Our house was built in 2005 and has alarms built-in. They are pretty much required on all house sales since I first started buying houses in the late '90's. But what I found interesting was when we had solar panels installed a couple years ago, they also installed CO2 detectors. The contractor told us the county wouldn't approve any installation if there were no smoke detectors or CO2 detectors. So it was part of the installation to make sure we had both and install them if we didn't. And the inspector did check.  I guess it's good.

I just wish they hadn't put one of the alarms in the hallway near the oven.  Whenever I cook something on high and then open the oven, the alarm goes off.   

I would have thought that smoke alarms would be mandatory, but its not even something that the chimney sweeps look for when they do the annual check of the apartment.  They check the furnace for fumes, all of the exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathrooms and the chimneys (even if you don't have a fireplace), but they never have asked about smoke alarms.

Well, California is known for its excessive building regulations. But then it is good when you survive a 6.9 earthquake with only a few broken windows.

Thanks hun, two days later and everything still stinks and is kind of grimy from the smoke. Gotta get it cleaned ASAP though as my daughters due on Monday, so it would be nice to be able to have the house not smelling icky.

I did find it amusing that she is asking what she should update next and then says of course I can't guarantee I will do it.  So um, why are are you asking opinions?

Thanks hun, I don't think I've ever been more stressed over anyone having a baby.
Just hope that if bump arrives on time it's not during one of her exams on Monday as she's doing her GCSE's and has 3 of them that day.

I love the woman's fics but she does my head in sometimes as she has done this a couple of times before and then after posting on her blog she then moves them back to FFn and the cycle starts all over again.

Loopy, glad you are all ok. We had a kitchen fire a few years ago. Singed the wall. Good thing that was it bec it was the gas tank that caused it. Thank god it didn't explode and our fire extinguisher worked. FYI, you have to have fire extinguishers "reloaded" every year, whether you  used them or not. Well, you can check if the needle in the gauge is in the red as it means you need to reload. If you're lucky, it could last 2 years before reloading.

And smoke alarms in homes are not mandatory here...third world country and all

On Rob and Twigs, whatever makes Rob happy is good for me. But man, after finally watching those youtube links, her music is...not to my liking  She seems to have a decent voice...i think she would sound good if she sang a standard ballad...but she might not  have a powerful / unique voice enough to really stand out if she went that route.
I forget, did we talk about Lady Gaga's performance of the Sound of Music at the Oscars? It was amazing!

I belong to two FB groups: Ceoward Lovers and Famouswards, i think. Haven't visited them since 2014 though. I try to stay away from any drama. This is the only site a go to as i love the people in our thread. 

After over a year, am finally reading a bodice ripper (Stormy Persuasion by Lindsey). I've missed it! But it takes some getting used to again as i keep thinking, 4 weeks in a ship? Send a letter by hand? Where is the billionaire's private jet when you need one

I'm liking being called Lola, it's not too different from peeps calling me Lo and it's better than being called Gran or Grandmother as I'm far too young for that. 
I'm sure if I got peeps to call me Lola the hubby would end up singing The Kinks to me (which is never a bad thing) 
I've been telling peeps I'm gonna be "Nana" but they still call me Gran. 

I've only heard a few songs Twigs and they were okay, but nothing I would have on repeat so for a one time listen they were alright.
I'm sure someone on here mentioned Lady Gaga's Oscar performance or was it on FB (I can't remember), but I'm with you hun it was amazing, she really smashed it. 

CharReader:  Did you see the pics on Robsessed today with Rob on the Citibike in New York City yesterday?  The one pic that caught my eye was the woman on the sidewalk that he flew by who was on a cellphone and her eyes are huge like she just realizes who went by on the bike.

I just went back to look at the pic again and wouldn't you know - its the one pic I can't get to download.  I'll try again later.  However - I did find another gem on Robsessed.  twigs has given an interview to the New York Times and talked about Rob.  Geesh - in the past that used to get Kristen in trouble.  He keeps his mouth shut.

It's sad to read that the NY Times are blaming Rob fans for the racial insults being sent to Twigs. Hopefully they'll edit the article and correct their error.
