I just went back to look at the pic again and wouldn't you know - its the one pic I can't get to download.  I'll try again later.  However - I did find another gem on Robsessed.  twigs has given an interview to the New York Times and talked about Rob.  Geesh - in the past that used to get Kristen in trouble.  He keeps his mouth shut.

From The NY Times

Ms. Barnett likes to say she’s “masquerading as a pop star,” while also being sucked into the vortex of “Twilight,” with photographers around the world chronicling her relationship with Mr. Pattinson. “It’s really hard — I can’t begin to explain how awful it is,” she said. “It makes you want to just stop everything sometimes. It makes you want to smash your face into the mirror."

Worst of all are the racial insults — she is biracial — on Twitter and Instagram, some of them from die-hard fans of Mr. Pattinson. “It’s relentless,” she said. She insisted that the attention their relationship draws does not help her professionally. “There’s no amount of songs I can sing or dances I can dance that will prove to them I’m not a monkey.”

“I didn’t see my life going this way at all,” Ms. Barnett said of recent events. “But it’s worth it. I’m so happy.”

 .....

Ahead of rehearsal this week, she met Mr. Pattinson on a Chelsea street corner in broad daylight, no tinted S.U.V. in sight, and strolled off with a hand around his waist.
It's sad to read that the NY Times are blaming Rob fans for the racial insults being sent to Twigs. Hopefully they'll edit the article and correct their error.

If you want to read the full interview, check it out over at NYTimes

I think if she would stop giving this type of interview, then some of the haters might shut up, some would put down anyone he dates, but every time she gives an interview and talks about Rob's fans, she stirs the pot.  Coincidentally getting herself more publicity, if she really wants people to stop believing she wants the attention being his girlfriend brings then she should make sure interviews focus on her career, not her personal life.

I want to believe she is in the relationship for the right reasons, but every time she does one of these interviews I question her sincerity more.  And we all know The New York Times probably wouldn't be as interested if she was just FKA Twigs, not FKA Twigs Robert Pattinson's girlfriend.

Me thinks she dost protest too much.

I'm liking being called Lola, it's not too different from peeps calling me Lo and it's better than being called Gran or Grandmother as I'm far too young for that.  :P :P
I'm sure if I got peeps to call me Lola the hubby would end up singing The Kinks to me (which is never a bad thing)  :D
I've been telling peeps I'm gonna be "Nana" but they still call me Gran.  >:(

Talk about generation gap! Never heard of that song by The Kinks.  ;D :-\

This is what i automatically sing when Lola is mentioned  :P :D :D

Great, I can no longer access this site from my laptop unless I disable my adblock software, WTF? I know the site needs ads to pay for itself, but this site uses more ads, and more intrusive ads, than any other website I've ever used. It's so UGLY with all the glaring, moving ads.

You are so right.  I question how much of a "couple" they really are. I tried to listen to her music on Youtube, but I couldn't even get through one song before I was changing it. Not my thing for sure. She is fake and completely transparent. Oh, she wants to be know for her music but brings up her personal life and Rob all the time? Pathetic. I don't care that she is bi-racial. I am very curious to see how she does when he is busy with his next movie. I wonder how much of a draw her concerts will be when there is no chance of spotting Rob.

That's exactly what I was saying a few pages ago - once he starts filming his next move and maybe doing publicly when his already completed movies get released in the U.S., we will really see if this relationship is going anywhere.

I agree that it is likely there are many people going to her shows hoping to spot Rob.  I checked out a couple of her videos, I won't be buying a ticket to see her, but I am sure she appeals to some people.

I could care less what her race is.  When they first went public, it was nice to see Rob look so happy and relaxed.  Since all her interviews and the April Fools "slip" by her friend, there seems to be a definite change.

I don't care if she's bi-racial either.  I do care about her motives.   I'm glad Rob is happy - if he is.  If it weren't for the following, I'd say go for it guys!.  However:

She says a) she doesn't want to be famous, b) she hates the attention, c) she's going with Rob who is getting the attention and it has nothing to do with her but it bothers her?
1.  She's giving all these interviews to well-known publications: for example The New York Times (who could care less about her and wouldn't look at her twice if she wasn't going with Rob. She's also done an interview with Glamour (UK) and another fashion type magazine (also UK edition), USA Today who probably wouldn't look at her twice either.  I can't remember the other publications.

2.  She's doing social media - the bathtub pic and the Jean Paul Gautier pic; she did the pic in the breast chair (why) - it got noticed and she doesn't want to be noticed?  Again - there are others but at this point its more than I can think of and remember.

3.  She made it to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon which would probably not have happened without Rob. Bobbie and Marcus made it onto the Tonight Show also thanks to the Rob factor but they've been at it for years and already had a music rec (no doubt in this country thanks to the Rob factor).  People used to go on the off chance they'd run into Rob.  Undoubtedly some people still do but these days its more for the guys themselves (and I'm leaving out Sam) because the chance of running into Rob is very slim.

4.  He likes his business to be his business but she's currently making his life everybody's business.  It isn't bothering him? Has he changed that much?   I don't think so because you haven't gotten anything out of him or his parents or his sisters or the Brit pack (which makes one wonder what they think of all this).  All you've gotten from anyone else is a supposed friend of hers with the loose lips who goes Oh They're Engaged.  His manager and agent haven't confirmed it.  If she has a manager or an agent, they haven't confirmed either.

