This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

I've seen this story in so many peoples favorites, but always avoided it because it's a non canon couple. I was bored at work yesterday and tried it out and could not get in to it. SO displeased because nearly every review on the story is OMG THIS IS SO GOOD THIS NEEDS TO BE ORIGINAL FICTION I'VE NEVER READ ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE WOW YOU HAVE SUCH A WAY WITH WORDS OMG!!! SO GOOD!!! I read a few chapters here and there and then flounced.

This! I see stories with stuff like this and I think "Oh wow! I guess I should read this!"

Yeah, always so so so so bad. Except the funny ones. Then they are so bad they are funny! And forget the angsty ones. It's not angst, it's torture.

Okay, torture to read

I sometimes feel like the world is in on some big joke that I just don't get. Or maybe I just enjoy cheese so much that I have a hard time trying to appreciate serious writing.

This is me with a lot of stories, canon or not (or even ofic). I wonder at why it's so popular. And honestly, there are many stories that turn me off just from the summary. I try to give a story 5 chapters but so many are just hard.

And really? I think a lot of the "great" reviews are really "damn! They finally posted!"

Or maybe "Everyone else loves this so I should too"

But I do somewhat understand that when reading a WIP the flow is different than reading a full story at once. You tend to be more forgiving of errors and things that don't make sense because you've semi forgotten the crap in the prior chapter and just remember the feel. If that makes sense. But that is my opinion.

I just finished My Beautiful Storm by Troublefollows1017

Weather-obsessed Bella finds Edward's journal, leading her on a trip down memory lane. Back then, Edward had run away, hoping to find a new purpose. Bella couldn't wait for her chance to escape, sure she knew what she wanted. Neither one expected this.

Really sweet story, a bit of angst but not bad. HEA of course. Bella is funny as whenever she gets nervous, she spouts obscure weather facts. Mostly high school, but really it is memories of their first meeting amidst current events.

Thanks - we probably need to load the various Troublefollows1017 stories that are not in the index already since she deleted them all.

Until then, I'm not sure if this is the epub or mobi as searching in my google drive never works well....

I have noticed that! When I'm reading something that's complete-- it's entirely possible that the author spent years writing out each chapter and posting sporadically whenever they have a free moment. Usually I notice when there's an overload of lemons and I'm just scrolling and scrolling to get back to the story.

There are so few WIP stories that I've read while they were still incomplete, that it sometimes skips my notice to realize that something can be sitting for months to years with people begging for the author to update, which sometimes increases the amount of reviews something has. Now that I've read all the highest reviewed stories (some which were terrible!) I just read a couple chapters first to see if it catches my interest and then continue on if I like it. Very often I lose interest and flounce

This is a story I meant to add to my last post! Also a story I flounced awhile ago but came back to.

This is the same author that helped write Paper Cut Outs, which was highly reviewed and I just found to be really boring. An interesting take on commitment-phobe Bella, and a bored Edward in a stagnant relationship. It was refreshing to see a different pace to their relationship. Usually there's some instant romantic connection and they're lovey dovey within a couple chapters, but these two really had to work for it in this one.

oh btw!!! how did you like Jake in My Beautiful Storm? I loved seeing the character as a mouthy little boy lol

Thanks for all the congratulations messages everyone. I wanted to go through and find them all and quote them, but baby boy likes me (and only me) to hold him so my time on the computer has been severly reduced recently.

I couldn't stop at 2 either. I have 3, and would have had one more, but my hubby (and my doctor) was dead set against it.

I am not saying I absolutely want another one, I just surprised myself that I am not as against another baby as I thought I would be so soon after delivery.

Thank God! I thought it was only me! I found Paper Cut Outs one of the most boring stories in Twificdom...I practically had to prop my eyelids up with matchsticks to keep from falling asleep..

I got this alert today and it does sound pretty darn good...Didn't know you beta'd FFG? Is there going to be any difference between the FFN and TWCS editions ( i.e. adult content etc..)

No, it's the same on both sites, although the second site is not TWCS.

I finally read the Angels series by drotuno and I was really surprised by it.

I'm not a big fan of Vampward and this stories actually had a lot of my pet peeves in them, but still, I enjoyed reading them a lot.
Drotuno has great original ideas, she ties up loose ends and gives better background than SM did.

I actually liked it better than the original New Moon etc

That said, I'm loving both hers and Jenrar's vampward WIPs right now.

God, Torn is one of my favorite fics, though the more times i read through it, the more things I can get picky about.

Yes, the lemons are plentiful, but I mostly skim them anyway, so I didn't care. But from what I saw while skimming them, they were pretty good, very varied, no routine or pattern she just worked through.
