I finished Monster In His Eyes and really really liked it! Hmm... can you count all that mob action as angst? Either way, I thought it was good and definitely a page turner. Be sure and have book 2 ready! Yep, I changed my name again... I'm trying to come up with something clever! I like kimchi, but I have no idea what that stuff is.
My best for a speedy recovery!
My MIL had breast cancer about 5 years ago, even though it was in 1 breast she had a double mastectomy (after talking about it with me and my SIL). She had reconstruction with implants. What they did is formed the flap and inserted I guess what you would describe as deflated "surgical balloons". They let it heal for a few weeks and then started inflating the "balloons" with saline a little every week to stretch the muscle. Once they had them to the correct size they did the implants. The only thing she doesn't like is they couldn't make them the same size she was before. *fingers crossed* that the surgery happens this time and you'll be in my prayers.
Kimchi is made from cabbage that is fermented in the ground with seasonings.Good luck with the surgery Ella. It's been kinda busy for me recently with moving and work.
Wouldn't it be better to have your tubes tied? Unless you have problem periods or a family history of uterine cancer, I don't think I would do that. Though I guess if your surgeon is really good... things get shortened. It may not be as comfortable as it was LOL! Though I guess the horror stories I've heard may not relate as those women did have cancer.
Thank you! Thanks! Yes, that is the back up method. I really don't want to do it. The hospital I have to use is about 2 hours from my home, so it is an all day thing to go there. Plus, my sister did that and one burst. She hasn't gotten it fixed yet because she found another doctor who would the DIEP flap. She only found out after she had the surgery that her doctor always recommends the implants because it is the only method she knows how to do. And? If you are very thin, that is about all they can do. Thanks!
I had such bad periods when I was younger. I would have taken the hysterectomy probably. Though I'm not sure it would have helped if they kept the ovaries. When they removed them. she found a bunch of scar tissue from endometriosis. I wondered if it would still do it's thing monthly if the uterus was gone. LOL! I'll keep my doctors. They are two really nice women. Though I guess there will be a third one to help out. It' is a really long surgery. About 16 hours. I'll be the one sleeping through it. Really looking forward to that part. I haven't had a good night's sleep in forever!!!
You've been hijacked by the Fassy! Yeah, he's just so big, he takes over everywhere....
I have always thought that having a non medical hysterectomy was a little extreme, my friend was in her early 20s when she first thought of the idea and her doctor said they don't do them before 35, maybe her doctor now will be less likely to do it, especially since it might be considered cosmetic surgery and not covered by insurance.
They didn't give her the option to do the procedure your doing. I know if they did she would have done that instead.
I'm BRCA2. Which means I have the gene for ovarian and breast cancer. Similar to Angelina Jolie. I had my ovaries removed. They were fine. Though frankly, since I was over 40, I wouldn't guarantee they worked. I'm scheduled for a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction in November. However, I've been scheduled before and if someone with cancer needs the date? It will be canceled. I'm not worried. I have regular mammograms and my mother had ovarian cancer. So, yes they remove good but not "necessary" parts if there is a history of cancer.
Where's my Angst H00rs at?? Kim, Mrs F?? You two might wanna read this. I'm halfway through You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, the angst and self loathing in this is so good and it's not eased up much from the start and I get the feeling that it's not gonna either. I also gotta admit that I cried at Part One (it's split into three parts) and I've not cried at book in ages, so that's always a good sign. I'm thinking it's a 3.5 - 4* read so far.
Me me me!!!! Oooo... Sounds like a good one!Added to my list!
I'll add you to our Angst group hun, cos we know how to have fun. Definitely give it a try hun and let us know what you think.
Not sure if any of you are fans of "Gone with the Wind"... I'm a *HUGE* fan! Last week was the 75th anniversary and the movie studio released it in theaters for two days! I've read the book too many times to count.Ugh!!! I was dying!!! The theater was packed full! Still feeling giddy from it Its still such an amazing movie Thinking ill need to squeeze the book in for another read
Ooo yay! I call them "white knuckle reads" *hahahaha... Where I'm gripping my kindle so tightly my knuckles turn white!!! >>>
My Mum FLOVES GwtW - I remember watching it years ago and I was like "Oh, that was okay but where's the famous Rhett parting line!" and then my Mum was like "That's only Part One!" I think that I might of liked the film better if I'd read the book but I've never got around to it.But I can kinda see why peeps love it so much, as it really is a masterpiece of filming from that time.Lol, I can totally understand that. There has been many of a time that I've wanted to throw my iPad out of the window while reading something particularly angsty but that would be like throwing away one of my kids and that never happens these days as I don't really have any triggers (nor does our Mrs F).
Wow Hon... Wishing you a successful surgery, speedy recovery, hot male nurses, and some good painkillers!
I've been told the DIEP flap doesn't always work with radiation therapy. And if she weighs too much or not enough, they won't do it either. I think you can get bigger sizes with implants too.
