all four, but I tended to skim the lemons.  She writes a LOT of lemons.  They are well written, I just get bored after a while. Both are as if Edward didn't come back after New Moon, but they pick up when Bella meets Edward again.

You know what's weird, I'm reading How to Forget by Shadow Masen, and read that it won first place in the Energize WIP Awards for Most Promising Twilight Fanfiction – Canon. But, but, but it's All Human...so how can that be canon? I'm about three quarters through this amnesia fic, and I would recommend it, but I don't see how this fic would have even been nominated in that category much less win it. Weird.

When I started reading fanfics I thought author's universe simply meant that the writer threw out the  Twilight canon--whether it was AH or vamps. It wasn't until recently that I started to think of AU as vampward with rules that verge off the canon path (I guess like My Mate or Hide and Drink). Is that what it is supposed to mean?

I think the last vampward I read that I really liked was Angel in the Attic by Leola Mae. It wasn't canon per se, but it's twist on canon was highly enjoyable.

Did you know that if you download an author's page, Calibre will now grab all the favorites too?

I wasn't sure if you were around when we discussed it.  It's really great but gets bogged down if there are more than around 500.  Or was it 900.  I just know 1000 was too much for my system - it times out.  I do have a fast computer, but my network is so slow at night. 

Have you tried cut and copying the lists into 2 or 3 jobs, using notepad or excel once the downloaded plugin has grabbed the urls from the author page?

ok ladies I have a question for you guys.   I figured since I am snowed in and not going to work today (thank you to the Blizzard we got last night)  I would back up my caliber to copy.  what is the best way?  Copy from caliber itself or from the files it makes on my hard drive??

Can't help you with the copy question, but--seeing as you mentioned the blizzard--DAMN it's cold here! The wind chill is insane!!! Brrrrr. Nice day to lounge on the couch with a fic and my coffee.

Ok thank you about the copy question.  As per the blizzard  we have about 1 ft of snow and still snowing,  16 degrees with a wind chill of -5.  Can imagine those in the western states and northern new England with the wind chills even worse.  UGH
