Did someone post an article about the Grey book? It had the fan fiction info in it too... I think it was on here.. :/
Apparently it's not outtakes from MOTU, but must a retelling of book 1.

ffg is right - I've done more than one post on Fifty Shades.  The one you are thinking about is at least 3 or 4 pages back before the spoiler post - it had the fan fic stuff you remember.   I posted both of them both here and on In Death.net.   I've got another one I'm thinking about posting that just appeared on my home page news.

Its actually more than 4 pages back.  Try page 153.

Yup! I'm on tapatalk so it would take too long to find, no worries ;-) It was for a friend. I'm reading reviews, not looking so good. I'm probably gonna pass on buying it.

see addition to my psst - its on page 153.

After reading your post - can I just say you definitely are not one of the delusional people listed in the following article.  You helped me decide to post it.  If this were Master of the Universe, I might and I use the word might very strongly might get excited over the Christian pov if it was actually Edward.   I might even understand the excitement a little better.  However......

EL James spends 'Grey' day with New York City fans

By LEANNE ITALIE  -  The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — For "Fifty Shades of Grey" fans, Thursday belonged to Christian.

A fresh book in the erotic franchise was released on hunky Christian Grey's 28th birthday to the delight of teens to mid-life mommies eager to read the story as told from his perspective.

Kimberly Caravallo, 20, a college student from the Bronx, wasn't about to miss it. She and her sister waited nearly 15 hours to be first in line at a Barnes & Noble store along Fifth Avenue to get their copies of "Grey" signed by EL James herself.

They passed Wednesday night sitting on the sidewalk and napping. "We came a little bit unprepared with just a little sweater," she said.

Why? Because Christian is "extremely dreamy."

Roughly 300 other people joined them as James passed release day in New York rather than back home in London. She also attended a fan event in suburban Long Island and answered a few questions, including a request for her take on why the damaged billionaire who likes his sex rough is so popular.

"Because he doesn't exist, really," James offered wryly.

That doesn't matter much to Amber Garrow, a 38-year-old teacher's aide and mother of four from Connecticut. She hopped on a train at 4:30 a.m. and headed to Manhattan for her fourth time meeting James.

So what's the big deal about the retelling of the first Fifty book from Grey's eyes? It's the period where he first meets the young and innocent Anastasia Steele and tries to convince her to embrace his BDSM lifestyle as his submissive. Ana narrates the trilogy that has sold more than 125 million copies worldwide.

"We've been curious about his thoughts and how he feels about certain situations," Garrow said. "It's truly about two people saving each other."

And did her kids know what she was up to? "My oldest one just rolls his eyes and walks away," she said.

Much of the excitement was a short turnaround between James' announcement of a fourth book earlier this month and its release. Her publisher, Penguin Random House, said 1.6 million copies have been printed. Downloads hit the tops of lists at Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.

Not that any of these fans had much time to dig into James' fresh pages before stepping up to have their copies signed.

Christopher Basso, 24, from Linden, New Jersey, planned to save "Grey" for later, when he was all alone.

"Christian, I think, has always been kind of the impetus that kept people reading," Basso said. "He didn't like revealing things to Ana. Now we get to find out."

What's Grey's allure?

"Christian is a boy, you know. He's like a child in an adult's body that needs to be nurtured, and that's what Ana does to him. She brings him into, kind of, adulthood," Basso said.

Through three books and one blockbuster of a movie starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, Christian's outer shell was intact.

"Nobody gets to break that. Except Ana, but now everybody will get a chance to see just what makes him Christian," Basso said.

Are the books mere smut or an epic love story?

"I think they go hand in hand," said Artavia Jarvis, 25, a Manhattan writer of young adult and dystopian lit.

"I think he's probably just as controlling as we thought," she said, "but it'll be fun to hear it from his point of view and not hers."

James, meanwhile, giggled and joked her way through her Long Island fan meet-up, where she was also asked if the books have improved her sex life.

"Oh. Um," she demurred. "I think we should move on."

Is anyone here planning to actually read Grey? I find it funny that day one, stores already have half off stickers on all the copies!

Uhmmm, that would be me.  ^-^ Have not been scared to tell you guys in the past  that i really liked Christian and Ana. Read the trilogy twice back to back, watched the movie and re-read book 1. Not the best writing but i love their story. So it shouldn't come as a surprise am actually reading Grey now.  :P  :D

Have just finished the first chapter and if i recall correctly, this was included in one of the books, an outtake of his thoughts when they met. Good thing i gloss over physical descriptions and just imagine what i want. Ana's blue eyes were mentioned and for the life of me, i never thought it was not brown. Well, off to read some more and am glad to have watched the movie so i have better "visuals"  :)

Good, this is what I want to see, opinions of people who actually liked the first three, not opinions of people who like nothing better than to slam and make fun of them. I admit to liking the first three. I don't think they were written the best, but they did suck me in and keep me reading til the very end.

Shoot! I lurk over on FB when I have time. But I always miss the drama.

Guess I will have to stick with Real Housewives for my dose of other people's drama.  LOL!   I lead a very boring life.   :D :D :D

Part of me wants to read it. But it will be like reading EdwardsEternal's stories where she changes the eye colors and stuff.  I read MoTU first, not FSoG, so I want Edward and Bella.

But I can totally see if you read FSoG and got into fanfiction that way, that you would want it to be Christian and Ana.

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
So I got a friend request on Facebook from Diane Munier aka counselor. Um, how do I tell her I don't actually like her stories.  So I don't think I will be buying any.   :-\

I guess I probably shouldn't have reviewed that one I read.  It was not a badly written story, I just find her writing style depressing.

I do seem to get a lot of authors i dont read who want to friend me - I'm thinking it's so they can dump their books and stories in my time line.  I do think it's funny that the authors I do like don't do that.   :P

Oh, and this is why you have to either have the same name here & on FB or PM me who you are, or I will probably ignore your friend request.   :o ;D ^-^

I agree with you on some of Counselor's stories. I've tried a bunch of her's but I flounce them. She sent me a FR too. Also my Facebook is from an iPhone game that no longer exists. Lol(I'm a nerd) (  ͡°  ͜ʖ  ͡°)
I've never read any of the fifty shades books. I got the first one a few months ago for $.99 and I never read it. I don't plan to. I did read MOTU, I liked it a lot except it had a little too much sex and not enough plot. I did see the movie and bought the did but it's still not open and sitting with the rest of my DVDs. Honestly I watched for Jamie Dornan, I loved him even more in The Fall than as Grey.
