Thread #6 - We are crazy talkers here! Join in the fun!

ADULT DISCUSSION HERE, SO TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN! UM NO, WAIT! IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, LOOK AWAY NOW!

This is the new thread as the other was sooo long and had lots of pages. Continuation of our wonderful discussions on Twilight Fanfiction, Books, and Life in general.  But mostly Twilight fanfics... and life stuff that will get me a NOT ALLOWED statement.

Okay, here is a place to discuss what you are reading, ask for recommendations and complain about the writing.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so please play nice

Because we know drypen's watching

Thanks Ella. Luckily I have zero triggers when it comes to fiction [emoji37]. I'll wait and read it at the end....I have to admit I'm surprised you've read Wisp as it's not at all fluffy so far?

BTW Have I told you how awed I am with you taking the bar exam? Is this going to be a whole new career change for you or are you getting qualified for work you're already doing i.e a paralegal?

And finally I know I have asked this before ( alzheimer's) but what are we using/can we download from Blogspot?......
LOL! I actually don't mind well-written angst. I just don't like "angsty" stories when it's just one stupid thing after another. I realize Bella was a trouble magnet in the books, but there Edward rescued her before anything bad happened. I always figure when I wish the character would kill herself and put me out of my misery?  Yeah, not interested. So I am picky in my angst.

I always wanted to go to law school but was never near one. Then I found an online one. California is one of the few states that allow it. And you have to take the baby bar after your first year. Similar to the bar but only 3 subjects. What's bad is I got moved up in pay scale at work and there is no way I could make this much as a starting lawyer. Or even a semi-experienced lawyer.  So I may see if I can work part time some where or volunteer to get the experience.  I actually work with the law in my job so it doesn't hurt to be a lawyer.  ;) :P

I also didn't realize how much writing is involved in law work. I really don't like writing that much.  :o :D  :D

There's something wrong with the site? some pictures are so big and some replaced a few emoticons. Is it just me?

Have to agree with demaris, you are so awesome Ella! After having major surgery, you are taking the bar exam?!  :o Wow! Holy Wonder Woman!

Good luck with your exam and hope you are healing well!  :-* :-*
Thank you!   :-*

I'm definitely feeling my age. I didn't used to have so much problems remembering stuff.  And there is a lot to remember.  >:( :D :P

Too true hun and then we'd be stuck with actually having to socialise or something as horrific to full our time.  [emoji13] [emoji13]
Noooo! I've been an anti social reader since I was a kid.  My mom said it was good she didn't have to punish me much because sending me to my room wasn't very much of a punishment. I would just go there and read.  :-\

Lol, she's the she-devil. [emoji35][emoji13]
Poor Wisp had to suffer her being with her Good Edward. [emoji17][emoji13]
But she's a better person after her stay in South America or wherever she went. I just couldn't figure out how someone who is supposed to be into healing is so unsupportive.

And, of course, Edward can't see through her crap. :Paul  :-X >:(

Same here. I've always been the one with my nose stuck in a book. When I was grounded, it was from the phone or going anywhere, but she never took my books!

God it really isn't just blind coincidence that we are all here then...I was exactly the same as a child/teenager. My mother used to have to take my book away for me to eat dinner, I'd have it by my plate and read while eating and at school? Well, lets just say the nuns didn't do their 'lights-out' checks very conscientiously  :P

I have finished Wisp, I finished at 06:48 GMT. I really enjoyed it so Kim, go ahead and bump that up if you haven't read it. Just reading a couple of outtakes and then.....What should I move on to?

Oh!BTW. I was very surprised by the general lack of lemons/lemonade in Wisp ( even after Ella's waring), really, really surprised! But I think she showed remarkable restraint considering the subject matter, it would have been so easy to go down the gratuitous lemon route to bump up reader numbers...But don't read the Wisp backstory we discussed above unless you were able to read A Perfect Wife and not flinch. :(

I was an avid reader up until the age of 12 (when I discovered boys were more exciting than reading :P). But when I was pregnant with my daughter I started reading again and haven't stopped since. My Mum wished she could of used reading as a punishment during my teen years but I would of probably enjoyed it.  :D

Just read Wisp's backstory - I so should of read it ages ago (probably between updates). It was so good and poor Wisp and what she went through.
I agree hun Wisp wouldn't of worked as well if it had lemons, so Cris did a great job of changing Edward's and Wisp's relationship dynamics while dealing with everything else.  :)

Now that you've mentioned TPW I think it might time for a re-read as I've not read it yet this year (is too early to use that excuse?)  :P :P

I've been seeing recs for Wisp everywhere and it certainly has my caught my interest, but from what I've seen it's kind of angsty and I'm an angst wimp.  :-\

Snow White and The Huntsman
« Reply #5611 on: January 04, 2015, 10:54 AM »
So I finally watched Snow White and The Huntsman (recorded it over Christmas) and it was actually a lot better than I thought.

Kristen was alright in it and she didn't bug me too much, but I think that was cos she didn't talk too much in it so she wasn't sighing every word.  ;D

But she seriously only has one facial expression and I'm kinda stuck on what it actually is, I'm thinking it's like she's constipated and over thinking something at the same time, I'm just hoping that she not over thinking on how to get rid of the constipation.  :D :D

I'm probably not a good example of an angst wimp.  I actually don't mind angst. I'm just over reading stories where all sorts of bad things happen to the herione just to add excitement to the story.  I do enjoy stories were the thing that caused the angst happened and they are trying to recover from it.  And reading about abuse makes me feel uncomfortable because I really want to go in and snap the abuser's neck.  I'll tell you, one of my big disappointments in As Children At Play was that

I love me a bit of Chris Hemsworth and Charlize is one of my girl crushes so I was a just happy watching those two and Charlize is great at playing evil roles.  :P :P

I think I'm gonna give ACAP a read as soon as I finish the books I'm reading atm as I've been meaning to read it for ages. I was gonna start it when she completed but got distracted and I'm not a major fan of vamp fics.  :o ;D

The story doesn't focus much on their vamp-ness. I would have liked a bit more vamp powers! Edward is his normal idiot self too.  Can't read her mind or anything. And Jacob is just a friend.  But overall, it was a good story.   ;D

Drotuno's stories are great! The Angel Series and Gravity Series are my two favorites. The Gravity Series was a tiny bit intense in some places(especially the first one), but it didn't last for long. Or maybe I just skimmed to get it over with quicker.  :o

Flove the Gravity Series, Mercward is definitely one of my fave Edwards.

I think most peeps probably watched the film for Charlize and Chris. Chris is definitely the hotter Hemsworth but that's not saying much as Liam is gorgeous as well. But that's not surprising as their parents are really ridiculously good looking (I sounded so like Zoolander there for a minute  :D)

Both of the Hemsworth brothers are good looking, but I like Chris a lot more. But that could be because I watch more of his movies than I do of Liam's.  :D
