This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general. But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Is it good? I see that it's about sex addiction... sounds like that could be depressing depending on the way its depicted. It gets really good reviews on IMDB.

Steve McQueen ( the director not the dead actor) is a genius! He managed to turn something which could have been just 'pornographic' into a really interesting look at a dysfunction which ten years ago wasn't even acknowledge as one. I would tut and roll my eyes at the term when I used to hear that someone, usually a celebrity who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, was off to re-hab for sex addiction, but Shame put paid to that....There was nothing 'fun' about McQueen depiction of Brandon's addiction. It's a great film but you need to see it more than once to get pass the more 'unusual' elements and see the deeper story...well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

P.S Am I the only one who's heart sinks when I open a fic and the AN says' " Hi everyone, this is my first fic..." I groan and want to close the screen really quickly but...yeah f*ing flounce gene ( though, is it flouncing if you haven't even read the first chapter?)

Why don't you just alternate then. At least that way you will be reading something recommended between the possible crap.

I loved the Gravity series - parts 1 and 2 were the better ones in my opinion.

I can't! If I do that I will never make headway in this journey.....I'm going to suck it up for one more week. Actually that might be an idea a week Up The List and a week Off The List....

God I hate having to vote You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login though I do think it an important element of the democratic society of Twificdom (as you can see by my passport I'm a citizen) But I can barely remember what fic I read yesterday so categories like Favourite Undiscovered Gem are a pain to vote in. And there are a hella lot of fic I have yet to read!...Favourite Snuggle?! F*ck off!

Thanks for the link to this. I just made it about half way through. First I was surprised by how many of the fics I read...then I was thinking

JFC how many more noteworthy fics are there that I haven't read?! Half these fics aren't even in my TBR. *screams like Charlie Brown* UUUUGGGHHHH

Thanks ladies... I'll watch Shame one of these days. I think I remember a lot of talk about this one being a must see but I never managed to see it. Was it the one where all the different people in the movie were somehow connected to each other?

I just finished reading: A Killer in the Shadows by momma2fan. It isn't very long, but it was an awesome story. Totally couldn't tell who the killer was. I would certainly recommend it.

"As you may be aware, FLAG's grabber has recently been unable to connect to fanfiction.net / fictionpress.com. I have attempted to contact them repeatedly over the last couple of weeks, and after a significant number of FLAG's users also contacted them on my behalf, I have finally received a reply from them.
Regrettably, that reply doesn't address any of the issues, and simply requests that I disable FLAG's support for those sites. I have complied with this request for now, however I am attempting to negotiate some kind of compromise that will allow FLAG to continue working with both fanfiction.net and fictionpress.com. I requested written permission from them before launching the service back in 2008, so their request to disable support is a sudden and dramatic reversal of their previous position - in the past, they have always been happy to allow FLAG to operate.

I would very much appreciate it if you could please contact them via support@fanfiction.com or @FICTIONPRESS and request that they continue to allow FLAG to support ebook conversions of stories hosted on their sites. I am currently reading a story that started that way, also with "English is not my first language" and while there were some words misused and what not, the story is really good, and I wish I didn't have things that had to be done so I could finish it. Turns out I had already read her second story and liked it, just didn't connect the author's name in my head.

But there are many stories that I have "not flounced, just left to be finished later" that start out that way, but I give them at least a little bit of leeway to see if they get better.

I just went to FLAG to try and download something and was so disappointed when I saw that they asked him disable access. Guess I have another complaint email to write.

I got the stories I wanted with the downloader in Calibre, but I had previously only used that for my WIP library, just because I'm weird like that.

My guess is that fanfiction is going to come out with their own pdf/epub/mobi downloader that will be a subscription service or something like that.

I am currently reading a story that started that way, also with "English is not my first language" and while there were some words misused and what not, the story is really good, and I wish I didn't have things that had to be done so I could finish it. The one that gets me is "Summary sucks" or "Is better than it sounds in summary".

The summary is like the blurb on the back of a book - it's what makes people want to read it.

If the fic is good, get the summary right or people will flounce before they even begin!

Yes, my darling Leblo ... it is flouncing if you haven't even read the first chapter.

I can't write to save my life but I'm pretty sure I could write a lemon that isn't as cringe-worthy as that.

I just don't get how they come up with this? It's supposed to be a drama fic, no humor there...

So, after looking at Caro's most recent posting of the twifics that are on the 'bad' list and will probably pulled, I noticed that they all have lemon or lemons in the summary. I'm guessing ffn is doing a summary search atm...

You are right, anything that says lemon in the summary is on the s**t list. I think they are planning on going through the all the M's, there were over 300 fics newly listed yesterday alone.

Email sent but I doubt FF will take any notice. I wish I liked FictionPad more, its bloody awful to read from or find your way around come to that.
