  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Being at home with two sick Kids is no fun and keeps me from writing here  :(

Well, I can still read as Long as they don't kill each other, right?

Sooo, since I filled my kindle with random fics I've read:

Everlasting/Ever After by BookwormBaby2580
very different, but pretty good, that was a Bella I really liked!

Dead on my feet by Cesca Marie
a Cancerward fic with very intense moments, but also funny parts, I loved it!

How To Save A Life by unholy.obsession
Is this considered Angst (I#m still not sure what Angst means...)? Very intense but really good. Bella and Edward behaved like the messed up Teens they were...

Blue Monday by dollybigmomma
Soooo sweet that I got cravings for pickles and salty stuff (ahem, not THAT  ^-^ )... but I liked it, good after those other two fics before, a quick, sweet read.

Anyway, just started
Time Continues On by PJJ0930 (Jasper/Bella)
when you read in the first chapter that Bella reads "Witherington Heights" and gets a "message" at the spa, is it worth to continue?  :D

Sooo, Astro, I wonder if this is the first time someone had to bail you out?  >:D ;)

LOL! A story I was rereading had Bella reading Whuthering Heights....  Sigh...  Spell check would have caught that.  :P

I wanted to read Blue Monday.  I think I only had it in PDF, but now I see someone gave me a doc version.  I can make a mobi out of that.  Adding it to my kindle now..... :-*

kts - The Western
I decided to give kts another chance after A Slow Boil and just finished her second story, The Western. The writing and the story is definitely better. I liked it (not great, but good). It wasn't what I thought it would be, which turned out to be a good thing. It's all EPOV and I liked him. Surprisingly, I liked Bella too since she's actually shown to be smart in this. Pretty quick, not heavy, not a mobward, HEA.

Edward is a hit-man with one rule; he doesn't do women. When he learns his next target is Bella, he makes a decision that ends up changing his life - and hers.

Wasn't Legends of the Falls the one where he tips his hat and water springs up making him look way too sexy? That was nice. *sigh*
I liked Brad in Thelma and Louise in his tighty whities.  :P

Thank you to Ella and Mernzi for paying my bail and getting me out of jail so quickly!

Also to my very own public alert system (Booked and D_D) and the rest of you who sherlocked the instructions for posting bail.

Now I need to go back and catch up on the 8 pages I missed during my incarceration, hell week last week and my subsequent mini-breakdown, and the four days that my parents were visiting.

Big night here - I get out of of jail, State of Origin (football) Game 2, and Australia has a new Prime Minister.

It's all very exciting!

Vodka is being consumed  :djparty:
I didn't realize you were in jail hun or otherwise I could've bailed you out - well, there's always next time. ;) :P
I loved that I was the only one who was "named & shamed" on your wanted poster.  :D

Yeah, I think it's worth reading, but don't rush to it. Based on what I've read of your preferences, I would rec not getting put off by implied statements in the beginning and let the story play itself out. I found myself worrying that I wouldn't like certain subjects that would arise, but was pleasantly surprised when I thought what was going to happen didn't.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
[/spoiler]. I hope that makes sense. Any way, it felt like a quick HEA, which I like now and again. I'm off to read What If now.

I know a bunch of you ladies still read real books, have you heard the latest kerfluffel? A new "author" ripped whole chunks out of Easy by Tammara Webber and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and used them in her book, Amazingly Broken "by" Jordin Williams.

I just read about this on GR - I actually haven't got around to reading Jordin Williams' book yet, I think I might read it next out of curiosity.  :o
It looks like she just copied and pasted huge amounts from Easy and BD and just changed one or two words.

Yeah I had it on my TBR too. The woman is now claiming to have had it ghostwritten, even though it says on her profile (well did before she started deleting everything) that she was a ghostwriter herself, and decided to finally write her own novel and get credit for her work. WTF?

H@ly cr@p! The nerve of some authors--and not just that, but the publisher/editor too. I mean, could they have picked two more popular books to steal from? It's weird they thought they'd get away with it. Of course the alternative is that it was accidentally plagiarized (although the screencaps make it apparent it is purposeful) with writing so generic that someone else wrote and published it first. Thanks for sharing and reminding, I still have Easy on my TBR.

Isabella moves to Florida to attend college and get away from her abusive father. In art class she meets the strong and tattooed up Edward. She agrees to be his art partner and she'll find out that he's just as damaged as her and they can help heal each other.

From Amazingly Broken:

Her mother died in Iowa and Elana was left to fend for herself with an abusive and drunken father who couldn't care less about her well being. After years of heartache and pain she graduated from high school and moved to Florida to go to college with her best friend Tiffany.

A new beginning...

That’s where she met Jaxon. He was everything she didn’t need. He was a cocky, tattooed, and a beer drinking musclehead. He was the type of guy that she normally would have avoided given her circumstances but when he offers her a bed to sleep on she can't say no.

She never thought that she would discover they weren't much different from one another and that he had his own secrets and scars he didn’t want revealed to anyone..

I've always thought Brad Pitt was one of the prettiest men ever, and I adored him in Legends of the Fall. I'm a sucker for long hair, so he was perfection in that movie for me.

The first movie I saw with Brad was Seven.  That was enough to put me off.  Really, though, I loved him in the Ocean's series.  But then George Clooney is more my style. Brad is okay.  But he looks homeless man more than I like.
