Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Ok, a couple of things this morning. First, I was reading this:

Forever Bound
Author: Green Fallen Leaves  PM
Edward and Bella are engaged to be married. It is not a marriage of love, it is a betrothal. But can their relationship blossom in to love or are they destined to hate each other?
Follow/FavoriteRated: Fiction M - English - Romance/Drama - Edward, Bella - Chapters: 41 - Words: 155,239 - Reviews: 3,757 - Favs: 2,883 - Follows: 1,229 - Updated: 07-06-10 - Published: 10-23-09 - Status: Complete - id: 5461553

Asside from some grammar errors, it wasn't a bad story.....that is until I got to chapter 33. It feels to me that the author dragged the story out even though it  was over. OMG, I was soooo frustrated :pulling . I am not even going to finish it. I think that I will work on my song based one shot instead.

On a second item, I use Chrome for my browser. My Java just did an update last night, and now I can copy and past from the ff.net site. Not the body of the story, but the header with the story info, and I can also copy my list of favs. Not sure if they changed something or if it was from Java updating. Anyone else notice this? I couldn't highlight anything before.

Yes I have noticed you cannot cut & paste anymore but I don't think it's java, I think it's FF.  They are trying to block the downloading and copying of fics.

I installed a firefox add-on to my mac that ficfangirl rec'd and now I can cut and paste the whole chapter from FFN!  :cheer:

I have firefox on my computer and I have that add on installed. I just prefer Chrome. I wasn't even really thinking when I copied and pasted from Chrome.

I realize that it is ff.net, but I was under the understanding that the firefox add on by passes java, so the java has to be related this some how. I just found it curious that after Java updated, I was able to do some limited copy and paste in Chrome that I wasn't able to do before.

Today,  i made a decision to go through my entire fanfic libray in my ipad and remove those that don't appeal to me based on the summary or based on your previous comments/reviews. First to go was Bella Scotia's Between Ordinary and Extraordinary  ;D

Guess this is my way of easing some of my anxiety on "when will i ever finish all of these??!?  :P" At the same time, it stops me from getting worried about my dwindlng memory capacity on my ipad. Those pretty banners/photos in the pdfs sure eat up a lot of space!

I hoarded a lot when i first joined here almost a year and a half ago,  grabbing those that were pulled from ff.net. Didn't really bother reading any of the summaries. I figured someone liked it enough to request it in PTS so it must be good. Have since learned the types of stories i go for, authors i liked etc. and will keep those.

Of course, i might end up keeping still over a thousand of them but i at least know I WILL eventually read them, specially those that were rec'd by you gals.

So, let the purging begin to help me with my sanity >:D

It gladden's my heart to hear many of you are now reading HP fics.   :D :D :D
The Letter was quite good.  As I said, I'm not a slash reader normally and most of the popular HP are Harry/Draco slash.  And when I think about it? They both seemed a little gay in the HP series.  Neither seemed to be interested in girls too much.  Yeah, Harry liked Cho, but teen boys? Tend to think about girls' boobs and stuff like that.  Harry always seemed oblivious.

The letter did basically fade to black on it all.  So I was good with it.  ;D

I should purge, too.  I have no idea why I've horded all of these fics that were pulled incomplete that I will never read.  It's a sickness, I tell you  :P

I've been trying to get into Secrets and Ties by Simaril You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login (it's Bella/Jasper).  I think that Simaril is an awesome writer (and I really enjoyed Out of Sight, Out of Mind), but I have been really disappointed with the fade to black where lemons should be.  I think that she's probably doing that to stay within stupid Ffn guidelines, but I've found that it has detracted from the story in this case.  I'm not sure why she didn't post it on twilighted like she did for her other stories :(
You held out your hand, and I took it without stopping to make sense of what I was doing. For the first time in almost a century, I felt hope.

:D :D :D  So does it truly count as purging then? But I have to say that I do like the idea.

I can hardly stand to purge fics esp., those that have been pulled.   To ease the strain on my laptop, I bought myself a huge 1tb external drive to store fics.  Who knows if I will ever read them but at last they are there if I want to.  :)

I have my fics on a USB stick. I was concerned that if my computer crashed, they would be gone and some of them wouldn't be so easy to replace.

See, this is why I bought an android tablet with it's lovely micro sd card slot.  And? I would totally remove anything you aren't planning on reading from your iPad.  There's just not enough memory on it.  I only put the stuff I'm actually going to read or reread on my Kindle.  I remove stuff that I thought I would like but didn't.

Calibre has been great for organizing this stuff.  Yeah I download everything.  But I mark a lot as not TBR.  Because I know I will never read wolfpack stories.  Or things that are Bella/Jake.  But someone rec'd it.  So I downloaded it.  And well, with Calibre? It's easier to download everything rather than a couple stories with the Get URLs from webpage.

Of course, my computer has a lot more room when I moved my iTunes library to another drive.  My ebooks may be about 20 GBs, but my iTunes was closer to 200 GBs - mostly movies and TV shows.

So, yeah, dump the stuff off the ipad, but keep anything you may want to read on your computer....

After accidentally dropping a hard drive and losing a bunch of work?  I back up to multiple drives.   :P

Any drive will die at some point.  It's a given.  So it's always best to have it in at least 2 places.

I'm a bit of a gadget freak so I have a lot of drives and computers.  I just have stuff everywhere.  But even backing up to CD/DVDs is good.
