  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
Thread #7 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Yes, Scotland's countryside is just gorgeous. ...But Culloden is really poignant and with all the silent white snow? Eerie....

Tailward....you will love it.  :)

Got hubs to the airport today, and he really didn't want to go.  If he said it once, he said it a thousand times this weekend. He will be gone a couple of weeks this time, but he is going back to Brazil, where he got the news of our son's bad accident 7 months ago. He has been travelling for years now,  every week, somewhere new, but I swear it seems harder for him to leave every time. He wants to drag me with him, but I too have to work.                       It is hard when grabs both sides of my face and as he leans in for a kiss, he asks for me to beg him to stay. It made my heart hurt. *sniffles*  :'(

I read a few of the May to December Romance Contest and then watched the entire 8 episodes of Outlander.......again. Maybe it is my gloom mood. Sigh .....

Back to the long days and nights again this week. I hope everyone has a great week.
That has got to be the romantic and heartbreaking thing I've heard. Sending hugs your way hun.  :-* :-*

I've been gearing myself up for tailward for a while now... maybe it's time!
I've been meaning to read this for ages, I think I might start it tomorrow while I'm in hospital.
I keep imagining Bella and Edward going at it a bit like Ingrid and The Mandragora did in the Witches of East End (and yes, I'm still pissed that Lifetime cancelled it after leaving us with a cliffy at the end of season 2  >:( :D).

I didn't take very many....I have to always make the crucial decision between music and photos as far a space is concerned on my phone...Music always wins! but Mr PA did, I'll get some from him, he's flying to Durban tonight until the 13th but will get him to email them.  I went to Culloden on Sunday (alone, left Mr PA on the slopes ) became fast bosom pals with the director of visitor's centre (flashed my NUJ pass  :D), they have just reopened having done some renovations, but it was so cold I couldn't tramp around looking for the Clan Fraser stone, which I really wanted to see, but I did have a bit of a cry... :'(   You'll get why once you get to the end of DIA! I'm going back as soon as I can, (on my own)  I'm in love with the Highlands and the people, so many red-heads, I was like a pig in sh!t. :P

A lovelorn girl. A lonesome cowboy. An anonymous donation and a pink jade butterfly. Sometimes love doesn't just fall into your lap. Sometimes you need a healthy dose of luck to find it.
Beautiful, beautiful story. Unexpected and amazingly written.

The other one I liked is also Oblivious. Great story.

I hope that maybe authors will decide to continue them once the contest is finished as they definitely have potential.

I read both of those and liked them.  I did however flounce the two below because the subject/situation had a serious ick factor for me - doctor/barely legal patient. Maybe it is because I have 2 daughters in college.

Has the comp ended and its now open to judging or are there more entrants to come?  And which pretty lady is going to take up where Astro left off and compile these wonderful stories for us into one doc? I've been trying to figure it out to no avail.... :(

I think it's finished as I've not received any emails in the last few days about new stories.  :)

I was thinking the same thing as it'd be so much easier to read them together, I've been trying to read them separately but given up.  :D

EDIT: I might of figured out how to make the comp entries into one epub.
I probably won't be able to sort it out properly until I get home from hospital tomorrow, but I'll give it a go and let y'all know if I can actually do it or not.

Yeah! I figured it out it's a plugin called Epubmerge, you just install it, stick all the URLs in the downloader and it merges them into one 'anthology'

You can also use the "make anthology" option from fanfiction downloader, I'm headed to bed, but I can do it in the morning if any needs it.

That has got to be the romantic and heartbreaking thing I've heard. Sending hugs your way hun.  :-* :-*

I swear, after 25.5 years of marriage, he has definitely gotten more romantic. I always thought it would have been the other way around. That you would become comfortable with each other, and maybe complacent, etc. Nope, not him.

I realize that since I only see him on most Sat/Sun, we are more appreciative of the time we have. (that is why I disappear on the weekends from here most of the time) and no reading gets done until Sunday night.

I have a lot of "awllll, that's sweet" moments. But yesterday, was hard and I had one hell of a time swallowing the lump in my throat. To have an adult man you love plead and beg for you to tell him to stay.....yea....it won't easy not to give him what he wanted.

He loves his job, just hates it takes him away from me. Our kids are grown and gone, so it is just me at home during the week. I never complain, and honestly there is no need. With the hours that I work, we wouldn't see each other long at night anyway. I do ok most of the time in his absence. I am either at work, or blogging and reading at night. I am always positive when he calls (everyday) and never bore him with everything problems that I have already solved. I don't know how to make it easier for him so he can continue doing what he loves. Any suggestions?

You ladies are not helping me save money  :D.....I would love to go, would hate the plane ride, but still. Hubs has asked me where I wanted to go this year, it might just be this !!! Just a few questions:

So do I fly to London/Amsterdam , take trains, etc or Fly to Edinburgh and rent a car and head out on our own and just do Scotland (I guess tech it is upper UK now).

We loved going all over the countryside when we lived in Germany and visiting the castles.

Do I go in Summer (Jul or Aug) or Fall (October)?

What are some of the MUST DO's if we go to the UK. I will only have a week, so no 10 page list. LOL
I will be nice and not do genealogy. I am stuck back in the 1650's on my father's and mother's side is about the same time frame. Father's side is from Wales and Mother's is from UK.

And if we come, Loopy and Demaris.....I soooooo would be smiling at your other halves. Well, I take that back.....Loopy's hubs I will be smiling at his face. Demaris' might be at smiling at his muffin.  :D >:D :-*

Huffs.....mind over matter huh.

Weird and I guess stereotypical....... I thought most redheads were Irish, not Scottish. Until I saw Jamie as a redhead, I just didn't realize. In fact, I have to listen closely to tell the dialect apart sometimes. Interesting and learned something new. I will look out of place with my dark blonde hair and green eyes huh. It's for nothing serious, I'm just going to have an op on my sinus so I can finally breathe properly as for the last 20 years since I first broke my nose I've had sinus problems and then breaking it another 7 times hasn't really helped.

I was suppose to go in and have this op last year but broke my nose again, thanks to the hubby, so they wouldn't do it.  :( ::)

Hmmm..? Only a week! You'll need a week in Scotland!..... And it will always be part of the UK, we are never letting them go!  >:(  :D

I'd fly to Edinburgh and rent a car and then take the Perth Road (M90) or the M9 (takes a bit longer but more picturesque to Inverness and spend 3 day in the Highlands (do Fort William, Culloden, Loch Ness etc...and all the Spot-a Jamie- hunts  :D) Then come back down via the A82 to Glasgow ( it means you see another part of Scotland) and take the train down to London stopping maybe in Bath for a day, maybe? You can then spend the rest of the time in London and fly out of Heathrow. I'm not sure where you are in the US but you should be able to fly direct into Scotland with most UK airlines BA, Virgin etc and fly out from a London airport. I'd try to come in the summer it'll likely rain in the Highland regardless of the time of year (though God it was beautiful in the snow) but you may get some sun in England in August, just don't quote me!
