  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

For those of you that read Words With Friends...   Do you think you can read it without reading Words with Strangers at the same time?  I think that you can, but it's been a while and I can't remember if you'd really miss out on much?  I feel like WWS was mostly just extra stuff and WWF would still be great without it.  Thoughts?

My friend is new to fan fiction and I want to suggest WWF to her, but I thought it got a little complicated keeping up with both stories at the same time (even with them combined into one LOL).     Don't want to overwhelm her on her second fic! :)
Yes, I think you could. She didn't start posting WWS until something like chapter 11. By that time your friend may want to read it. :)

Very good point!  I sent her WWF and will tell her about WWS just in case she wants to read it.  I do seem to remember a great extra with B/E playing student/teacher. haha

I enjoyed reading them both together, but I had already read quite a few fics by then. It would be nice for her to have the option in case she wants it.

Yep, I agree!   I loved his POV.   I was thinking she might get a little confused with all the A/N commentary... I seem to remember there being quite a bit.  Loved this fic so much though!   Her first fic was Faking It by spanglemaker9 and she loved it so I think I'll officially have her hooked if I give her one more that she loves!  And how can you not love Pennyward?  ;-)

Well I read them seperately, and was ok with it, although there is version around here on PTS that was integrated both fics alternating from one point of view from another, I first read WWF and then WWS, so I think it's not necessary to read them at the same time. At least for me. Hope it helped

You can read WWF without WWS. however, i love EPOV so I really enjoyed switching between the 2 to get both perspectives and additional scenes not in the other. Is your friend the type that wants to know if there is an outtake or alternate POV? if she is, I think she would appreciate knowing about WWS and then let her decide how she wants to proceed.  :)

melanieintn - Planet Twilight
« Reply #1107 on: July 08, 2013, 09:19 AM »
I'm a little iffy on whether I would rec reading melanieintn's Planet Twilight. Can anyone who is abducted against their will truly find love with someone they have no real choice in mating with? That's not the question the author deals with in this story, but it was mine as a reader. The heroine (abductee Bella) thinks she has found her soul mate in Edward (the alien), so the story is about their coming together in a new community that lacks females. In this way it reads very much like a mail-order bride story where females set off to a new frontier to discover a peaceful way of life, far from the bustle of the city. There are biological sci-fi elements which further tie B/E together, which makes the premise less disturbing and the lemons flourish.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
[/spoiler] The plot putters out in the middle for far too long with only events and lemons to keep one interested. Almost flounced when the author started asking for reviewers to tell her what to write about. (I HATE THAT!) But I can't flounce so here you have it. If you can get beyond the abductee thing, it has a nice HEA.

Planet Twilight
Author: melanieintn PM
On a far distant planet, Bella and Edward find love. A true love in a modern society, where dominant males seek out submissive females to complete their household. No vampires, but plenty of aliens. AU, in-cannon, lemons, E/B, A/J, R/E, C/E

I've read one similar to this one. Written in the Stars by Lisa Bryan. This one I liked, they treat their women like queens, not like sub's.

I just want to say thanks to Astro and Ella for their discussion about the forgotten Rockward story.

Without them, I wouldn't have realised I hadn't read Maybe by 107yearoldvirgin and I am loving it so far!

Thanks guys.   :-*

I can't wait to read that one!   I started read the first chapter of The Screamers.   Have a question:

With redweasleygirl aka redandlovingit pulling all her stories, I decided to try two of the complete ones. Unfortunately, Celtic Love by redandlovingit was good and then it ends in a critical spot   >:(  that makes me want to strangle whoever marked this as anything other than WIP. :021:

There is a reason why I don't read WIPs and in this case, I know that the author has decided to take an indefinite hiatus. :pulling

Show me yours and I'll show you mine! by redweasleygirl is 4 chapters, but it really isn't. It's a one shot, plus an incomplete 3-shot. I really liked ch1 as a one-shot on its own (B/E) and could have done without Rose/Em for ch 2-4. So, if you read ch 1 only, it's a nice screw on history where the maiden gets to find out if the man measures up before they are betrothed. heh heh.

(A bunch of redweasleygirl aka redandlovingit stories were just posted on the 152 thread and not in index yet).

First week back at work after 2 weeks holiday and I'm already exhausted. Oh, well - only 53 days left till my next holiday!

I have started You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Damaged Edward, damaged Bella. Two sides of the same scarred coin. When one side is up, the other is down. Language and lots of it. Lemons eventually. It's a slow burn, slow and painful. Mature. Lots of random pop culture references. AH, AU, ExB.

So far, I am really loving it - and it's very angsty and I think it's going to get even angstier!

I finished You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login a few days ago. I know some of you have listed it as a favourite, but I wouldn't go so high. It was a light, fluffy read but I felt that it actually dragged once the lemons kicked in and then it just become a little silly, with too little plot, too much horniness and A/Ns that were longer (and occasionally a better read!) than the chapters!

There were elements that I really enjoyed - Edward's dorkiness and total obliviousness of social norms was kinda cute - but I won't be reading it again.

I think I liked LiMB so much because I had just read Wide Awake and needed something very fluffy that wouldn't keep awake at night with all the angst.   I thought it was simple and sweet.   And your right the commentary was amusing!

Is high fidelity the one Bella had cancer? If so I flounced that, I thought that Edward was a jerk to her.
