It always makes me wonder how much of the fic is based on real life and the authors fantasies.

Like actorwards, I always think that that is how the author wished she would meet Rob and how it would go.

I also wonder about straight women who get turned on by slash. Do they fantasize about their husbands/boyfriends with other men? Would she like just to watch or join in?

I don't have anything against it, I just don't understand, which makes me curious. I've been in therapy for so long I like to know more about how people work.

I really hope wisp has nothing to do with her life.
That would be tragic.

I read m/m, but I can only answer from my POV. I've never been one of those people who insert myself into the stories I read. I read for THOSE stories and characters, not because I wish I was them. So I don't insert myself or anyone I know into the stories that I read.

As to why I read m/m? Well, for one, it's different. You don't get TSTL heroines that so often pop up. And what is hotter than one hot man? Two hot men!

To be honest, I never, EVER thought I'd read m/m. I found it by accident. I was reading an erotic romance, a menage, and the men sexing each other was totally unexpected, both to me, and to the characters in the story. And it was HOT. So I looked up a couple more, and after a while, the woman just started seeming in the way, so I hunted up my first m/m story, and was hooked for the better part of two years.

I'm kinda on a break with m/m right now, catching up on all the hetero reads I missed, but I'm sure I'll be back to it soon!

I think it's worse when the author is younger. All those HS fics where Bella is a cutter or anorexic? Or when Charlie beats her up? I just want to give the author a big hug and I fear for them.

The best stories out there are based on reality, sad as it is sometimes...

I haven't read much slash, but honestly? I don't care about the gender of the couple. It's just about love between two or more people.
I admit that I skip many slash lemons though, cause I think it's a bit weird that they are probably written by some female writer that just read or thought about it.  ^-^
And no, I never fantasized about my hubby with another person, male or female!

Mmmmm

I don't like reading about Edward being gay cause it messes with my fantasies in every other fic I read.
I do imagine myself in some fics, so that may be it.
Not that I think myself as Bella. But I imagine the plot going on in my life, like having a sexy neighbor move in next door to me.
Or a coworker/colleague that flirts with me, etc.

But I guess that is one of those things you can't explain. That everybody is different and likes different things.

I don't mind reading about a gay couple, as long as it is not Edward. Lol.

I don't even care for m/f lemons anymore,  there are only so many ways you can describe a sex scene. "Harder, oh god, I'm coming".  After almost four years of fanfic, meh, it's basically all the same.

Also, most gay men I know ( unless they are not openly gay) are really effeminate. Like Matt bomer, he is gorgeous. But the way he turns his head to the side, it's so sweet. He is probably more feminine than I am. Lol

No I'm not butch. But I'm nor a girly girl. I'm not a sweet girl. I'm blunt and can be crass.

Ad you know men that spend more time getting ready than you do?

So those things are a turn off.

But gay men are better friends than women.

I'm with you on the Edward being gay.  I don't care if any other guy in the story is gay, just not Edward.  And? I usually read the first sex scene between the characters, after that I skim.  Some authors put all sorts of stuff in the middle of a sex scene LOL! If you don't at least skim it? You sometimes miss, oh I don't know, a proposal? Something funny?

And I have had gay friends.  Some can be great.  But some are just as catty and dramatic as another woman.

At this point, I don't see me reading M/M stories.  This could change.  But not anytime soon.  I always think it is such a waste  :D :D :D

Same here! I like reading the first time Bella and Edward have sex.

One of my best friend is lesbian. Or bi. She doesn't know. She still is so afraid of her mom that she can't sort herself out. Anyway, no dramas with her. Maybe that's the way to go. Have lesbian friends.

Lol

People are so complicated.

I don't have any gay friends so, I can't comment on that.  Although I have to say my Husband takes a hell of a long time getting ready for anything!

I am definitely not a girly girl.  I couldn't give a hoot what people think of the way I look as long as I am clean and clothed.   I love football - in the traditional sense of the word, and, have more male friends than female.  I have always got on better with males which is what makes this thread refreshing.

Even my parents have gay friends now. They say that some years ago it would be weird. Last year there were 3 gay guys on my house and my dad put Macho Man from village people on. He didn't even realize!

And now they hang out a lot with this gay couple.

Have you heard of grindr? That bothers me. The extreme promiscuity.

OMG! Just Googled it.  I just realized, most guys are brought up to be loose about sex.  You know - it's okay to have sex before marriage if you are a guy but not if you are a girl.  Or it's okay to have lots of sex partners if you are a guy but you are promiscuous if you are a girl.

So think about that.  And then make the guys gay.  What do you end up with?  Yeah, lost of sex with different partners.  And, of course, it is okay.   ::)

Scary with all the STDs around.  :-\

I'm cruel. When this friend finally confessed she had been in a relationship on and off with the same girl, sh got drunk to confess to me. Not because I'm judegemental, but because she can't accept herself.

The first thing I said was: as long as you don't hit on me we are fine.

I know it was hard for her. But it didn't change anything for me. I was bothered because the other lesbian, she suffered a lot when she came out, she is my friend but not as close. So she could really use a friend that knew what she was going thru. But she just listened and never said anything.

I've just seen Ella's post and really don't want to know!

This app is really scary. The guys posts pictures of their body. No faces. And then it shows where you are and the closes gay guy to where you are. And they just hook up.

It's really scary. Not only because of stds, but you can end up meeting a psychopath, a murderer and if you are lucky you might just get robbed.

The son of a family friend was visiting last year, with his parents, brother. And on Sunday, just after lunch before he went to the airport this guy came to pick him up.

He said it was a friend. But he just found the gay on the app. And left with him. A complete stranger. The only thing he knew about the guy was how toned was his stomach.

Man, woman, I don't care, that level of promiscuity is disgusting. He just doesn't hook up with a different guy every day because he is a doctor, so sometimes he spends more than 24 hours at the hospital.

I also heard there are sites now, like match.com but for cheaters. Just for casual sex.

It's weird, I actually love pics of guys being close- cuddly, kissing, I even like the odd BJ pics, but I don't really care to see the whole sex deal either, although I have seen some gay pr0n that's pretty hot. (have you SEEN my smutty tumblr? lol!)

Does stupid come with being gay?

I didn't think so, but geeze.  Yeah, sex with a stranger.  Okay, I guess there are girls that do that.  Go to a bar, get drunk, have sex.... Oh, wait...that was a recent fanfic I read.  For some reason it was okay because it was Bella and Edward.

Okay, feeling a little bad about my comments.  Though I do read a lot of murder mysteries and they start out that way a lot.  :D :D :D :D :D
