ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Slightly (very) irrelevant: Here is my favorite photo from last night's Golden Globes:

I just finished reading the The Ex Games trilogy by J.S. Cooper You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I did enjoy the "books" but found some of the characters behaviour odd. As for the explanation and motives for said behaviour, I thought it was rather puzzling but then that's just me.  I cannot tell you more without giving the plot away but if you do read this do let me know what you think.  :)

Read them and I agree. Do you notice that most books these days come in threes? I think authors struggle to come up story lines that  fit their themes and they go for the bizarre and outrageous trying to top readership as each is published.
Crossfire novels was supposed to be three now I think we are up 5 books. I guarantee that  by 4/5 we are all gonna be played out.
To your point, that's why behaviours same odd. Authors struggle with originality/creative plot lines to hold our interest.  Sorry for rambling, it just makes me mad sometimes

So lately I've been having trouble finding a fanfic that I can really get into. I'm looking for stories where bella is supernatural when she meets edward. She can be a witch, shapeshifter, wolf, vampire, basically anything. But, not to be mean, I am looking for well written stories, just fanfics that don't have a large amout of grammatical errors. Thanks and believe me if there are any other stories that aren't bella being supernatural I'm more than willing to check it out. One more thing it has to have some drama, I can't stand the stories where it's rainbows and unicorns pooping out butterflies. Thanks you in advance.

I just finished You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, it has supernatural humans and Bella has her gift from the beginning.  It was well written, though I had a little trouble following at the end, and it wasn't how I would have ended the story, but I enjoyed it.  Oh it also takes place in the South, though there isn't too much 'Southernism' for whoever was looking for South stories (lamekurker?).

Another supernatural story I enjoy is You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, Bella has her gift from the beginning but doesn't know about it, but does find out about it very early on.

I really liked Bella. But Edward thinks too much. I just wanted to tell him "Please shut up!"

And I love to hear Edward normally. So, yeah, not a favorite. Though it's not bad. I just wouldn't put it at the top of the list. ;)

As my mum used to say we can't all like the some things and thank goodness we don't.   I personally loved Smugward's internal ramblings, I thought they were hilarious.   :-*

I am so glad it wasn't only me.  I know what you mean about serializations and totally agree, personally most of these are totally unnecessary.  I will go further and say I really dislike the trend to publish bits of a book, its so freaking annoying.  :P

That is a great photo.

When I fist saw Benedict, I must admit to thinking 'what is all the fuss about' but the more I see of him the more I get it.

The first fic I thought of when I read this question was Elemental too! I really liked it and its outtakes.

I think I may go for Giofógach next, thanks for the rec!

Yeah, the trend for serializations drive me crazy too. For me, the worst was waiting for all 12 parts of Ava Claire's His Submissive series

to come out so that I could read it.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I thought it was worth the wait once I was finally able to read it. Keeping track of how many parts are coming out is the part that I hate since I won't start reading a series until it's complete. Can't stand WIPs...

I can cope with WIPs in a Fanfic setting but when a published book is divide up,  I tend to think it is something of a con.

LINK Jenny0719 - Defying Gravity
« Reply #3669 on: January 14, 2014, 06:21 AM »
So, I liked Holding On and Letting Go by Jenny0719 so much that I decided to give another of her fics a try and read Defying Gravity. It's your usual story: girl meets boy, falls in love, certain things happen to keep boy and girl apart, girl gets her happily ever after, but there was something about it that really made me like it. That is to say, I liked this B&E enough that I decided to read the sequel, Between the Sun and the Moon, which I thought was merely okay. The author seemed to have lost her steam somewhere during the fic and it turned out to be more of a really, really long epilogue. I still liked it enough to read the whole thing, But I'd stick to rec'ing only the the first part, Defying Gravity. I rec it because I liked it despite those usual elements that make one want to flounce--like instalove and a typical storyline. It's written well with well developed characters and had me hooked.

Defying Gravity
By Jenny0719
Edward Cullen moves to Seattle when he takes a position as a trauma doctor in the local ER.  But fate has plans.  In walks Bella Swan, the woman literally of his dreams.  It's love at first sight, and after a whirlwind romance, Edward leaves his life and his love behind to travel around the world and help his parents give medical attention to those in need.  But he comes back to something completely unexpected, changing his life and his future forever....

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:  And since it is published in parts , you never know how much the whole book will end up costing you.

Amen. Most of these authors are talented and we would buy their books, they don't always need serializations to keep us hooked. I understand the need to ride the wave of popularity and success but enough is enough.
Oh well, I guess we just have to suck it up. I'll wait impatiently for S Day to finish her Crossfire series. Gideon Cross has me hooked and I can't let go.

Ugh! These books are sitting in my library just itching to be read. I can't wait for the series to complete so I can read them and see what all the fuss has been about. I was so disappointed when I learned she extended the series.  >:(

Chloe Cox's Club Volare series (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) and Sierra Cartwright's Mastered series (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) are the only two series I'm reading as they come out--since each book builds upon the previous, yet focuses on new characters. Essentially they stand alone, but are richer if you've been reading them in order.

Hold on a minute ladies - how could the picture of Rob be from this year's Golden Globes?  Both Robsessed and Robert Pattinson Life have a picture of him in London yesterday in a pub with two fans.  He also has less beard in that pic.   He can't be in two places at one time - its a twelveish hours of flight between LA and London.

Ok, so we've played the "Name your top 10 fics" game many times in the past...  I enjoy it every single time!  How about this time we pretend you're stranded on a deserted island and your solar-powered-reading-device can only have one single fan fiction author on it.   Which fic writer do you choose?  (oh and this magic device would also be updated "magically" with any new fics this person writes ;-) )

I guess I'd probably pick lolashoes...   or maybe AngstGoddess003?
Ohhhh, just the one - I suppose it has to be Knicnort3 I have a soft spot for all her fics even though some of them are very out of the box.  :D

That single phrase is the reason I will never read this fic. Let's get serious people, especially when it comes to money.

I have no rec's for you right now, I am reading so much Sterek, with Sherlock breaks in between :P

Welcome, Leola mae, know that I love you. Never read Volturi Dairy, the theme wasn't my cup of tea, but I've read everything else, and I adore it. I might have to re-read Attic some time soon.

Thank you. I don't expect everyone to read VD. Not every story is for everybody. I don't read everything either. It's unrealistic to expect that someone would. Lol! I'm glad you've enjoyed what you have read. That makes me happy.  :-)

Hmmmm Nolebucgrl,  i guess.  So many it is hard to choose.

Hello ladies,  sorry have not been around much,  with that "Polar Vortex" that hit us and the negative 23 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures we had,  i had pipes freeze and break up in my daughters room on the 2nd floor and come down thru the wall into our Den.  UGH what a mess still cleaning up from it.

How is everyone doing?  Loopy how is the princess?

Yes it is a WIP. I haven't read it yet either, but I have been following it to wait until it is complete. I have to say, that it sucks that TWCS is doing this. I mean, really?? I won't be surprised if she ends up moving all of her stories to a blog like she suggested.
This is why I'm on FWAR. Their host site makes them not post naked pictures, but they are vehemently opposed to censorship.

I love the way the word rolls off the tongue. I also enjoy the way the word lamentable sounds out.  OK, so I'm weird like that.   ;)
