This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement. 

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Ok thank you about the copy question.  As per the blizzard  we have about 1 ft of snow and still snowing,  16 degrees with a wind chill of -5.  Can imagine those in the western states and northern new England with the wind chills even worse.  UGH

Yeah, the snow is still coming down--or actually up, down, and sideways--here in the City as well. I needed to go grocery shopping today, but forget it. It's too cold. Oh, and for the rest of the world, our -5F is your -20C. It's absolutely frigid.

Have you tried cut and copying the lists into 2 or 3 jobs, using notepad or excel once the downloaded plugin has grabbed the urls from the author page?
Oh yes, I did that already.  I just wasn't sure if RD knew about the new abilities of Calibre. She's been absent a lot lately. ;)

On the big ones, I found pasting into notepad works well. But if the have a lot of non-Twilight stories, I do the right click copy thing I discussed with her earlier. Then I don't get the stuff I don't want. ;)

LOL, where I live we can get temps of -30C to -40C. -20C doesn't seem that cold after those temps and we have already gotten them a few times this winter season. It all sucks a**. I wish I could afford to live somewhere that is warm all the time.

ok ladies I have a question for you guys.   I figured since I am snowed in and not going to work today (thank you to the Blizzard we got last night)  I would back up my caliber to copy.  what is the best way?  Copy from caliber itself or from the files it makes on my hard drive??
you can copy the entire library folder on your computer. Make sure it doesn't move it though. Once it's in the Copy folder, you can then add the entire library as is.  In the add library as a previously existing library. I named my libraries by their location. Complete-a is the main one. Then theres complete - google and complete-copy.  Yeah I back up a lot.  Once you have it set up in your Calibre, it's easy to update your main library, highlight the changes and right click copy to x library. Do not delete after copy!!!  I do use delete after copy only when I download a WIP or a completed story in my WIP library, since I have them separated.  ;D

Doh!  Now that you mention it, it seems so obvious; I didn't even think in terms of canon character or canon couples.  ^-^ I was just wondering how an AH fic could be canon. *bangs head*

As always, the Twilight fandom breaks all the rules...  :D

Stories, that belong in the original Twilightverse (what's canon everywhere else... lol ) don't have a special name to it.

If you change their character traits, it's OOC / out of character

If you take the original characters and put them in a different setting, still keeping them vamps/human (What if stories for example...) you call them AU / alternate universe

If you make them all human, it's AH (obviously)

If you want them to end up in different pairings, it's non-canon... and slash if you make them gay... and everybody needs you to put the pairing in the summary...

Canon means it's Edward/Bella... often enough the other couples get other pairings though but as long as Edward gets his Bella, it's still called canon


It's different to other fandoms, but if you stick to this, you'll muddle through...  :-*


So....

AH, OOC, non-canon, B/Em
could mean: everybody is human, Edward is a player and Bella a bitch and she ends up with Emmett  :D

Ah, for that situation I use linky add on to Firefox.  But if I'm lazy or have accidentally downloaded a bunch of non-twilight stuff, I minus the twilight tag in calibre and sort by date.

I feel for you! We are having 31C here and I'm dying! Which means that in the sun it's actually way worse.
Some places here the sensation is 50C. I would trade it all for all the snow in the US right now.

I am green with envy. I have low blood pressure and poor circulation, so I am almost always cold. I can take the heat and humidity easier than this cold we are getting. It would be nice if there was a happy medium so everyone could be happy.

I have to admit that I didn`t believe it either, so I had to look. The pic looks very authentic, so I don`t think that it is a prank. It also may not have been recommended to have one removed.
