  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #4 - We are crazy talkers here!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Am not reading that one, deleted it from my TBR and ipad.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I read High Anxiety as a WIP.... Imagine how that was.

I wouldn't say it's a Non-HEA but it wasn't the best ending ever, this is one of those fics that I will never read again.

Completely off topic here but I watched Movie 43, I don't know why I did it. But it was terrible I still can't get some of those images out of my mind.  :banghead:

I'm just saying if you ever want to watch it or feel the curiosity to watch it just remember that

And now that I've probably grossed you out I will go and watch a Disney movie or something sweet and innocent and try to forget that I saw any of that.

Nicholas Cage -  :sign0137: Can't stand him. Also can't stand Jeff Goldblum.

Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, George Clooney - all good.

Let's not forget Matt Damon, if we're talking Oceans movies - I watched Beyond The Candelabra on the weekend (just to spite my 70 year old father, who was visiting and can't handle the gays  :D) and it was like going back in time! Although Rob Lowe (St Elmo's Fire - le sigh) was freaky funny weird as the plastic surgeon.

Anyway, I think this is the water dancing, hat tipping scene from Legends of the Fall:

But Brad Pitt in Troy - holy moly!  :o

I grew up with a boy who looks exactly like Brad Pitt - in fact, he has even aged better than Brad and he has the most amazing blue eyes! I had the biggest crush on him from when I was about 12 until I was nearly 30 - at a family birthday, my older sister was talking about how hot he was and I looked over and saw him standing beside his 9-months-pregnant-with-twins wife and the crush was over.

He didn't have a very nice personality though, so I guess it was more lusty than crushy. Plus, he was his father's son and his father is just a horrible sexist pig - and verbally (and physically, I believe) abusive of his wife and daughters. His father desperately wanted us to get together, but expected me to be the doting housewife. He used to lecture me about how I was wasting my life by going to uni and then teaching.

The son isn't quite so misogynistic, but his first and second wives both kicked him to the curb, so I might have dodged that bullet.

Hmmm - why can't I get these clips to embed?

I liked High Anxiety - it's on my fave list - but I did read it years ago, and I am more discerning in my tastes  now, even though I still can't flounce.

How can a fic that features a homemade Edward pink sparkly dildo not be good!  :D :D :D

I remember it being a HEA - but it should have ended in the present - the epilogues ruined it!

There is also a buttsex outtake - that gives quite an education for those of us not initiated in the ways of the exit hole!  :o

Thanks for the reviews, I am definatelly skipping it until I have nothing else to read. I don't generally mind non-HEAs, but the structure of the whole story is kind of tiring so far. Reading it as a WIP would have been pure torture to me, I am already skipping big chunks of the story.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I never understood the point of that movie being made, so I wouldn't watch it anyways :P Thanks for the warning!

I wouldn't say it's a Non-HEA either. But it does end happier without the epilogues; the epi's make it more realistic. Overall, I'd still keep it in my top faves.

I don't know how I feel about this.

Let me ponder this for a moment . . .

Hmmmm . . .

It's such a waste!

Here I am, sad, lonely, terminally horny, and there's Loopy, with a hot young PT in her bed and she's reading a NOT ALLOWED book!

I don't even read when it's just me and something I ordered online that needs batteries!

I think of skipping/flouncing High Anxiety. I think I will like the storyline, but the alternate POVs are tiring. You get the saem day and events described by both characters (E & B), but the EPOVs seem kind of rushed, especially when describing events we've already seen through Bella's eyes.

(Does this make any sense?!)

I flounced for the same reason

Thanks to all of you guys for pointing out that High Anxiety doesn't exactly have an HEA...   So, was the epilogue as bad as the one for Wide Awake?   That fic ending was SO much better without the epilogue.

I flounced High Anxiety out of boredom.  Well, I put it aside to read something more interesting.

Too much "Life is so angsty" without any background.  Everyone doing drugs.  Yeah, I was bored when I lived through similar situations as a teen.  I just didn't feel it. Reminded me of my sister for whom everything is a big drama.

This is probably the real reason I don't like "angsty" stories.  Unless they are really well written? So that they forcefully drag you in? They just seem overly dramatic for nothing.  :P

That's my other thing though- those kinda grubby needs a shower, but still pretty men. I mean, hell, haven't we all wanted to give our Rob a shower once in a while, cause he looked dirty? >:D
I love grungy looking guys. I have a bit of a thing for Simon Neil, the lead singer of Biffy Clyro.

As for showering Rob in my mind it never ends with either of us finishing the shower clean though.  :P

I really don't like Justin especially when he has his "pube" hair going on.  :sign0137:

Loopy, I really think I might not love you anymore!

Apart from 2 women about 10-15 years ago, my bosses have always been men. My current boss is the best looking boss I have ever had.

My current boss looks like Mrs Brown!

It didn't bother me that they were smoking weed or drinking.  That's normal for teens.  But not angsty. Just boring to me. When I was a teen, I used to hang with my older sister & her friends.  I sat and watched as they smoked weed & drank beer.  I didn't like either.  But the music was good.  And my parents let her go if she took me because she was the responsible one LOL!

Probably if I read more, it may have gotten better.  But if it hasn't grabbed me by the 3rd chapter, I'm looking for something new.

I have just finished Fridays At Noon (and Once Upon A Saturday).

Good fic.

I'm even working my way through the outtakes, which I don't usually do.

If it's on your TBR, keep it there. I liked it, although the climax wasn't as huge as I expected it to be - in fact, the biggest angst
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
happened well before the climax so the actual climax was more a resolution and it felt a little predictable and a tad rushed.

I was expecting something really gut-wrenching in OUAS, but I actually loved it. It was a lovely ending
