  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Hi all.  It's been a while (2 weeks? 3?) but after getting in some major doo doo, because I forgot to mute the iPad before I logged on to this site and an ad started blasting through the speakers during a scene, well... I had to be very good for a while.  It was rough.  Like an addict trying to go cold turkey rough, and there's like 45+ pages to catch up on!  I'm so glad those ads aren't popping up at the bottom of my screen now, but I see the other ads are still trying to get me to play Warcraft (sorry, already play it) and go to NYU's MBA program part-time.

I saw this on buzzfeed and had to share with all of you.

I just read the today's update on MaryElizabeth23's fic "Pickup Truck" and I just couldn't get into it.  :wtf: I don't think I should read fics until they're complete.   The problem is that there are some wips that I can't NOT read.  Like when kharizzmatik updated Hide & Seek a few weeks ago, I was all over that last update.

A Teambella23 Fic: Freckled, sunburned, and scraped, our lives are lived barefoot and sandy, rolling under the baking sun and surfing the salty water—young, wild, and brave. Volkswagens, bonfires, and "You call that a pickup truck?" We were born into this, but we won't be like them. We're invincible. We're seventeen. We're smarter than that. What's the worst that can happen?

Love the article. Our group does seem to be checking a number of those boxes.  BTW, can I come to work with you?

I'm enjoying Pick-Up Truck.  She was dealing with a tough subject with this chapter, and not a particularly fun one.  I am enjoying the interaction with Edward and Bella with one L, though, as they are dealing with their changing relationship.

I'm waiting for both of these to complete before I even start (So no spoilers!)..which I'm sure, knowing Mary it'll take a year or so...She says she's written a far amount of it though, so....Just finished Kharizzmatik's Schism, really, really liked it; loved this kick-arse Bella.

The other day I was taking to someone about PK's notes on how to download Torrents and I said 'my friend from Australia sent me detailed notes'! And I've lost counts on the amount of times I've been on here at 03.00 GMT? So, yeah, I definitely can tick a number of those boxes...

Where Roads Converge
Author: FluffyLiz  PM
A homeless boy, hitch-hiking in the snow, a woman on her own, running from an abusive relationship. Is she crazy to stop, or are their paths destined to cross? Can this mismatched pair find succour and salvation together, or will their pasts intrude and drive them apart? AH, rated M
Follow/FavoriteRated: Fiction M - English - Romance/Hurt/Comfort - Bella & Edward - Chapters: 25 - Words: 125,188 - Reviews: 2,583 - Favs: 1,048 - Follows: 1,548 - Updated: 08-03-13 - Published: 03-02-13 - Status: Complete - id: 9061275

It sounds like the rushed ending may be her M.O., because her first fic "Wild Child" was like that too.  The story dragged a little in the middle and then the last few chapters become a rush to finish the story.

Thank God I'm not the only one! I like twilight but my bestfriend is in looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove with it so I just had to watch the twilight movies on midnight release (with all the other crazy, rabid fans  :P). I remember breaking dawn part 1 where Bella's demon spawn is about to come out and you hear her bones cracking. It was supposed to be a serious scene but the acting... THE ACTING WAS SO BAD I laughed so hard. I was that jerk in the movie theatre that everyone wanted to shush.

The mommies and teenagers in my row and the row below me all turned around (at the same time  :o) to give me 'the look', I was just waiting for their eyes to start glowing and for them to start hissing at me. I've never been so scared in my life.

No, you are most certainly not in the minority re: the Twilight movies.  The acting was not very good at all and the director(s) weren't that great either at getting the actors to ACT.

Sure, the more the merrier.  If not with me, at least possibly on set somewhere as an extra or background.  Where in the states are you?  You just reminded me that I need to keep an ear out for Ella in southern CA.

Btw, for those in California, I have some pretty strong steel walls around my emotions, but I started tearing up when I saw the father telling his daughter to run if she gets a chance on the news re: the amber alert in San Diego.   Ok, I'm lying.  I was more than just tearing up.  I don't know why it hit me so hard, but it's just so sad and horrible and terrible.  I hope they catch the sonovabitch.
I would rather cuddle then have sex.  If you're good with grammar, you'll get it.

Whatcha been up to??  Does your cousin still think you're writing an article about pron?   :D :D

I watched the BD extras and it's so funny! The director goes on and on about how fantastic SAF does with the whole giving birth scene.  :D

I'm in south Texas, but for the right incentive, I'm sure I could make it to California to see you and Ella.

I stopped reading the paper and watching/listening to the news to avoid crying over other people's children.  It's so sad and troubling to hear about these things.  We'll have to keep the little girl in our prayers.

Do you work as an extra? I've always wanted to do that! I used to know a hippie couple here in NYC that did it for their livelihood--sit in a cafe, drive a cab, walk around Central Park, etc. It always sounded interesting, but the timing never worked out for me to do it myself.

Nothing as glamorous as that.  ;) I'm just one of many foot soldiers in the industry that help get a production completed.  Although, I do know quite a lot of people in L.A. and NYC that make a living as an extra while trying to make it big.  The best part is they can write off all their beauty salon visits, shopping, gas & mileage, etc. come tax time.  Just make sure you have a good accountant.  I have friends who work for casting companies, so they can give me a heads up on any casting calls for productions I'm not working on.

Ok, it's after midnight here in France and I have to wake up in 4.5 hours. :sign0085:

I've always worked in production too, but behind books and magazines--I'm not one usually looking for the spotlight. Since there are so many unemployed actors here, it's doubtful you'd ever need someone else for the background, but if you ever do need someone in NYC, feel free to remember me. Maybe limomx2 can join me!  :D

Hope you catch your Zzzz's...

I always figure we let a lot of the bad/stupid/annoying stuff go because, hey, it's free!

I sure as heck would not pay for a lot of these stories.  Including EP at this point.  So many SPaG errors.   I do wonder where the need to have Bella abused in so many stories.   :P

Can't imagine a guy calling another guy "love". Only gay men.
Or to children.

I don't know why I'm ok with honey, baby, love, etc. but sweetheart is for women and children.

I have a question for you lovely ladies.  Think about downloading stories.  Do you like to have copies with banners, if they're available?  Would you keep an incomplete copy of a story just to have the banner in your archives, even if you also had a complete copy of the story without a banner?

I'll go first, but don't let my opinion sway you.

I like having pictures of The Pretty One, even if I'm going to end up finishing the story on another copy.

Although I like pictures of the pretty one, I don't necessarily like pics of SAF.  So I don't care that much.

And? I download both ffnet's version and TWCS's version with all the pretty pics. But normally I read the ffnet version on my kindle.  Does that answer your question?  ;)
