LOL! I don't like slave things either. I don't read BDSM stories because they p*ss me off. And personally, I just get angry and want to shoot them all. How dare they treat women that way. okay...*steps off soapbox*

I loved MoTU because she changed him. I don't mind the kinky stuff, especially when it is consensual, but I don't know. And Million Dollar Baby was consensual and Edward was sweet.

So you're saying skim through the first two chapters and it will get better? I will give it a try. I found a version in mobi. I think that was the other stalling point. I rarely read PDFs.

That's the reason I loved MoTU, I don't know what it was but this Edward was just so awww

And I didn't like the idea of Million Dollar Baby, I tried to read it but I just couldn't.

Million Dollar Baby was actually more like MoTU, so you will like it, I think. I remember Edward being really sweet to Bella in it. And he saves her from the gross guy and James at the beginning by buying her.

I think it was the fact that Bella was doing it to get money for cancer treatment for her mother. I guess I don't mind Bella selling herself if it is her decision to do it. I just don't like it when someone else forces her to do it.

That's why I loved this one! She gives Edward the run around, makes such a nice change from her pandering after him all the time. Hope your teeth stop hurting soon

I had heard about EP for a long time, as it was a WIP and I kept saying folks on my twitter saying how they were reacting so strongly to each chapter. I read the summary of the story and the slavery threw me off immediately. But then I kept hearing about it, and gave it a try. I remember I was sitting in bed reading and next thing I knew I was a few chapters in. I usually get super irritated and flounce stories with what I now refer to as "cliche-Bella" where the writers make her so shy and so 'weak' as in she won't stand up for herself ever, but EP Bella I loved. Mafiaward made me mad so much but in a 'grew-to-love-him' kind of way.

I think EP is a fic that divides opinions - people seem to either adore it or think it's completely over-rated. I personally didn't enjoy it much at all, but so many say it's their top fic of all time. I think I've read too many to have one of those

I haven't read EP or Fifty (FF or published)... I read so often that they are worth a try, but I'm not sure I want... there are soooo many fics and books out there that are more in my comfort zone, so why waste time on a fic I'm not sure I'll enjoy?

I only read fics where everything explicit intimate is 100% consensual, so slavery, prostitution, rape etc is a big fat no.

If I'm reading a fic and such a scene occurs, I need a huge spoiler so I can skip or read faster so that I get the point but not the description. I hate it when there are no warnings in the summary or at least in the beginning of a chapter!

It's officially Winter today! I have spent the morning snuggled in bed - lots of lemons, hot, a bit sweaty, short of breath, and a little sore and achy.

I wish it was as good as it sounds! My throat, nose and lungs think they want to be sick, but the rest of my body is listening to "Eye of the Tiger" and putting on an ugly brown tracksuit for this:

I'm enjoying The Real Life of E A Masen - I was actually reading in bed this morning, so I guess there were a few of fun lemons . . . just fictitious ones

The story is great, realistically told, humourous, really sweet and funny. Good lemons - but enough plot and character development to keep it interesting.

There are quite a few SPaG errors though - all the usual ones - shutter/shudder, its/it's, Masen/Mason confusion, apostrophes used to make words plural, etc. These are all things that I am aware of but can ignore in a fanfic. In the a/n, she has said she was looking for a beta, and she has just started thanking someone for pre-reading. I have to admit that I was surprised by the amount of errors - I have tweeted with the author a few times and I wasn't expecting them - but they really don't detract from the story, and I'm hoping they will occur less frequently now that someone is pre-reading.

I have actually laughed out loud as well - I was listening to it when I was driving home yesterday (thanks to the Voice Dream app) and was having a good old laugh in the car. I also love that the characters are roughly the same age as me - I'm loving the 80's and 90's pop culture references!

Ella - hope the drugs kick in soon. When you said you were sore from a visit to the dentist, I was wishing it was because of some happy fun times in the dentist chair:

I can do some rape, but it depends very much how it is portrayed.

Slavery in EP, no rape. Although some people doubt whether any slave can consent to sex. The way it's portrayed is consensual IMO.

Bella is born to a woman who was kidnapped and sold into slavery as a kid. At 16, she was raped by the son of the man who bought her and found herself pregnant with Bella. She wasn't treated too badly because they initially bought her to be a daughter, as the mother couldn't have any more kids after the son but they were criminals so they couldn't adopt.

The next chapter? The now grown son is looking to sell his daughter. This is where I stopped reading in disgust. I'm now told it gets better? She's 12. WTF? Excuse the language. Can I kill Charlie? Because I want to. A$$hole.

LOL! I really shouldn't read these and comment. My man-hating side comes out. Maybe I should look at pictures of the Pretty. It will calm me down.

I don't like fics where Bella is kidnapped/taken into slavery, and then ends up falling in love with her abuser.

I remember reading a really confronting one-shot - sorry, I can't think of the title - and Edward was definitely not the normal Edward - he was brutal and kept Bella as a captive for years - rape, abuse, assault. It was actually a really well-written story because it about Bella's fight to survive. There was no love in this one - and no HEA

Understandable. To each her own. I liked EP because it made me think about a custom I hadn't really thought about in 21st century terms and also the E/B romance was a slow build.

I cannot imagine reading EP as a WIP; it would kill me.
