Wow...

If people are pulling down their stories because of this spam letter I have to chuckle a little.

Talk about the foxes guarding the henhouse... 

Mature is a relative term....

For the record... FanFiction won't permanently pull a fic unless it features

a) a minor having sex with a family member or an older 'authority figure' character
b) the scene isn't there to glorify incest and sexual abuse.. i.e. make incest 'sexy')
c) non-consensual sex that it intended for purely salacious intent. (ie no rape scenes for the sake of malicious and lascivious entertainment.)

Case in point For the Summer by camoozle isn't at risk, nor was Just Wait by InstantarmaGirl, because the way the author deals with this as part of the subject matter. 'Just Wait' had incest, rape, drug abuse, to name a few, but was still within the M guidelines.


 It's all about the author's intentions, and what is their writing is communicating to the reader.

I'm all for freedom of expression, and I am vehemently against censorship, but that said.... there is a need for for the author to have a basic understanding the difference between PWP, misogynistic sadism and hate speech.

It all comes down to what are the author's intentions when dealing with sex and violence. If they want to explore the topic, such as sadism in sex purely as an exercise in curiosity, then they should

...find another suitable venue.

Basically ... if the writers doesn't demonstrate they understand the complexity behind taboo subjects.. ... then it's probably puerile sexism and even hate speech, whether the writer meant to, or not.

Think of why there is a difference between what's allowed on X-tube vs Youtube, or the content of Playboy compared to Hustler... Of course there is a place for stuff but having full access to the 'general' public? It isn't appropriate.

Getting yanked down with no warning....? I doubt it.
When Ffn is notified of a problem they give the author a chance to respond to the complaints.

FanFiction usually asks the author to make changes, and the author always has the opportunity to prove themselves, and argue their case.

Hide and Drink has 'dubious consent' subject matter, but it was never at risk. Why? How the author addresses the topic: with 'M'aturity.

CaraNo's Isla de Cullen failed to demonstrate that Edward (her Father's friend btw) was not forcing her (dubious consent with a minor), FYI, and CaraNo chose not to make changes. That's her decision.

Many authors just choose to flounce. I wish they wouldn't. They should defend their artistic integrity and stand against these accusers. By leaving, they are accepting 'the charges' against their writing.

For the record... Master of Universe was 'asked' to make changes by FanFiction, which the author complied with. Icy just chose to post on her own website, once Angst Goddess finished building it for her.

Many of the types of changes FanFiction wanted her to make are still present in her book '50 Shades of Grey'. Her book is Not rated X because her published book follows the M rating guidelines. In fact... the story could be reposted on the FanFiction site if she ever wanted to because of how she addresses the topic.

It's all about understanding your target audience and making your intentions clear.  As authors we are expected to write with integrity and insight.

Or just blow it all out the window and write PWP for the slush pile at another venue. When Twi-Kink ran their contest, they made sure to set up a separate web site. That way the authors could go full blazes. There is an important place for this sort of 'crazy' Twific writing, and FanFiction isn't the right place for it. Smart writers know this.

I want grown-up stories too...  written by grown-up and insightful writers. Griddy

I hate to break it to you, but these ARE teenagers for the most part (male AND female). If you read through their posts, you would know this. I don't know why you continue to discount what others post on here, but you've done it twice to me and countless times to others. The suicide story I related IS true, whether you want to believe it or not because the woman was friends with a friend of mine. Maybe you know of another; I don't know. The disgusting words these CHILDREN spew on the Klan forum are those of CHILDREN who clearly lack the reasoning skills of an adult and don't understand how to have an argument with respect. FYI: I mentioned irishchicka1 not because of her stories (haven't read them, nor care to), but because of the way they treated her.

He has been collecting stats on our fandom for years, taking info off the writers bio, and yes, fixated on 'us' and sometimes stalking women in the Twific community.

FanFiction Admin started putting warnings on our bio info sites (sign in and look at where it states you should not put your name or other info on there) because of this guys 'spying' and phishing activities. If you've ever had a glimpse into his private chat rooms... you would not be taking him lightly, or think he's just some crazy 'gay' teenager. Very lulzy as he would say, for being such suckers.

They are organized hackers and they have an agenda. Get rid of women in our Twilight fandom by sending one computer destroying virius at a time. He calls us 'Cac's' for Create a Cat (pronounced like cack)... and has probably cracked into and infiltrated the Ffn Admin site more than once.

Walk softly and carry a big firewall. Don't click on anything suspicious, because sometimes those links allow them to track you. and your computer's IP number.

It's the last time I'll warn you guys about this group. I can tell many of you don't want to hear it, or want me gone before I expose them while they write their maths exams....
