Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

It was probably just ill-timed when Love and a Big Green Bag came out.  I was enjoying it until Kristen's little stunt.  If I went back and started from the beginning now, it would probably be fine and I'll whiz right through it.   I just have to carve out some time to get back to reading fics again.  I'm currently trying to catch up on regular reading and pare down on the books which are taking up space that I need for other stuff - and trust me - I have huge tbr piles.

Why do some authors feel the need to keep pounding into our brains that the vampires have a dead/un-beating heart or that they are undead? I've been reading one author's stories for the last two days. And in both of the fics I've picked of hers she is constantly telling us about the character's dead heart & tears that will never fall.  I get it once in a while. But every time she mentions this person's feelings she makes it a point to say that "it struck a chord in my dead heart".  We know the character is a vamp. We know the heart doesn't beat.  It could have just been "it struck a chord in my heart".

What is stupid is I have no idea why it bothers me so much. I haven't flounced over it. But, honestly one more mention of how they are un-dead or that their heart doesn't beat... and I might. *sigh*

Sorry, rant over.

Oh I feel the same way. I think every single vamp fic I've ever read ha an undead heart trying to beat and eyes shiny with tears that can never fall.  But what I see even more is the unnecessary breath. Especially during sexy times! Heaving with unneeded breaths, taking an unnecessary breaths, etc etc. Every. Single. Fic.

I've tried so many times to read this one and just can't do it. First 11 chapters were great then the entire story changed and just gave me a major headache.

Yes, I started this one w-a-y back and just left. Can't even remember why now. So it must have been a real stink-o.

I've tried to read The Ex Factor about 10 times and just can't get into it and since it is almost 800k words, I have no desire to push through or skim.  Obviously many people liked it, it has over 9,000 reviews.

This is another on my TBR list that never gets read. It has never grabbed me in the first few pages so I go on to the next story. I do this to a lot of "popular" stories. And it sometimes is just that I don't want to read angsty stuff much right now. Too many angsty school books make me want something a little lighter most of the time. :)

Then again 9K reviews on a story that long doesn't always mean that much. Just that there are lots of chapters. ;)

The Ex-Factor was the first fanfiction story that I read. I really enjoyed it, and have read it several times. I do know that the story isn't for everyone. There are some SPaG issues but for me, they weren't that bad and I could over look them.

There are only 40 chapters but they are long, and the last one is a teaser, of sorts for the sequel but it hasn't been posted.

I'm debating right now whether to flounce or not...an author who I like a lot has a new story, and she is doing one of my least favorite things.  She is changing the way Bella looks (I don't like when Edward is changed either), making her skin "caramel" "the color of honey".  Bella is supposed to be pale, remember almost vampire.

When I am so desperate for something to read, this makes me very sad......and frustrated  :banghead:

Am I being overly critical?

I can deal with Bella having a tan. But there's a football story where Bella and Edward are described as black eyed, tan skins, and black hair. I say it's a misnamed Jake/Leah story. I never get past the first chapter.

Then there's Snowbound by Edwards Eternal where both E/B have blue/grey eyes. Similar to the real color of Rob/Kristen. I can deal a little better - especially since she doesn't mention the color much.  ;D

But yeah, differences in appearance is definitely a flounceable offense LOL!

*Nods* It definitely can be flounceable for me too.  I also don't really like too OOC stories, as I find that if they're too extreme, they're really original fiction using Twilight names, places and other traits.
One of the rare few....

I agree, totally flounceable when they act too OOC, I read fic for a reason, because I love the characters and the world. I'll read real books if I want different characters.

Finally gave up one on today. Just can't stand the Bella anymore. Bella is Bella, but to the nth degree, and I just can't stand it anymore.

It's a Bella/?

Thought I could deal with it even if Bella ends up with Edward. Which she shouldn't.

New story. A WIP. I've enjoyed the humor and the snark. I like the way this writer writes. I've enjoyed her other stories. Like how she treated Jacob (mostly), though he's no longer a consideration in the story. Even like how she has characterized the other players: Carlisle, Rose, Emmett, Jasper—even the other characters she created for the story.

I got a little snippy about Bella in a couple of reviews and decided I shouldn't do that. It's not nice. Since I always try to review what I read, decided I would ignore the crap that Bella was doing and find something else to mention that I did like. Like a line I thought was funny or something.

I can no longer stand Bella! I'm outta there.

I actually tried to keep reading, ignoring the appearance change, BUT........She also has Bella throwing around these Spanish phrases that feel forced and phony.  They make the character unrealistic and ruin the flow of the story.  This is an author I usually really, really like so it makes it even more disappointed because I expected better.

Might be time to just let it go. If you don't like it, you don't like it. You'll find something else.

I should mention she's up to chapter 52 and Bella's dithering ... Should she choose Carlisle. Should she choose Edward. If she chooses this one, that one will be unhappy and it might break up the family. If she chooses that one, this one will be unhappy and it might break up the family.

(For this Bella, Carlisle would be a much better match. Being the grown-up and all.)

(Well Bella, how 'bout taking some of that Cullen money and just friggin' leave, eh?)

There's a mystery semi-brewing with a wolf / former wolf from La Push. It's hardly been mentioned. But Bella is driving me so batty, I don't even care what happens with the La Push guy. (Not Jacob.)

ARRRRGH.

Okay. I'll shut up.
