Hi Everybody
« on: May 18, 2012, 06:27 AM »
Well, I've just relised that I've been a member of this forum for about a month now, and I haven't even bothered to introduce myself.  I know, I know how rude of me?

Well, better late than never!

Hi, I'm DarkGuyver and I'm an alcoholic.... HAHAHA just kidding.  I thought I would add a little humour to my introduction.

DarkGuyver, as some of you will probably relise from my screen name, I am a fan of the Guyver anime/manga francise.

I found this forum, while searching for more Tess Gerritsen (yes, I watch Rizzoli & Isles) eBooks for my Sony PRS-350 eReader, which I got a couple of months ago.  But found a surprisingly large amount of books for my eReader, which I am honestly thankfull for.

Besides reading, I like watchin action, sci-fi, thriller movies and TV shows.  I'm a martial artist, I'm a 3rd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, and I currently study Lin Kuei martial arts (a Chinese martial art, which is the ancester of Japanese Ninjitsu).  I'm a videogamer, I'm a fan of Street Fighter, Bayonetta, God Of War, Soul Calibur, House Of The Dead, and the Need For Speed games (in particular the Underground series, and Most Wanted).

I'm very knowledgable about computers so if you have any questions about computers or computer related problems post a topic and I will see what I can do for ya.  I'm also a technology nut, so any related technology discuss are game.

I hope to meet some new friends here and share some of my collection of eBooks which may be of interest to others.

It's like I said to another person who was sure I was talking about them:  where do you see your name in some blabbermouth?    It's like we use to say in the Navy, When you assume you make a a** out of u and me.

unless I state your name directly, I ain't talkin' about you.

Now would you like to peach on yourself about all the stuff you did that makes you think that? :)

LOL. I know. But well... :D I always got that moment where I say whatever it's on my mind and think about it after I said it. lol. That's why I sometimes got in trouble. ;D

It's surpositly a collection of books, which were rejected from the Bible by the commitee who were in charge of deciding which books will be included in the Bible.  I haven't read it either, but I've done a bit of research about the book.

And you gals blame me for being a bad influence!  >:(
No, I think you aren't a bad influence^^ relax DG,

I see :/  what made you so interested in the books?

And everyone, ppl, or whoever reads this, I'm very sorry because I typed something inappropriate before! I apologize.. I'm learning my lesson  :-X

To tell you the truth, I only became interest in those books after reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Since most of the murders committed within the story often reference Bibilcal texts.

I don't think that was the case with the collection of books which made up the Apocrypha, well maybe that was one of the cases which the Catholic Church rejected them.  But I also believe some members of the committee who were involved in the selection process of which books would make it into the Bible found them irrelevant or maybe because those books contradicted with various different gospels which make up the Bible as we know it today.

Honestly you don't have to read the Bible at all before you read the Millennium Trilogy as it's just the 1st Book (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), which has reference to the Bible.  That said you still don't need to read the Bible to enjoy the books.  I just checked the Bible to see if it contain those quotes in the story.  ;D

Yeah it's pretty easy to get comfused about these sort topics when it comes to religious texts.  My interested kinda peek when the Apocrypha was 1st mention during the 2nd part of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Which is what lead me to do a ton of research with regards to it and the Bible.

A note.  You might find the Bible very confusing if you are trying to read it for the first time.
I would never recommend reading it to enjoy another book if you are NOT familiar with it.  If they reference the story in the bible then I would go to that reference and read that.

The Bible esp the Old Testament is redacted.  What that means is it is fragments of other books that were put together by a redactor to create a single book.   For example in Genesis you will find there are 3 Different creation stories if you look closely at it.  The easy way to tell is what they use for the name of God.  The newest editions have changed it to God but in the older text you will find Lord God, Lord and God.  They all came from different books.

The oldest fragment is the Song of Deborah.  We think it might be authentic and sung in her tents.

You missed Philo's 16 going on 45 then. Dont worry about the language tho. :D
Poor Red why does everyone target her for it? She's always the one telling others to mind their languages and content coz of me. Seriously. Like I'm 6 and dont know Santa Claus doesnt exist. :o Though I appreciate it, its v. nice of her to try to protect my innocence or whatever :P

Oh, just an ingrained thing to protect our "kids", Mia!  But I can remember thinking the same thing when I was your age, though ... GAWD, if that doesn't make me feel old... :P :D

That is pretty perfect.
I think even though parents say their kids are naughty creatures, no good....they like to think the children are little :angels:
But thats good..being under suspicion would really...err...suck :P

BTW what did you do in the Navy? ??? Episodes! please? :azn: i do like your coffee tales!
