  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

If I were capable of flouncing, I would flounce this:

He's looking for love, she's looking for anything. Can two people with two different perspectives on life overcome the twists and turns of fate and still come out together in the end?
Rated: Fiction M - English - Romance/Drama - Bella & Edward - Chapters: 20 - Words: 72,551 - Reviews: 123 - Favs: 81 - Follows: 86 - Updated: 02-05-13 - Published: 09-10-12 - Status: Complete - id: 8514344

Why? Short answer: The characters are whiny.  The story is boring.

My advice: Don't bother.

Honestly, I can understand why you can't flounce.  It's like a bad movie, you wait, hoping and praying that the ending is worth it, only to find out it wasn't and that you can't get that time back (or erase the memory)

I used to be like this until I realised I was missing out on much better fics by persevering with mediocre at best.

I always feel guilty flouncing but, have come to the conclusion that my free time is limited and should not be wasted on drivel.

I have finished reading Terroir by thimbles and I really enjoyed it.

Isabella Swan uproots her life on a whim, moving halfway around the world in search of something more. Perhaps she will find what she's looking for in the neatly laid rows of Cullen Family Wines' Hunter Valley vineyard. Sometimes, it is the grafted vine that produces the more vigorous growth.

I was disappointed in the ending though - has anyone else read it and what are your thoughts?

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

This is the problem with fluffy fics, even tho it has drama as a category I would say there is very little to non existing drama. I needed more closure, for my personal way of living vicariously through characters. It was an ending that didn't spell it all out for you.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise this was the one you had commented on.

No, it didn't spell it out and therefore felt unfinished.  I agree with you on the closure.

I love reading about pregnancies and babies, but I hate weddings and proposals!

I just finished Dear Mr. Masen. I liked it a lot for its humor and lightness.

So I'm getting mixed feelings from you and deranged_dreamer. Would you still rec Terroir? Your earlier comment made me bring it up next TBR. I'm reading something heavier on the side and thought this would lighten things up in between.

It's very well written. And should definitely be in your TBR. It's a light reading. Very good if you are in a bad mood.

. You don't get incredible plot twists in it, it's very real. No millionaires. No abusive James or Jacob. No damsel in distress. Even tho Edward is a Prince Charming.

Hello Everyone!  :)

Not sure if this has been posted about yet or not. But it looks like the summer trolls are back at fanfiction.net. As I was downloading completed fic's I noticed this message on a  "Please Help Me"  post.

Please note that your fic is in violation for non-story content as well as interactive behavior. I suggest that you delete and upload on your profile, a forum, or a different website.

Thank you for your time.

Entries not allowed:
1. Non-stories: lists, bloopers, polls, previews, challenges, author notes, and etc.
2. One or two liners.
5. Any form of interactive entry: choose your adventure, second person/you based, Q&As, and etc.

Now they are calling there group "Eliminator."

Have "M" fics started disappearing again? I haven't had a lot of time lately to download but will make time if the witch hunt has started again. :unamused:

OMG!! It's Scarlet Raven! how are you?!!

Thanks again for all your lovely pioneering work that helped save those fics last year. Your google docs sure helped me find the fics i liked and so I didn't go crazy and try to save everything.  :)

I wonder, why doesn't ffnet change their rules so those entries you mentioned will now be allowed? One year since the last plague and they didn't think to make changes to prevent it from happening again?  >:(

I agree with Ella. - should have said D D - sorry!  (I thought I would reply before the kids got up this morning - next time I'll have a cup of coffee first!)

It is a good story and well written.   Maybe the reality of it is the issue I have - I've been spoilt by all the fantastical endings in the past.

Don't let that put you off reading it though.

I have FINALLY started reading Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire.  I can certainly see why everyone thinks this was once a fanfic.  It reads just like a fanfic, although I've read much better lemons in fanfic.  Of course, Beautiful Disaster may have been meant for a younger audience.  I'm having a little trouble believing that the college authorities would allow Travis to go around beating people up in the cafeteria without taking some disciplinary action against him, but that's probably just me being a difficult, rational adult.

I'd do Charlie.

He'd have to shave the 'stash, but yeah, I'd still do him and have babies with him and also sex up his son-in-law.

Just sayin'...

I loved Terroir - do not bump it down the TBR. It's a fairly short read too.

I flounced that. It read like a bad fic.
Maybe if it was a fic I would be more lenient towards it.

Add Ficfangirl into the mix as well.....  She is also going crazy with the downloading and blaming me  :D :D :D :D

Truthfully, though, I'm hoping I got all the authors I like's stuff.  Because if they have OS with few reviews, I may not have them.  Also, I mostly have Bella/Edward stuff.  Though if it is complete and has over 900 reviews, I should have it.

Are you downloading in pdf or epub format? I used to only do pdf (I dunno know why, before I knew better I guess lol) but now I will only download in epub....I just hate that I did so many in pdf :/

I finished Higher by Sexylexicullen and actually really liked it....I kept expecting more angst than what she put in there but thats's just because I read so many heartfail fics. I does anyone else know of any fics that are set in the 90‘s? I know there was one in the 80‘s but i'm hoping there are more like higher...

I started Practice to Deceive and am really liking this one also...though i'm getting impatient for the hurt-so-good drama to happen

I saw her today. I wasn't impressed. But he wanted her, and that was enough for me. She was just collateral damage. AH ExB
