This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Oh Ella, that made me laugh!...I've never tried a swing, I live in a very old Victorian property and I'm not sure the ceiling would be able to take the stress, my electrician had a hard enough time putting up new light fittings!!  Which story is that? The only older Bella/Edward I can think of is The Real Life Of; but their sex life was in need of NO help!

Your mum fell out of a sex swing? Your mum? My mum still pretends I'm a virgin and huffs if someone kisses on TV.

Lol, yep she certainly did and she then told the Dr that it was the best sex she ever had. 
I'd like to think my Mum believed I was still a virgin but that shipped along time ago when she caught me and my babysitters brother getting "friendly" when I was 13.  Good Times. 
 

I can't for the life of me imagine my Mom sitting in a love swing. My Mom is more like Demari's Mom. She uploaded some book to her Kindle the other day and was totally horrified when there was sex involved. She immediately deleted the book and complained: "This book is like a porno! Disgusting!"  Note to myself: Never ever let my Mom get her fingers on my Sony. And Thank God for my reading only in English!

I noticed lately that the hook for our love swing is bent. It's directly over our couch in the living room, so I often have time to inspect it. I'm a little hesitant at the moment to suggest the love swing to hubs.  But then, the couch is under it, so I'd fall not far and soft. Or...the hubs should be the one in the swing! 

Lol, I wish my Mum was a bit more like your Mum as she keeps asking me what books I'm reading and unfortunately there almost always BDSM  or some type of Kink involved and she loves it. 
You be careful when you use your swing next, we don't want YOU breaking a hip.

demaris, oilily sepperl, think my 85 yr old mom is much closer to yours than Loopy's. before she retired at 60, she was the usual conservative type, would negatively comment about some torrid kissing scenes she saw on tv.
After retirement, she began reading my mills and boon books. Then i unknowingly included some blaze books. she didn't give a peep! I also let her watch a sex tape scandal of a local celebrity here and she would comment "he's got a nice butt"  then she also said she wanted to read fifty shades. guess people do change as they grow older, specially if they have nothing to do all day but watch tv or read books  however, i don't think she has ever seen a dildo (a fax machine is incomprehensible to her  ) so a sex swing would be beyond her imagination. 

I'm loving your Mum hun. 
Lol, they certainly do change hun when they get older - my parents have seemed to have got worse since they have both retired. 

Is anyone else still having problems with Calibre & Fanfiction Downloader? I tried to update my WIPs and all the fics from fanfiction.net come back saying they don't exist......it's getting very frustrating. all the other sites updated but that one.

I had a brief moment of joy this afternoon when it let me update all my WIPS. But it is back to saying that the stories do not exist.  *sigh*  I truly hate FFN!

I really hate that site too, I guess I am going to have to go through my List of WIP authors and hope they have posted in another site......last time I tried I didn't have much luck.

I can't believe I won PTS Worst Influence - really!?!

Hmmmm it is such a mystery. 

Lately I've been in a fic funk and haven't found anything new that calls out to me, so I was going back and re-reading some of my favs. I saw there was an update to The Heir and The Spare by sleepyvalentina earlier this month and had a nice refresher. It's one of the very few WIP's I have bookmarked  I think it's also the lightest story that she's got up. Last year I had to force myself to read Art After 5. The summary freaked me out but the writing was so good. The content freaked me out, but the writing was still SO good. I went in thinking "wow, this is not going to end well" and every possible scenario I had in my head was written in that fic. I think the EPOV, Counterpoint was even harder to read because his character was so emotional and sleepyvalentina did a great job capturing that in her writing. I referred to skipping over chapters where characters are dating new people, because this Edward was dating his classmate and still constantly thinking about Bella, even though she was a hot mess in her own right. Just ugh. So much melodrama!

I was reading sleepyvalentina's blog, and it looks like she pulled Art After 5 to publish back in 2010, but kept up the EPOV so a lot of readers disliked Bella solely because her story was nowhere to be found, so she probably seemed like this malicious older woman out to break teenage Edward's heart. Have you all read either of these? I know it's super old at this point but I think it's the only Older Bella fic I've read. I tend to avoid the stories with teenagers dating older characters because I don't think they have enough life experience to be fleshed out.

I really liked Fall to Ruin One Day as well, until the soap opera plot twist was thrown in towards the end on who Carlisle was in relation to Edward.

*Shakes head* I can't understand it... You are a happily married, sweet, loving person who maybe likes to share snippets of her joy-filled life with us?  How can that be a bad influence?   

I just don't understand them! I mean we are all talking about getting sex-swings now! Swings are good 

Lol, I've never been called sweet before. 
We all loved playing on swings in the park when we were younger, so why not when we are older even though it's a slightly different swing. 

Grumble, grumble, grumble.

So Calibre/FFNDL isn't working for me again. And it is stuck on four jobs I started to update last night. One is stuck at 92% and the others are at 1%. What bothers me is I can't remember what the ones at 1% are.  I know what the 92% one is, I was downloading the contest fics for an OLD contest called Boys on Boards from 2011 and it has 11 of 12 done it says. *sigh* I don't want to cancel the jobs on the 1% since I can't remember what exactly they were. But, I'm afraid I might have to. And restart Calibre and see if that helps?

Anyone have any ideas?

Is Fanfiction.net down, AGAIN?

As far as I can tell, FFnet is down now, so you must have crashed it! 

Or I did last night with my updates.  It did the same to me. I clicked on the jobs and it shows the % done, highlight the job and select something like Show job details or Show job description.  You will see the last story chapters being updated.  Highlight it all and copy and paste it to notepad.  After that, I think you can copy the story ID's from the top of the report and try to pull again.  I haven't tried it yet and since FFnet appears to be down for me right now, I won't be able to for a while.

I think we are going to be limited to around 100 stories.  When I get past that, I start having problems. Though, getting updates for WIP's may be more?   

I guess it's back?  I couldn't get it on my phone but FFnet is on my computer.
