Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

:wtf:

Does anyone else check out reviews when deciding what to read on FFN?  I do and I am trying to figure out why one "reviewer" essentially writes a book report for each chapter, summarizing EVERYTHING that happened in it.  I've seen them do it over and over - I think someone should explain to them the difference between a review and a summary.

 :D :D :D
I only read reviews when I am not worried about knowing everything that happens. But that sounds a little excessive. :P

Typically, I don't read the reviews. I think the only time I did was Dusty. I just checked to see if they had given those two a break. Still can't get over that story...I stopped reading about a third of the way in. Anyway, do an anon. review on the reviewer..lol

I remember last year when Rob and KS attended coachella....those pics showed the beginning of the end of Robsten.

True - I sincerely hope she threw out that disgusting t-shirt with the shredded back to it.  You'd think she could afford a new or at least a used t-shirt in better condition.   I so badly had a desire to be there walking in back of her and unsnapping the black bra snap and just keep on walking.   Re: reviews - if its a fic I'm reading I do read reviews if only to see if anybody else has the same reaction that I have or how far off base they are.  Otherwise I don't bother if I'm not reading the fic or trying to decide to read the fic in the first place.

re reviews: Most reviews are BS, hence not worthy reading so i don't bother much at all.

re Rob + Kristen: If you look at them both, they dress far under their income level.  Then again, many people with money do that so meh.

I don't read reviews often but sometimes I find them better than the fic.  :P :P :P
I'm the same with books, I don't tend to read reviews that much anymore especially from book blogs as most of them love blowing smoke up the authors ass even if the books crap they rave about it.  >:( >:(
But I do like to read the odd ones that the lovely peeps from PTS read as some of them really make me laugh especially when someone thinks a book sucks.  :D :D

For the whole Rob & Twigs thing, I'm not sure if I really believe that they are engaged and IMO he could do much better than her.  We will see if they actually make it the alter.

I only read the story summary, skim the epilogue to make sure I get the HEA for EXB and start reading. If a story seems to be moving to slowly I will jump ahead and skip a few chapters.  I just finished reading Overtime by Dreamrider and I skipped a few chapters. It wasn't a bad story, but for me, it dragged a bit in the beginning.

I have to agree with you.  I dont think she is all that either.

She does appear to be.....different? Who knows...the heart wants what the heart want. We have all read enough fics and books to know that love/relationships do not follow a script.  I still heart you Rob :-*

Have you ever listened to her music? Again, different.

Ruth we are so in sync with our feelings on that horrible Tee she wore. What's she been up to lately? I see that her choices in movies are getting better. Instead of going for the main role she is taking parts in films with solid actors.

With respect to FKA Twigs, I've laisted to her music and it doesn't jive with me.  With respect to Kristen, she recently signed onto Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk a film directed by Ang Lee.  She also has a Kelly Reichardt film and a Woody Allen film in the works.  Clouds of Sils Maria also debuts in LA and New York this week.

Re: Kristen - she's evidently upped her acting game.  She got critical praise for her role opposite Julianne Moore playing the daughter in Still Alice.  She just recently won the French version of the Oscar for Clouds of Sils  Maria.   She had her awkward moment at the awards show because she doesn't understand French.  I'll see if I can find the article.   She's evidently getting some praise for her fashion sense being with Chanel (or the knockoff brand of Chanel) which made some of us giggle and go "here's another disaster" but its evidently working out.   I hate to think I'm going to have to eat my words.   I don't have anything against twigs.  Rob has eclectic taste in music.  Who knows - it'll either work or it won't.  I don't see it working based mainly on interviews that she's done.  She doesn't like the attention.  Rob gets the attention.  That's a relationship killer right there.   All Sia did was go to a concert with him and the paps went wild.   Sia is bi-sexual, she was only interested as a friend (as is Katie Perry) and Sia was so happy when the attention went away - and Sia is used to the paps following her.   I foresee a problem.  I am not going to stop following Rob because of her.  Whatever floats his boat......

I have to be honest, Kristen's roles generally seem more interesting to me than Rob's and if we're going ot call what she's doing upping her game, then so is Rob.  But that's my take.

I like her short hair by the way.  She needed to lose the long hair - she was starting to look like a crack addict with the messy uncombed look.

My only problem with her is that she seems to play the same character in all the movies I've seen her in.

But then, that has worked for Tom Cruise, so ....

I listened to a couple songs by Twigs.  Not my thing either. But I don't have a problem with her otherwise.  I don't really care who he is with as long as I can still admire him from afar LOL!

The only one I remember reading I can't find.  It was a long OS, so it may not be what you want anyway.

See, there's just some things I don't get. I have read/heard so many times that she does not like the attention. She is arguably, dating one of the hottest guys ever...and she is in the entertainment industry!!! Idk, but I sense a conflict.

:iagree: . It isn't a secret that anyone in the entertainment business is a target for paps and they have no privacy or very little privacy in their personal life. I am not sure that I believe that she dislikes the attention as much as she says. Not to mention that I have heard that she has discussed her personal life during interviews, including her boyfriend. To me if you don't want attention from the paps you just don't discuss your life outside of what you do. I still think that she is just using Rob to further her own career, but like I said we will see if they make it the alter.  Plus who knows if the relationship will last once he is back to doing movies with a full schedule and doesn't have time to hang out with her.

tricklem,

I agree with you.  From a financial standpoint, the relationship is far more beneficial to her.  Say what you want, but being Robert Pattinson's girlfriend has opend up doors for her that she may never have had access to.
