I was really wondering if I was the only one who found her annoying. Glad to know I'm not. Ficfangirl is so nice to them when they post all over the place.

i find those huge sparkly banners, and signatures, more annoying than the constant request for the same thing.

i mean, sometimes if you dont check here for a couple of days you might miss one post as you speed read through it all.

but those flasy things?

?? i dont think we are 12 yo girls anymore.

LOL! You are so wonderfully polite to them all. I just want to tell some of them to go away!

But then, I get annoyed when all they ever do is ask for stuff. And rarely do they thank those who find it. But then, some cultures never teach manners I guess.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who found the banner annoying. Thanks for saying what I was not brave enough to. Always afraid of offending people. It was bad enough to find it on one thread but I couldn't avoid it when it was on 3 and I was loathe to go to the latest posts on the threads I follow cos I knew I couldn't avoid it and it takes up all the screen.

I love helping people on here, mainly cos I don't get much chance to give back, but was I expecting too much for a quick reply with a thank you?

That was just wrong. And No, I dont think you were expecting to much to get a thank you. I rarely if ever get a chance to give out copies of books on here because these wonderful ladies are to fast.

This has happened to me SO many times on ADF. I'll PM someone to tell them I have the story they're looking for and they reply with an email address, only to never hear back from them with even a thank you once I've sent it. It's just so rude.

I don't normally reply to those, unless I know them from other posts. If it's fanfiction, I direct them to the threads.

I asked Drypen about it once. She said there are people who join then just PM people for stuff. It is okay to ignore it.

I'm with you. If I get a PM asking for fanfiction or a title/author on a story I direct them to the proper thread, but don't e-mail them if I don't know them. When you e-mail people stories, they have your personal e-mail address and if I haven't bonded with them on here, I really don't want them to have my personal e-mail address. I'm not paranoid, just a little cautious.

We all support each other with our fic addiction on here in so many ways. Every week I see a post that warns me an author is taking her stuff down or a fic I had given up on has suddenly been updated, downloads of stuff no longer available, recc's for good fics, etc. All this is part of being in the community and because I am grateful for like minded people it is only too easy to abide by the rules of the "club". I have taken baby steps to become part of this so I totally agree with what you said Ella, and from now on I will be wary if this happens again. Perhaps if any more "strangers" contact me I should refer them over here to be vetted first!!!

The other important part of all of this is we've accomplished all these things by being a community, working together, and helping each other. Me and the hubby have been reading through your post and PM's (which I will reply to, I promise) and are eternally grateful for all your kind words and thoughts.
I will try and get on here properly in the next few days as the hubby (and, yes my bossy Daughter) thinks it will do me some good to get of my head for a while, as he was really astonished by how kind everyone on here is and thinks that you will all help me, which I'm certain you will.
So once again, Thank you all so much - this just proves why we are so lucky to have PTS as people on here really are amazing.
