Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Mens Rea? What is that?   Related to High Anxiety?
Edited to add ---  I think I have myself all confused!  Is there a High Anxiety and  High Fidelity? LOL   I've been sick and am going to blame the medicine! :-X
This spoiler reminds me so much of
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

:D Always blame the medicine! I hope this helps...

High Anxiety by EdwardsBloodType is the one you might want to stop 2 chapters before the end.
High Fidelity by IReenH is this absolutely addictive fic that Astro rec'd and I cannot stop reading.

Mens Rea - A Guilty Mind is on your list of non-HEA, but I don't think it should be--unless I'm getting the 'real' and the 'alternate' endings mixed up (one is HEA, the other requires a serious tissue warning).

You are forever my hero for helping me and my drug-addled mind!  Darn strep throat! ;-)    Now I've got it!   I'm going to make sure I've got High Fidelity up there on my list to read soon...  I love a good fic that I can't put down!

Hey everyone.

I've finally been able to catch up on here after a week from Hell.

I cannot believe I am saying this but, it is too bloody hot!  24C at 8pm is not funny.  I haven't been sleeping well because of the heat and A/C is not something we usually need here.   ;D

Also, I have been having major issues with my daughter at school - she is the victim of a bully and this week was physically assaulted by a couple of girls in her class.  This has been an ongoing issue with name calling and the like but, I draw the line at violence.  She is only 10 and is showing signs of depression.  The response from the school was not what I would have hoped so, obviously, a lot of my time and energy has been focussed on this.

I noticed a few of you talking about LyricalKris earlier.  I read Call Me Home and really enjoyed it.  It was short and sweet and a HEA - just what I needed.

You just made me want to punch 10 year olds!

Edit: not you. But what you just told. I'm outraged. Can't form a coherent thought.

Greetings fellow Northerner.  Do you need me to hop over the Pennines and have a word at that school?  I am still up because it's too bloody hot to sleep.  Seriously, can you not go outside and waft some cool air this way?  You did right to vent on here, that's what friends are for, to listen and support. Lots of love H xxx    :-*

What the heck is cool air?

We are certainly living up to the image of the moaning English.  Happy first proper summer for over a decade!

lol, heard this several times over the last couple of weeks.  The English, we moan when it's cold, we moan when it's hot, we just seem to be always grumbling about the weather.  First real summer for over a decade, you are right on the mark with that.  But working in this heat is not funny.  I feel like a chocolate fireguard!!  Any idea when it will get cooler?  Oh, and here comes the moan, I suppose when it does it will rain!!  :D

I've heard that this could last into September.

I am hoping so as we go away to sunny Norfolk (hopefully) mid August.

These kind of temperatures are not so bad when you have a bar and a pool at your disposal.  Not when you have to go to work and work!

I am so sorry to hear what you and your daughter are going thru.  It is terrible what kids have to go thru.  I hope things work out and she realizes that it does not matter what they say,  that she is beautiful the way she is ( l know I don't know what she looks like but no kids should feel any other way about themselves.)  We are hear for you  :-*

I feel for you with the heat,  today it was 102 with a heat index of 115.  we get these heat waves over the summer that are ridiculous.  7 days of this heat and I am done.

It could last until September, you have got to be kidding.  I have next week off and I am hoping to get some work done around the house and garden.  Then no more holiday until October, I will have melted away by then.

You are going South, in this heat?  Couple of members of the family just returned from holiday in Constable country.  They said it was even hotter there than here.  I heard that the underground in London was well into the 100's F and also that people were passing out at the test match.  And as you said it's hard working in this weather, our boss even went out and bought us ice lollies this afternoon!

Rickell, what do you reckon?  Think this is a warning, cos we usually get whatever they have weather wise in NYC a few days later.  Limom, sorry you are suffering as well.  Any idea how long it's due to last?  You got any Benjamin type vamp's over there to send some cool air this way?   :D

Am so sorry to hear your daughter is going through that.  :( It actually makes me very mad as well as it happened to my daughter when she was 11 (3 yrs ago). During that age, you will be told by the teachers to let the kids handle their differences so they could learn from the experience/to discern what is right and wrong. It made sense so I let my daughter's action dictate what I would do next. My daughter would come crying to me when we get home from work saying this girl told her this and that etc. I told her to just avoid those stupid ugly fuc king bitches as you don't need people like those in your life (i literally said those actual words) so she avoided them. after a week, the same bitches threw rice at her hair during lunch. it was not physical "violence" but that really made me saw red. Rice today, slaps and punches tomorrow?!?! Though the school will tell you not to confront the kids or the parents but course it through them, the FUC K with that!  Called up the parents of those 3 girls that same night to calmly tell them what had happened so they can discipline their kid. One only had her grandmother at home. the other only had an older sister guardian as the parents worked abroad. the last, i was able to talk to the mother. It makes you realize the situations of the other girls and understand why they do or act that way (apparently, no good supervision at home and 1 skank of a mother  ;D)

Still, their home life doesn't justify their bullying and I made damn sure my daughter knows she did nothing wrong by just being herself. that the problem is with those girls, not her. I remind her she can choose the friends she should hang out with and you don't need to mind all those other people who just bring grief/heartache. anyone who does that to her does not deserve to be HER friend.

sorry to rant, angers me when i'm reminded of what my own daughter went through.

It is a challenge to manage emotions of kids that age,but constant reminders they are loved, awesome just the way they are helps a lot. i told my daughter the best revenge you can have is to get better grades (i saw those girls, so it was no lie to tell her "you are sooo much more prettier than them"). She is now more focused at school, very active and a consistent honor student. now i am the one telling her to not put too much pressure on herself as I am proud of her just by doing her best, she doesn't need to have perfect scores.

i hope your daughter also realizes she is awesome and that this stage will pass. i know how frustrated and scared you feel as well. But hang in there! This will eventually fade and will hopefully make your daughter stronger. i will pray for the continued safety and enlightenment of your daughter as well.

take care!  :-*
