Those words alone made me know not to click! You are all so evil!
Step away from the bodice ripper.....slowly, slowly...Now. Run!
Finished Diva Diaries!!! Its been on my TBR list for what seems like a very long time.. Finally got around to it. I really liked it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the A/N she mentions the Twilight fan who died at Comic Con in San Diego, I was there that year! And yes, I was one of the crazy fans camping over night She was actually a friend of someone I knew, who was also camping. It was sad
Ok, well now that you say that I'm dying to read it so I can see what all the fuss is about! Have you read that specific one? I don't think I've ever read a bodice ripper... maybe it will be my new thing? Oh wait, I do think I read one called Lord of Scoundrels... maybe that was a BR!
I tried Loopy, I really tried.....Someone has to read Summer Vacation for us at some point I think I deserve an Elevator Rob for my attempts, don't I?
No I haven't but I'll refer you back to my Bodice Ripper definition posted a little while ago....I can't in all conscience allow you to read this! No! Kim! 600 chapters! There is no way I'd put myself through that without a cast iron guarantee that this author can write. Ella you should read it you can flounce. Its FFG, Loopy, me and the rest of us that can't that should stay the hell away I have to admit that Elevator Rob's kissing was on fire...But are you all going to have the same sig? Because, you know, feel free to take mine...the sparkly yellow one, not the one of my husband.

Okay, so I gave up on bodice rippers years ago. But this one did look interesting because the heroine was deaf. Until I went on to Amazon. All these great reviews. So I looked at the one-star reviews. The basics were that there was a premise for a really good angsty story but the writer totally let it go. The heroine was deaf, but then it turns out within a few pages she reads lips and can talk without a problem. This went on and on. All these things that could be good angst fixed in a page or two. Easy. the other complaints were that though it was set in the historical highlands, they speak like it is somewhere in the US current time. So, yeah, Kim. Go ahead and read it...... LOL! (trying reverse psychology here)There are much better bodice rippers out there...
I remember the BR discussion a while back. You have very strong feelings on bodice rippers, huh? Now I'm scared to read it for fear it will be like quicksand and I'll never make my way back out of the genre!LOL The reverse psychology has a better chance of working than Demaris forbidding it... ;-) Some of the girls here at PTS in one of the book reviews thread really really liked this one! OK, Ella... if not this one, what is your favorite bodice ripper? Not that I'd ever consider reading one!
I'm not sure if Kathleen Woodiweiss's books qualify, but I loved her Shanna and The Flame and the Flower. Actually most all of her books are great. Well researched and well written. Shanna just is what I would call a bodice ripper. Some of her others are more historical romances. It's been so long though. The last really good one I read was A Pirate's Love by Johanna Lindsey. If you want a standard old fashioned bodice ripper, you can't miss with Johanna Lindsey. Only problem is, they are all pretty similar. So you only read one. Actually, most bodice rippers are the same... usually a pirate is involved. And? You may like the Maya Banks ones. I just heard her Highland series was better than the one you were looking at.
Now you tell me there is a difference between a bodice ripper and a historical romance? Ooh I'm off to investigate here in a minute!I've seen Shanna mentioned a few times when I was looking at random favorite lists... oh and Maya Banks McCabe series has been on my wishlist for a while. So, you think its better than the other one I mentioned? I think I added these to my TBR after I liked Outlander so much.
Or he picked her because of her Name, i mean wacky baccy can make people LOOPY. Or he just wants to hear more of her Sex-ploits

Okay, so all bodice rippers are historical, but not all historical romances are bodice rippers. For example, Outlander wouldn't be a bodice ripper, but it would be historical. Mostly bodice rippers have little real story, bad things happen to the heroine, The Hero is a bad guy or a rake. They usually are forced into marriage. Or he forces her to have sex and she gets pregnant.
Gentle rouge. huh ?well, isn't the ship captain some what close to 40 unless this book takes back in time from first one which was dreadful
Nin! Remember, they were "advanced" for their age during that time. Girls shld be married by 16, and if you're not married by 20 you're a spinster . And being rich can make you captain of your own ship even if you are just in your early 20s. If i recall correctly, James Mallory was in his early 30s but had a 17yr old bastard son. Georgina Anderson was 22. At most, they may have had a10-12 yr age gap.Ahhh, whenever i think of this book, i have such a happy feeling. i just may re-read this book again next.
LOL! Booked, I think everything by Joanna Lindsey was a bodice ripper. The term has been around for a while. I remember hearing it when I was younger. And? I used to either get them from the library or buy them at the thrift store. They were more expensive than the harleqins so I didn't buy as many. And I would reread them a lot. Actually, other than Shanna, which fell apart, I may still have many of the older ones. I lost some when our pipe broke and flooded the house. But the rest that I bought should be around. Ii tend to keep books.
If they are forced to marry, then had sex, is that considered a bodice ripper? You know the usual, fighting the attraction bec they are from a rival clan, etc but gave in to save the family/peace for their town bec they secretly want each other...bodice ripper? If yes, then yup, most of Lindsey's books are bodice rippers I hoard books too. I still have all my historical books. Since money was tight, i only bought 2nd hand and only by authors i love: Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood, Julia Quinn, Stephanie Laurens, Johanna Lindsey, Kathleen Woodiwiss and Catherine Coulter. I still bought the paperback of these authors up to 2 yrs ago. But with me running out of places to store them, i now just get the ebook version. 80% of my M&B have been given away, only kept those i loved.
NOW she gets a filter.
It may give me flashing lights epilepsy it so neon! And flashing and bright!!
I have read Seventeen Minutes and loved it! I definitely recommend it. It is very angsty.
I have to admit that Elevator Rob's kissing was on fire...But are you all going to have the same sig? Because, you know, feel free to take mine...the sparkly yellow one, not the one of my husband.
I, for one, am always happy to hear of her sex-ploits! Jnr's pic will make my year
