I just finished reading "Caged" by Savage :) Sooooo good. Anyhoo, I was perusing/snooping her faves and came across this little gem. It's a WIP but it's soooooo good :) She updates daily and the chapters are short and sweet

Summary ***I don't know if I'm a hoarder or not, but the house is ridiculous. There's stuff all over the floor. It's everywhere. There's no place to put anything, so it's hard to even begin to figure out how to put anything away...Edward desperately needs help. When professional organizer Bella Swan takes on the job, will Edward get more out of their relationship than just a clean house?***

I've been following that but haven't started reading because, well, drabble annoys me. I usually wait for it to be almost done unless I trust the author to update or I stupidly get caught up in it - yeah, I'm following 2 now and getting annoyed with the constant cliff hangers.  :-\

I agree with both of you, but this one just caught my eye... I love Brokenward and I have so many stories on the go it won't be too much if I need to go back and read any chapters :)

The annoying cliffies make me flounce until it's complete

I'm the same with drabbles - I usually wait until they're complete or nearly complete but I've been totally sucked into SoapyMayhem's latest one. At least she updates 3/4 times a day!!  :)

I have SoapyMayhem on follow, but I haven't read any of hers yet.  I guess I should start.

I'm a little weird in that I am sometimes afraid to start a new story. What if I don't like it in the first chapter? If I flounce too soon will I miss a great story? What if it's not what I'm in the mood for? What if I don't know what I'm in the mood for????? I did say I was weird  ;)

Not weird. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for the same genre of story and I flounce. The possibility of going back to one is slim. My problem is, if I lost interest before I can't try a re read  :(

I'm looking for a story where everyone is human and someone tells the Cullen teens that Bella (who is their friend) is spreading rumors about them. She told that Jasper had been kidnapped when he was younger, but she couldn't have since she didn't know about it. They get mad at her and then later find out it was all lies. I would really like to read this story again. :-*

Constant misuse of words drives me nuts. I read one the other day that kept using the word bare for bear. They kept talking about "baring" children. perverts. :P
Overwritten love scenes will make me stop reading. Really crappy dialogue is the worst for me. I hate when they make the characters say things that normal people wouldn't say or make the conversation so stilted because they are scared to use contractions.  Oh, and the misuse of 's. Seriously, how hard is it to remember that if it doesn't own something, it doesn't get an apostrophe????
And I get really annoyed when I see a fic recommended over and over, go start reading it, only to find it's full of all of the above. There are several that I started in the last few weeks that were recs from here and in the a/n notes of other fics that I could only read a few chapters of before I had to quit.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all the uploads and links.

One of my biggest pet peeves when reading fanfics is the use of the word "defiantly" instead of "definitely".

I will have to read Caged.  I am about 100 pages in to Shadowboxer.  It's okay. The story is good, but the writing's not the greatest. I am hoping I can stick with it, because I AM really into the story, but geez. She said Edward looked pennant. Did she mean pensive? or repentant? It could have gone either way. In some places there is a serious lack of commas, in others, way too many.

As a side note, I don't usually like to read WIP, but I read High Fidelity last night by Ireen H. There are 17 chapters posted so far, and I read them all last night. Amazing. One of the best stories I have read so far. Absolutely beautiful. It's extremely angsty, but wow, I was blown away by how well she wrote E & B. Both characters are extremely f*cked up, but in ways you can relate to, even if you've never experienced it yourself.
"God, if he wasn’t so handsome, strong,
sometimes sweet, didn’t have a Harley, that beard, a tendency to play with my hair, didn’t look so good in jeans and wasn’t so danged good in bed, he would seriously not be worth it."

I guess a lot of us are in total agreement on this. B&E belong together, no slash, no daddy abuse and no cheating.
I do hate to flounce because Ff is an outlet for wannabe writers to hone skills, for people who just have a story and want to tell. It really is hard remembering the aforementioned when you you see poor, repetitive storylines and simple spelling errors. I read where an Ff writer said she would not go back to correct errors because it showed growth when compared to her later writings.  I thought that was hilarious! She had grammar, spelling errors every paragraph. Get over yourself, I really wanted to say back.
Listen, I do appreciate FF writers because they provide sooooo much entertainment and fun for me. I don't totally bash and I do believe some writers actually want and appreciate constructive criticism. I wish I were that brave to really put fingers to keyboard and put some of these ideas down that are rolling around in my head.

Yeah, I have to give it a while before I can go back. And it depends on if I flounced because I wasn't in the mood or if it just bored me.  I'm less likely to retry if I was bored.  :P

You've made some thoughtful comments about the writers.  I admire all the writers, good and bad, for being willing to put their work out there for others to read and enjoy.  It's an incredible act of bravery and none of them deserve to be flamed.  If the story is no good  or too error-riddled to be enjoyable, or simply not my cup of tea, I just skip it.  I don't feel a need to criticize the writer.  If the storyline is interesting, I'll skim or read, depending on the skill of the writer.  I only review sporadically and, generally, it's to praise something I really liked.  I don't believe the majority of the writers are really interested in constructive criticism and they really don't want to hear about their grammatical and word use errors.  So I don't incur their wrath because I'd rather be reading.  I do try to be supportive and also give thanks for sharing when I've finished a story.  While I believe most of the writers are posting for their own enjoyment, they did share and deserve thanks for that.

That is exactly how I am. FicFangirl. One time one freaking time I lost my cool like a year and half ago and left a horrible review on a really good story, (I just hated what she had the character do) I felt horrible, guilty, you name it. The story is written amazingly so I had no reason to do other than PMS lol. No if I get mad I click the X at the top of my browser and flounce. I don't ever want to be that person.  (Except in the case of a story detailing rape with NO Warning) then I'll be a complete witch especially if I'm PMS'ing. It takes a lot to put yourself out there as a writer and I don't want to be the one that berates anyone that could go somewhere given the chance. *shrugs*

I believe all of CaraNo's  fics are uploaded.  If you go back to the original 152 Twilight fanfics page (link at top), put CaraNo in the search box on the right hand side of the page and search This Topic, you'll get all the links.  It's easy and fun.  You won't learn how to do it if you don't try. (I got 45 hits)

Edit:  My first response probably sounded a bit more abrupt than I meant it.  I was on my way out the door.  We do encourage people to search before requesting stories.  If, after you've searched, you can't find something specific, please come back and ask.  Someone here will be happy to point it out to you or upload it if it's not already on the site.

Welcome to the community.
