I've been in a bit of a fic slump this weekend so I took to reading real books.  It has been really hard detaching from Edward and Bella though - all the characters I read about displayed some similar characteristics to them.

I realised how hard it was to name the characters though.  Especially the lead male - I could not even imagine calling out some of those names in the throes of passion!

I didn't realise how strong and sexy the name Edward could actually be.

What are the worst lead male names you can think of?

I hate that Wallbanger became Simon when it was published. 

I must admit I haven't read the published version but, I agree with you on the Simon thing.

The problem is, that this is a personal viewpoint and different people have different opinions especially between countries.  I don't want to cause any offence to anyone but the names Trevor and Angus are a turn off for me.  Those are two of the lead characters I have read this weekend.  The stories were good though.   

When I think of the name Angus, I always see the guitarist for AC/DC, running around in his schoolboy uniform. Not sexy.

That or beef.

Trevor just sounds dull. Rich, pompous, and dull.

I get tired of the many fake posts. The person is an awful daughter/son the entire year. Then on birthdays and mother/father days they love each other so much.

Quite a week hence the MIA.

I had my surveillance audit this week. Both sons finished college on Tuesday for the semester.  Wednesday the youngest started his first job. Friday my oldest graduated from college, so we have been out of town since Thursday. Back today, clothes to wash, took a nap, and got some well deserved nooky. All is good.

Before i forget, pls do share the names of these books that were good. My mind does autocorrect to "Edward" if i don't like the character's name so i should be able to overlook it. 

I agree, it's all a matter of personal opinion so i hope i don't offend anyone when i say these things. Simon and angus both don't do it for me too. Maybe it's all bec of what you picture someone looks like based on the name due to a past experience. Have always associated Simon with Simon and Garfunkel...so i always picture someone old, a hippie/folk singer type which is so not my thing. Simon Cowell doesn't redeem that name for me. Angus is beef and so close sounding to that hole that does not see the light so...ewwww. For some reason, Allan, Edwin, Dick and Bob are just bleh for me too. maybe bec i had relatives or watched a movie and the character was not flattering, or pathetic or something that makes me think of them in a certain way that will never make me "interested" in them romantically. Just like when you hear the name Jeeves, must be an English butler/valet/asst. Certainly Iron Man has solidified that impression in my mind. 

After rewatching Crazy Stupid Love, the names Ryan and Jacob sure gets my radar working. Though Taylor Lautner does diddly squat for me (still think of him as Shark Boy), the character Jacob in twilight is a good name for me to fantasize over. Edward forever imprinted on me as THE romantic hero. The name Kellan too just bec that actor has a killer bod and i love Kellan in the Thoughtless books (the actor is the first time i ever encountered that name before, image strengthened by the SC Stephens character). Who knows, maybe my opinion will still change for Allan, Edwin, Dick and Bob, but after 40+ years of preconceived notions, i don't think that will change anymore. 

You are also very right in that countries/languages play a factor in these things. Like the name Kiki. It sounds like a name given to a rich, fun-loving, maybe even spoiled girl, right? Sorry to offend but in our language, that's slang for the vajayjay, akin to Americans using it as tw*t or c*nt. My extreme apologies to the fanfic writer kikiblue...i can't help but cringe when i encounter her name and wish that she doesn't visit my country as she will not get a straight face if ever she introduces herself here by that name.

My brother is Robert. I have nephews called Ryan and Jacob.

So I don't fantasise over names. 

Although this Jacob......yeah.

Yeah, you know i don't like Dick. 
We had a teacher in my HS, he was Fr. Dick. He was a big old jolly guy, reminded me of a fat older Treat Williams...but he's a priest...named Dick...at an all girls Catholic school.... yeah, you can imagine what fun times we had with that one.

See, i don't even remember Rob's other character names (except for Cedric) so Edward it will be then...

Those pouty lips and smouldering looks... *sigh* 

Guess who is finished with all their exams until next year? Oh yeaaah
