I absolutely hated Mockingjay with every fiber of my being.  I kept wanting to throw the book across the room but didn't because I was afraid I'd break something.  If you are only halfway through it however I'll refrain from saying anything else to spoil it for you.

I've heard that from quite a few people... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... I am waiting for it to piss me off  8)

  • Hi! I'm Ellachanted and I'm a fanfic-oholic.
So I'm reading this arranged marriage story called Over the Counter. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Edward is a Doctor trained in England. Bella is a pharmacist. The writer is from Bangladesh according to her ffnet bio. All I know is she doesn't know much about the US school system or hospital system. But she warns us at the beginning and requests a lot of leeway. Her English is okay. Misuse of words. But forgivable.

The story has grabbed me. I don't know that I would rec it unless you like arranged marriage stories. I'm 18 chapters in and I want to bash their heads together because they don't seem to talk. Just misinterpret stuff. But Edward goes from sweet to jerk to sweet again pretty quickly.  And? There's like 54 chapters so it will be a while. 200K words.  Oh and they work at Seattle Grace. So I'm waiting for the Grey's Anatomy characters to show up. LOL!

Oh trust me - its coming.   When you've finished it, let me know and I'll tell you when it started for me.   After that it was all downhill - except in the last two pages when one person who's dead by then ends up with a hea - sort of.

Still making my way through silly romantic novels. I actually came across a series that I really liked, after reading dud after dud. The Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott is really cute! Rock star romance books, without a ton of drama.

These two were so bad omg.. I'm just now realizing the author of Tall, Tatted and Tempting co-signed At Any Price. That should have been a giant warning to avoid it.

Tall, Tatted and Tempting would have been cute if it didn't heavily feature a mary sue character. She was SO good at everything she did, a runaway guitar goddess. The plot twist was painfully predictable and the dude in this was deaf, but even though he hadn't spoken in over eight years his speaking voice was perfectly audible????? I won't stress the other unbelievable issue, but the girl in this novel was apparently able to learn sign language even though she head issues reading. So how you would know what words you're learning to sign is beyond me.

At Any Price had SUCH promise. Again, very predictable, but I continued reading because I liked the narrator. a popular gaming blogger auctioned off her virginity for a quarter million dollars. She was very witty so I didn't have really have any issues with the plot until she refused to be seen as a prostitute. She was so progressive up until the dude said she was essentially a prostitute. You're getting paid for a service. Move along. Plus it took them forever to finally get it on O M G. Dragged the hell out.

I gave up reading about that far in. It just seemed to drag on and most of it could be solved with a little communication.

Yes, I can see that ;)

But most stories are full of miscommunication.  It seems to be a standard plot device.  :P

I stopped at chapter 26. I can understand miscommunication for a bit but at some point they have to talk and I don't want to read a story of 50 chapters of miscommunication/ no communication.

Really?  They aren't talking by chapter 26?    Hmmm. I may need to rethink this. ;)

What's everybody reading?   I'm reading the Silver Linings Playbook.   Still haven't seen the movie and I'm really glad I waited to read the book.  It's really good so far!   I'm moving back to fanfiction after this one. :)

I've had to take a detour from the Outlander series to read the Lord John series of books (a secondary character in Outlander)  in order to move on from Breath (Book 6) as Echo (book7) makes reference to shit that comes from the LJ series I know nothing about! ...I am not a happy camper at the moment... >:( >:(

Is this Mockingjay from the Hunger Games series?...Its been a while since I read it but I don't remember it pissing me off.....*sigh* Wouldn't it be nice to have time to go back a re-read books having exhausted all your current stuff on TBR? At the rate my TBR is growing I'll be dead first  :P

So, I got a alert from mamasutra saying that she's been warned that her stories are going to be pulled so she's moving. Poor woman, it's not like she only written a handful, she's got 35 stories on her profile and she's been on there with said stories for years.  :(  FFN are sh!tbags. Now I'm gonna have to remember my TWCS password..... :poo:

According to Iris, more than a few have been warned, so we'll see what happens going forward.

Do we know the names of anyone else?  I am behind in backing up since I've been getting my daughters together for college...I thought I would have time after the younger one moves in on Saturday, but who knows now.

I don't think so, though I'm not really connected in the fandom.  Nevertheless, I've been doing mass calibre pulls the last few days.

I jsut finished reading "Tides of Fate by SparklingTwilight.  I actually enjoyed the book, had some really good laughs ( ok i actually cracked up)   and my husband looked at me as I was possitively Crazy.

I am trying to find a good Militaryward , Heroward or Uniformward to read and not having any luck.

I read it first as a WIP and a couple of my suggestions for the family reunion made it in. A fun read with not a lot of angst.
