Okay, so I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computers. I just deleted some fics from a flash drive (no idea which ones), and have also effectively 'hidden' files trying to recover said files. Is anyone on this thread good with computers, and can tell me of any ways to undo my huge, stupid errors? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I'm assuming you are on a Windows system.  I'm no good with Macs.  Is it the files that are hidden or the icons on the screen?

To show hidden files, in Windows 7, open a window - doesn't matter what - i.e. My Computer, Documents, whatever - under Organize select Folder Options. Under View select "Show hidden files" then uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"  This should make your previously hidden files visable.  In prior versions, you can find Folder Options under View, I believe.  Or you can search for Folder Options using the search option in the start menu (that circle in the bottom left corner)

To show screen Icons, right click anywhere in the open screen, under View, click on "Show Desktop Icons"

All that said, I don't know how to recover deleted files from a flash drive.  I deleted one off a SD card & it didn't show up in my recycle bin.  Sorry.

Scarlett, I know you're on vacay, but just wanted to tell you I've done the same thing!   I've also been guilty of taking a pencil and changing the names in books!

Thank you so much! I managed to 'unhide' the folders on my own (took forever for me to figure out!), and I was able to find a reliable program that is allowing me to view what was deleted. Thankfully not a lot is gone, and I have a back-up on my desktop of most of them, and I can say that I'm not completely hopeless when it comes to computers