As everyone has said - what happens to her musical career (will people still show up to hear her sing if Rob is in Germany filming Brimstone or out doing publicity for Queen of the Desert or filming the other two movies in pre-production that haven't confirmed a filming date?  She won't be getting any attention.  How is that going to go over?   Whatever else I was going to say has gone out of my head when I started typing.  I don't even know if this is making any sense.

Ruthhazelton,

I completely agree with everything you said. I've thought for a while that in the very least, FKA Twigs being Robert Pattinson's girlfriend is such a boost to her career.  Maybe they're the real deal, I have no idea, but they're relationship is a puzzling one.  And I'm not sure I like the vibe she gives off.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
I don't really know what to think about FKA Twigs. She seems to make him happy. I don't know that I agree though with your comments about her interviews. She was somewhat popular in England and was up for awards before Rob. So the only enhancing he does is in the US  Doing interviews is normally something you do if you are trying to get your music out there. And frankly, most artists will grab any PR they can get because it's free and the record companies require it. Yeah she doesn't have to talk about Rob. But he is in her life and SO's come up in interviews. Frankly, I always thought the "keeping it quiet" was more Kristen than Rob. He is low key. But he supports his friends.  The social media pics? That just may have been something she got talked into by a friend.  She never did it before. At least she wasn't showing anything.

Watching her videos?  She kind of reminds me of Madonna. Voice is okay. It's more about the dance. And though some songs are okay and may grow on me if I listened enough, they will never be my favorites.

As for them being engaged?  Well, we all know Rob likes a good joke, so it may have been an April fools joke or it could be real. Either way, I still think he's cute. Hey, I'm married so it wasn't going to happen anyway  LOL!

Ella - it goes without saying that he's cute and the older he gets the better looking he gets.   He hasn't lost the wonky legs or the manners and niceness that people find endearing.  and yes I know the only enhancing he does for her is in the US.   Its just the statements she made several months earlier - she has no desire to be famous, she has no desire for the publicity - all she wants to do is perform - and yet she's giving all these interviews like the New York Times.  She's equating the the haters on Twitter as typical Rob fans (as did the New York Times which is what has Kate and the other 3 so upset on Robsessed).   The media has never gotten the demographic for Rob fans right in the first place.   Everyone I knew who was reading Twilight  when I was was all over the age of 40.  Most of us here fit that category.  No teeny boppers here.  I don't know - I thought in the beginning that she'd be good for him and the longer they are together - something just seems off.  and yet she wore regular glasses the other day in New York and I thought how normal it all was.   I keep swinging back and forth.

I suppose I'm giving myself away, but I guess I should admit that I'm probably the youngest regular in this thread. I started reading Twilight when I was 24ish (when Eclipse was in theaters) and my friends were talking about it. But I will admit that it does seem that most of the major fan fic writers are older.

Maybe the Claritin was for her.

She could just be very naive in thinking she doesn't have to think before she says something in interviews. There will always be people that just want to be nasty for the sake of being nasty. Look at all the nonsense that goes on at FFN - the gestapo vigilantes and the vile "guest" reviewers.  It's people like them that put out the vicious Tweets about her and her commenting feeds their egos.

I think the age range of the Fandom is wide, my daughter is in college and I am obviously not - we both are fans. I like that the interest is spread across generations.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
There are a lot of crazies in this Fandom. And? The Robsten lovers will never accept her because they keep thinking Rob and Kristen will get back together. I am not saying they are the nasty ones but there is a definite fringe there.

I grew up in California.  My parents aren't overly prejudiced . Seeing a black/white couple is not a problem for me. But there are still parts of this country where this is a problem. And there are Countries where this is a problem.  Online people come from every where. And they don't feel the need to be polite when they hide behind the computer.

Dasbayio, I think Ruth was talking more about Rob's fans as compared to Twilight fans in general when she talks fan age. ;)

Ruth, I think maybe she doesn't want the attention personally, but when you first get started in any business that depends on fame for sales, it's hard to know when to stop. If she wasn't dating Rob, she still would probably have done the same things and no one would have cared.  I see your point though. And granted I don't read Robssessed all the time. But I do look at gossip magazines and she doesn't hit them. At all.

My problem is I compare people like her to the Kartrashians and the Paris Hiltons  of the world. She just doesn't seem as bad. But maybe it's early days.  ;)

Racism/prejudice is a fuzzy topic for me.  I think it can be a problem in some ways.  That said, I do feel that there is a hierarchy (of sorts) of prejudiced views and some are socially acceptable and some not. And some forms of bigotry are more subtle.  Couple that with cultural differences and different cultural lenses and it gets messy.

And yes, I get that now, but I do stand by my comments.

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree: :iagree:
Seriously couldn't of put it any that better myself.

I honestly had never heard of her until she started dating Rob, I thought it was maybe cos of my age but my daughter (who's 16) said she'd never heard of her until then either. I think it's cos she does the sort of music that isn't played much on the radio as it's not mainstream.  ;D
So it's obviously enhanced her status over here as well.  :)

Ella you can't say that, as otherwise it'll never happen for me and my baby as we're both married and I refuse to believe that.  ;) :P

I love the Manillow I saw him live with my bestie a few years ago - he was great.  :)

A transvestite is probably more my style.  :P :P

LOL! I just didn't want to say that I am too old for him.  I have a niece his age.   :P

You may be an almost Lola, but you are still close to his age.  Maybe if I looked more like Demi Moore.  :D :D
