Can someone explain me the whole 4/20 deal?

What have I missed?

I've never heard of this - this question seems completely out of the blue.

Lol. I didn't even think to google it. Thanx.

That's just stupid.

Quote
April 20 has evolved into a counterculture holiday in North America, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis

So, the fun part is that April 20 is also the birthday of Hitler.  :D Celebrating Cannabis is a way more peaceful day, I think. We always have "fun" that day, this year there were some burning cars...  >:(

Duh - I didn't even think of a date. We do our dates backwards here - 20 April or 20.04.

And it's now 21 April.

Perhaps I should go back to bed!  :-[

All right..  :)
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

It's a WIP so I have no idea what it's about but the "Bite Club" title might be a clue.

Thanks to all your good wishes my daughter made first place today in her age group!  :-*

She and her team are now Saxon National Champions for group performance in the children's age group up to 7 years. She got a gold medal and my youngest son said now she's wearing money!  :D

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Getting up and participating is the most important part, especially at that age.

I get anxious whenever we hold sporting competitions at school. We spend our time telling the kids that the most important thing is that they do their best, that they participate and have fun, and that being part of a team and cheering on their teammates means that when they do well, everyone is a winner.

Then we have some parents who think that their children are competing at the Olympics! And often, it's the parents who think that their kid is really talented, but is simply a big fish in a very small pond!

Kids' sport is becoming a real issue in our society - There was an incident a year or so ago in Australia where some parents physically assaulted a teenager who was reff'ing - voluntarily - a kids' soccer match! And then, there are also the parents who threaten to sue anyone if their child is injured in any slight way!

We had our cross country carnival - the older children ran a 6 km course. Of course, they were puffing and sweaty when they finished. One girl came fourth and threw a tantrum because she didn't place - but hid it behind a little performance pretending that she was overheated and ill. Then Mum and Grandma got involved, and the kid was going for an Oscar - and Mum and Grandma kept telling the teacher who was doing first aid that they had it under control and didn't need help...and then commented to another parent that the school didn't even care and didn't do anything.

They picked a bad day to criticise my teachers...and I had a microphone! I very quickly set them all straight - and even got a round of applause from the parents who could see the act the girl was putting on and the help we offered!

Sports are so important for children, but it's becoming so challenging to do - between competitive parents, kids who can't handle not winning and all the litigious nonsense that has resulted in Workplace Health & Safety overkill, we're all wondering of it's worth the effort!

Wow - soapbox moment!!! And I just meant to congratulate your little girl and say that she had the support of all of us on PTS!  :-[

I'm pretty sure it's only North American's who write their dates MM/DD/YY, everywhere else in the world it's DD/MM/YY. It's why when I was little I was always so confused as to why 9/11 was in September when 9/11 clearly meant (well to me anyway) the 9th of November...

It may also have a lot with the way one says dates. I'm always more inclined to put the date first even when I'm speaking. So I'll say "on the 25th of April it is ANZAC day" rather than "on April 25th it's ANZAC day" which just sounds a little weird to me but I think is quite normal in NA, but I could just we talking rubbish now. Haha.

What about not using the metric system and Fahrenheit?

Astro, my feet are all vicked up.

It just took forever to take it all from my hands tho.

Is it wrong to give my dog burnt popcorn?
 He is loving it

My dogs used to love anything that was people food. If I was eating asparagus, they loved asparagus. If I was drinking beer, they loved beer - and the little one had a drinking problem! One afternoon, someone knocked over their bottle and it spilled. Astro (yes - he was the "original" Astro) raced over and licked it up. He then staggered - literally staggered, like an old man walking home from a session at the pub - over to his little bed, and passed out for the rest of the afternoon, keeping us entertained with his snoring and sleep talking!

My nephew loves popcorn - he is a three year old popcorn junkie!

I hope the Vicks helps - although it is a bitch to get off your hands. Just don't touch your eyes - or any other sensitive parts !

