Have you tried using You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  It works on most.  And it is online - very easy.  Nevermind.  It doesn't convert word files to much more than PDF, text or html


Otherwise, if you email it to your kindle? Amazon converts it for you automatically if I remember correctly.

If that converts to html, I don't see why the same would work, you can just eliminate the Word step. So maybe convert to html via that site, then add to calibre and convert to epub/mobi?

Do you have a gmail account?  For the pesky .doc files that are a pain to convert, I'll email the file to myself (gmail) and then view in google docs.  Once it's open, I'll save it as a pdf file.  If I want to convert it to another format, then I just use Calibre to convert the pdf.

Oh, I hoped you knew an easier way... I've to download them to another computer first because my netbook freezes as soon as I only mention Word...  So, this clearly will have to wait till I have much free time... Scheiße (is s h i t in German, I just wanted to see if this board is bilingual  )

No, sorry, that's the only way I've figured out how to convert it so far.

No, I have the same problem.  It all depends on the original conversion to the PDF.  Most of the older PDF's will drop the second L.  Some of the newer ones don't.  All the ones from Storymaster that I've tried  do drop the second L but Flagfic usually converts okay.  I have had better luck with convertfiles than will Calibre, but it isn't consistent.  So I don't know what to say.

I used to only download mobi because I have a Kindle.  But then I got the Nook tablet, so now I have a mix of epub and mobi.  The only PDF's I have are the ones I've gotten from others.  I really hate PDF - they do weird things on my Nook and the print is way too small to read on the Kindle.

Though I guess if I only read on the computer, PDF would be okay.  Yeah, probably not

LucyLu, and other Jasper fans, have yall read Accidental by evenflo78? It was mentioned in the non-canon thread so I read it, and it was really good! It wasn't very long, you can read it in an hour, it's well written, it tells a different from usual story, and I really liked it.
