Thread #6 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

So I'm reading this arranged marriage story called Over the Counter. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Edward is a Doctor trained in England. Bella is a pharmacist. The writer is from Bangladesh according to her ffnet bio. All I know is she doesn't know much about the US school system or hospital system. But she warns us at the beginning and requests a lot of leeway. Her English is okay. Misuse of words. But forgivable.

The story has grabbed me. I don't know that I would rec it unless you like arranged marriage stories. I'm 18 chapters in and I want to bash their heads together because they don't seem to talk. Just misinterpret stuff. But Edward goes from sweet to jerk to sweet again pretty quickly.  And? There's like 54 chapters so it will be a while. 200K words.  Oh and they work at Seattle Grace. So I'm waiting for the Grey's Anatomy characters to show up. LOL!
Well, that's a bummer as I quite wanted to read this as I was in the mood for an arranged marriage fic and I seemed to have read most of the decent ones.  :(

They work fine on FireFox but not on chrome so I'm having to use FF today and I've decided I totally prefer Chrome. :( :D

I am not a fan of FF either.

Hopefully Mr A will sort it out soon so I can get back to using Chrome as I really don't like FF and I think it's slightly slower than Chrome.  :(
Because it's all about what I want.  :P :P :D :D

What that's crazy!!
As they always make a point of posting the edited versions of their fics on FF.net and post their unedited versions on TWCS.  ::) ::)
It's madness.

What's everybody reading?   I'm reading the Silver Linings Playbook.   Still haven't seen the movie and I'm really glad I waited to read the book.  It's really good so far!   I'm moving back to fanfiction after this one. :)

During my trip, i finished the following:
Abbi Glines seabreeze series
- Just For Now #4
- Sometimes it Lasts #5
- Misbehaving #6

Jordan Silver
The Billionaire and the Popstar

Loved them all and rec them.

Started The Wingman by Bella Jewel on the drive home (hubs drove both ways to/from work as am still pooped from my trip and i arrived past midnight last night) and am almost done now. Funny yet heart twinging for me. Want to slap some sense into Reign and further want to shake Tia for puttng up with his shit. Really enjoying it despite their situation. Any book that brings these emotions from me is worth the read.  :)

I absolutely hated Mockingjay with every fiber of my being.  I kept wanting to throw the book across the room but didn't because I was afraid I'd break something.  If you are only halfway through it however I'll refrain from saying anything else to spoil it for you.

I didn't "hate" Mockingjay but i was disappointed with it. Clearly not the best of the trilogy.

I jsut finished reading "Tides of Fate by SparklingTwilight.  I actually enjoyed the book, had some really good laughs ( ok i actually cracked up)   and my husband looked at me as I was possitively Crazy.

I am trying to find a good Militaryward , Heroward or Uniformward to read and not having any luck.

I read this one a ehile back, it's short but very good. Wish it could have been longer:

Major Hottie and the Speech Girl   by Bornonhalloween

Sorry for the multiple posts, for some reason i can't "insert quote"...

While i'm at it, haven't been to Ffnet since i boycotted last year. I rely on Ella's google drive and FFG's index to get the fics rec'd here. Thanks again, you 2 are the best! *insert flying kiss here*

And now my emoticons are not working too :(

Does anyone know if  Skygods (Hydraulic, #2)  is written from new material or did she ( Gondolier) split Hydraulic level 5 into two parts?

Granted I haven't been reading a whole lot of fanficton these days but I was just on Twilighted and found a new posting under Crossovers category - New Moon oriented called Encounter by O2Shea.  Nice little gem that I actually enjoyed on a quiet Thursday afternoon while defrosting my freezer.

Been in FF land for so long now.. Took a break to read "Mockingjay"  8)  I'm about halfway through.. Then I need to finish "The Sleeping Beauty Triology" by Anne Rice.. I needed to take a break from that because its intense! MOTU on crack! *ahahahaa...  :o :o :o
I don't remember disliking Mockingjay either if we're talking about the HG series.   The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy intrigues me but I've never read it because I heard it's extremely dark and has rape etc.

Still making my way through silly romantic novels. I actually came across a series that I really liked, after reading dud after dud. The Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott is really cute! Rock star romance books, without a ton of drama.

I've heard good things about the Stage Diver series.  Are they standalones?

I've had to take a detour from the Outlander series to read the Lord John series of books (a secondary character in Outlander)  in order to move on from Breath (Book 6) as Echo (book7) makes reference to shit that comes from the LJ series I know nothing about! ...I am not a happy camper at the moment... >:( >:(

Ok, so tell me about book 5...  you didn't get bored?  I seem to remember giving up somewhere around

Age of Consent is one of my all time favourites. It so well written and it's realistic in how their relationship develops.
It also mentions and quotes one of my fave poets - Pablo Neruda so that's always a plus.  :D

Yay, Chrome's back to working probably with the smilies etc.     :cheer: :cheer:

I think I quite enjoyed it if it is....

Book 5; I didn't get bored but it it wasn't my favourite so far, Dragonfly as been my favourite after Outlander, of course.  ^-^ It moves the story along but to be honest I'm not a fan of Bree (their daughter) she's a brat in my opinion and the only time I want to slap Claire is in her handling (or non-handling) of Bree's tantrums. I'm having to grit my teeth and hankering down to read the Lord John books as there is a general consensus that insists I have to read them to appreciate the rest of the series so.....@%*&@!  >:(

Somehow I've gotten on a supernatural young adult book kick - I'm reading the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, the first one didn't read the best, but I wanted to find out the secrets so I kept reading.  According to wikipedia, this is yet another young adult book that is being turned into a movie

How long is the series? I read the first 2 books, I think, and then didn't bother with the rest once they came out. The first was OK the second so, so....maybe I read the third? Hmmm? Read them as books too so God knows where they are now....

For supernatural YA, have you read Angelfall by Susan Ee? I really enjoyed this one, it was different from all the other YA PNR I'd been reading. My daughter really likes the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. Oh and Maggie Stiefvater has a couple of really good series, particularly Shiver and the faerie series are the two I've read.

I didn't particularly love Fallen, so I only read the first one. Another popular series is the Hush Hush series, but I hated the heroine in that one, she was TSTL to me, so I never read past the first book.