And the fact they refuse to give them up? Haha. Their loss in my opinion. Even Canada use the metric system. It's so much more sensible. Also their baking recipes, all using their wacky cup measures! I mean, 236.58mls, what the hell am I supposed to do with that? Just use weight ppl; PLEASE for the love of baking use weight measures! Although in Aus our TBS is 5mls bigger than everywhere else's at least we use 250ml cups and put measures in grams and mls. I mean, who the hell measures butter by the tbs? Just say 15 grams people, so much easier and accurate to use a scale.

You should ALWAYS make sure you beta is at least more literate than you are!

I always thought I was a pretty good writer - not creative, but spot on with SPaG.

Occasionally, I go back and re-read something I've posted or put in an email and cringe at the errors I've made. Yesterday, I noticed I wrote know for both no and now in the same message!

My fingers just don't seem connected to my brain when I'm typing!

Lol. Definitely not touching my lady bits!

One of my dogs will eat anything, he puts in his mouth before he knows what it is. This is the lab.

The chow won't eat cold stuff. No salads, no fruit.
He LOVES chocolate. You can have a barbecue going on and he won't mind. But just the noise of the chocolate wrapper has him crazy. He is my dog after all.

Weird.  We both just ordered a Diva Cup AND i also am having a dishwasher and refrigerator delivered today.

Bloody shot glasses and large appliances. . . What else do we have in common?

I think it's great that we all feel so comfortable sharing - although I "shutter" to think about what else we might have in common, especially now that so many of us are on the same cycle together!

It's really sad to think that there are a lot of woman who don't ask questions and discuss the types of things that we discuss here. I certainly don't talk about these things openly with many of my friends because they would just die! Nothing is off limits within my family, and I have a few really close friends that I talk to about health and sex, but I have some friends - women in their 30s and 40s - who get embarrassed if you even mention bra shopping or going to the doctor!

This is why some women never experience an orgasm, or on a more serious note, why so many women are not diagnosed with cancer until it is too late!

Goodness - I really am having a soapbox morning!!!

My lab was just a hoover! I had a macadamia nut tree in the garden and she would crack the shells and suck out the nuts - I panicked the first time I heard her crack the shell, but she had such a beautiful, shiny coat from all of the nuts.

The little dog would always try to steal the lab's food, if her food was put out before his. And because of his small man's complex, once he took it, he wouldn't let it go! He would make himself sick but he would stick at it until it was all gone - and then not eat again for days!

This was Astro - pocket sized demon dog - bipolar and multiple personality disorder (he was my sister's before I got him - they matched perfectly!) - and he had an Ernie fetish! I can't tell you what that poor Ernie doll went through - this was in fact his third Ernie! *"shutter!"*

Little astro! Oonnnn.  So cute. You should get another dog.

I love macadamias, never saw a macadamia tree. I'll google it.

Edit: wow! It looks like a lemon

I can't bring myself to get another dog! Even though they started off as my sister's and brother's, I was the one that ended up with them and I was the one that had to take them to the vet to be put down when their times were up (the lab had a tumour that kept coming back and Astro was old and in pain). It was just too hard!

As much as I would love the company, it wouldn't be fair - a dog would be home alone all day and my back yard isn't really big enough and my front yard isn't fenced. If I was to ever get another dog, I would get a lab - I just love their loyalty and enthusiasm!

The macadamia tree was lovely, but messy. It was in the residence within the school grounds (yes - I actually lived in the school!) and for years, no previous principals had bothered with the garden. It attracted mice too - so I raked up all of the nuts and the kids potted up the ones that had started to shoot and we sold them. That solved the mice problem, and the dog only got the fresh nuts that dropped.

Can you imagine how spoilt those dogs were, living in the school? The kids were all under strict orders not to ever give them any of their lunches. The lab would take the kids for a run during our fitness time - they would each take turns holding her leash and being dragged around the running course and, if she managed to tunnel out of the fence, she would be in the classroom looking for someone to play with at every opportunity. Astro would trot over just in time for lunch every day looking for scraps, and in the mornings when we did reading, he would come into the classroom like he owned it, and climb into the kids' laps so that they would read aloud to him!

But Heaven help any strange man that tried to come into the classroom! Even though he was only ankle height at most, he would corner them and growl and snarl until I told him to let them in - best guard dog ever! The lab would just lick anyone to death.
