Aww, see now my mind's racing trying to come up with a plot bunny for the sci fi one, and there's a contest on FWAR and my 5 other fics I'm part way through writing...so much to write so little time...anyone got a gene splicing machine so I can make three of me and get triple the work churned out??? ...anyone?

I wonder when the craze for BDSM fics will end, Edward with a whip in one hand and a vibrator in the other is starting to get old.

In fairness though I think the dom part refers to the fandom, they are asking for "your lumberjacks, your miners and your construction workers. Throw in some game wardens, big game hunters and feral fly fishermen." Not a whip wielding dom in sight.

Oooo! Construction Workerward. Getting allhot and sweaty building stuff. Yeah, okay. That would be great.

Lumberjackward? I keep hearing the Lumberjack song from Monty Python. I can't see cross dressing Edward.

I don't do wips....I got sucked into this one. It's only six chapters in but it's funny as hell. A laugh out loud read.

Bella Swan didn't believe that opposites attract, until Edward Cullen and his awful hair came into her orbit. A comedy about finding love in the most unlikely of places.

Just finished T&CA. Good read, pretty fluffy ( I suppose...) with a touch of angst...(*frown* wow I've just finished reading and I'm already forgetting the plot?! Hmmm? ) humour, lots of very very nice lemons and a Bella I didn't want to strangle, what's not to like?....

I hear you. I'm so not interested in BDSM (anymore, the curiosity is just gone...) and I'm so sick of nonBDSM fics that still seem to need BDSMificated lemons because it's "in".

I like descritions like that more:

He slid his hands up so that they cradled her face, just staring into her eyes for a moment before he pulled her to meet his lips. So, I'm getting ads for hardwood flooring.

The only hard and wood things I talk about here has nothing to do with flooring. Sometimes I wonder how they come up with the ads they have

Every time I see or hear the words 'hardwood flooring' it reminds me of Season 1 of Scandal and that term is used by a Madam to describe the 'attributes' of her 'girls" Hardwood flooring means no need for 'carpet'....

Lately so do I, many authors are going for quantity rather than quality....and realism?!? - only if they add "Edward took his little blue pill every evening with his vitamins". Some of the situations are so completely out there that I just skip them and hope there isn't any important dialogue.

I do this thing where I read the first ever lemon interaction, to see if the author is any good at it (writing lemons, that is) then if they are I'll start the lemony passages throughout the story, read about 3 lines then skim til its over..That way I get the gist without having to read about every moan and grunt and sigh.....

These last few comments about not liking or skimming lemons have been very interesting for me, as a fic writer. I personally am not a huge fan of BDSM fics. I know a submissive will say they have the power, but I can't help wondering how many women in real life must end up in dangerous positions or are existing in an almost brainwashed state, under the control of sadistic or manipulative men? and that spoils the genre for me. The closest I would come to writing it was my Confessions one shot and that was more like how I would feel if my partner asked me to roll play.

I don't actually like writing lemons, they are the hardest (no pun intended) part of a story to write, especially, if like me you don't want them to sound samey samey as everyone elses. I think the first time I wrote one I had my arm over my eyes, it was that cringe inducing. Sad thing is fics without lemons don't tend to get reviewed and promoted anywhere near as much as the lemon filled variety. I'll write lemons if the story calls for it, but I can't do chapters and chapters of them, and I don't use much of the raw language because it squicks me out,

I have to say I tend to skim lemons now. I would rather read a solid story then Edward and Bella going at it. I keep saying this but my Ex Con is wonderful and there are few lemons in it. Thank goodness.

Honestly my mind runs away all the time with new ideas. I'm starting to post a new, long length fic today which was inspired by a post on RobAttack with manips of Rob on a motorbike because two of the regulars wanted me to fic it.
