Thread #5 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Rant away, some people need to be ranted at and often.  As for FB, I only use it to park things I want to find later.
Thanks hun, I just woke up in a ranty mood yesterday and I don't think this helped:
(This is the end of our garden and the tree was a giant P.I.T.A. to sort out and move in the wind and rain even with the help of our neighbours equipment from his farm.  :()
This has meant we are all trpped in our house pretty much as we can't get out of our town.  :( Which means my daughter couldn't go back to school (damn  :P) and the hubby can't get into work. The joys of living in the country.  :D

I loved The Debt - it was right up my street with all the angst, but I don't think I could of explained it better than LL did.  :-* :)

Celebrated my 19th wedding anniversary by having a simple dinner out with my hubs after work. Then finally took the plunge and upgraded my phone plan to get an iphone 5s, my christmas gift to myself. After 19yrs, we have become too practical and no longer gift each other during Christmas or anniversaries and instead save the money to fix something in the house or go on a family trip when the kids have no school. Ahh, the fast pace of life, work responsibilities, raising kids and old age  :o has sometimes put romance in the back burner *le sigh*

Now, i have to transfer my phone contacts from my old samsung gt young to the iphone. Bluetooth fails! Think they are incompatible. Any ideas on the easiest way to transfer?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your anniversary!

There's nothing like the fun and frustration of transitioning to anew phone.  Have you thought about using Google contacts as an intermediary instead of directly from one phone to the other? That would also give you an online backup if your phone gets wiped or lost for whatever reason.

That's the kind of thing me and the hubby have started to do - save money to do something with the house and kids. It makes more sense than spending money on something we don't really need or want.

:iagree: :iagree:
I use Google contacts and every time I upgrade my phone the contacts are transferred immediately and I'm pretty sure Google contacts work with most phones including iPhones but I'm not 100% sure on that.

That book (fourth in the series) broke my heart and still does. Sookie basically gets exactly what she didn't know she wanted for a few chapters, only to get her heart broken in the end. Pff... (Should that be spoiler-marked?)

The series turned out to be kind of a disappointment later on, too many plot twists were used to keep the story going. For what is worth I like the ending and Eric Northman is a vampire like no other.

It can't be a spoiler if we don't know the name of the story.  Can you give story and author name?  I sometimes wander into sookieverse.

Post back and let us know what you think of Gabriel's Redemption!   I absolutely loved the first two books!

Ok I've finished the book...it was good, yes, but I prefered the first two.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I think she means the fourth book in the original series (by Charlaine Harris?). Bill pulls a New Moon, Eric does lose his memory, and his relationship with Sookie goes from flirty to romantic.

Happy Anniversary!

I upgraded my phone over the summer, and due to differences in the size of the sim card, they wanted to charge me to switch my contacts over.  It was a minor amount, but I was frustrated at the idea of it, so I said I would just do it myself.  I ended up just inputting the key important people, and then keeping my old phone around so I could tell who was texting me if the number wasn't in my contacts yet.  So basically I still haven't switched over half of my contacts, but they can't be that important, right?

Congrats! 19 years is awesome  :-*
I know what you mean. We gifted ourselves with new kitchen chairs this christmas...  ;) But I also got a radio for the kitchen and I got my hubs a special document case for tickets, IDs etc so he has everything from all of us together in a manly envelope and a shemote control (something like that: You are not allowed to view links. Congrats on 19 years!  We used to go on vacation for our anniversary before we had children in school.  Now, if we're lucky, we go out for dinner (preferably without the children).

Thanks for all the greetings! I wish you all and your respective better halves many years of blessed togetherness as well.  :)

Loopy, take care and hope all of your family stay safe!  :-*

The phone guy did mention to look into google plus though he couldn't guarantee its success. Will check it out tom. In the meantime, if my phone rings, will make sure to save to contacts as i figured the people i regularly talk to will be calling.  ;)

It's 1:20 am, running on fumes since i slept at 3 am yesterday and woke up at 6am to get ready for work. The main reason for my sleepless nights is bec i couldn't put down Wild Man. Just finished it now and it was another awesome read! 5 stars! Shutting my ipad so i don't get tempted to start Law Man, will probably be a zombie by tom if i don't catch some zzzzs...

Good night/day lovely ladies!  :-*

This actually happens on the original series, on Book 4.

But, like New Moon, this is the main book of the series (along with book 9) where most of the Sookie angsty fics come from.

And this is why I had enough of memory loss fics!  :D

One exception: Died and Gone to Heaven by DoUTrustMe (If you haven't read it, it is a must! All fluff ;) )

I loved Died and Gone to Heaven! It was so great and funny!

Other than that, I usually don't go for amnesia fics, but I did recently read a good one by Shadow Masen called How to Forget. The ones I avoid though are old age memory loss fics--like Alzheimer's or dementia types. Those will just make me ball my eyes out and leave me depressed. There's too much loss in those for me.

Does anyone else use FFN's browse function?  I use it to look for new stories.

It isn't up to date - the last Fic I see there (using my usual filters) updated last night, but I have gotten alerts today.  What a disaster that site is!!!

I feel for you. I live in Calgary and I was one of the very few lucky ones not affected by the massive flooding we suffered this past spring/summer. Calgary was basically shut down until it receded. Good Luck and I will keep my fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse for you.

I loooved the Sookie book where Eric lost his memory.  That was my favorite! I didn't read the whole series because after a while there were just so many different plots going on I sort of lost my interest.

I felt the same way...  I loved the first two!  Like they were my favorite romance books of all time...  but the third one missed the mark for me.  I still liked it and am glad I read it, but it was just missing something.   I guess the fact that he was no longer trying to win her over and also they were dealing with some stuff that was a little too real life so took away from the romance part of the book for me.

I'm almost finished with Wildest Dreams by Kirsten (am I the only one that can never remember if its Kirsten or Kristen?) Ashley and it is such a great story!  I can only hope that the others are this good.
