Ok folks, list em here. Fics that you have flounced, and why you flounced them. Help keep others apprised of the good, the bad, and the badly edited. :-*

Okay, I'm giving up. Sorry to all those who loved this story, but I'm flouncing. Nothing happens in this fic except B&E fall in love. That's it. And since that happened in the first half of this fic, nothing has been happening except a reiteration of that love chapter after chapter. I just don't care anymore. If you are looking for an all fluff story that is technically written well but with absolutely no drama or angst, this is for you. "My precious little perv" "My Jezebel" I love you. I love you. Isn't he so perfect?  She's so perfect. UGH!

And if any more tears flow out of this girl's eyes because of his perfection, she's going to die of dehydration. Seriously.

I really dislike fics (and books) that get the couple together too fast, and then spend the next however long with them mooning over each other. I like UST and to watch them fall in love, and whatever angst comes from that. Once they're in love, I need something more to keep my interest than just "I love you", "I love you more" "you're so perfect" yadda yadda yadda.

The whole Edward and Angela thing pi.ss.ed me off so much.
It was completely unnecessary.
I never regreted so much reading a fic.

I flounce this one after chapter 4 or 5, when Bella meets the King and Queen (?) and they act like the most adoring in-laws. I know there are many who adore this story, but t could have been so much better and believable. Honestly, it was a bit boring at some points...  I didn't even got to Angela, but I'm intrigued now, someone please spoil it for me?

Angela is Bella friend.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I stopped reading after that. There was something to do with Aro as well... I think Edward lost a battle to Aro...
So he is being forced to have a child...

Thank you for spoiler! I wanted to read it but now I will just delete it from my tbr list and find something better. The very thought of Edward and Angela together makes me sick.

What are reasons y'all will flounce a fic?  I have flounced a few in my time. Generally due to really bad spelling or a general need of a beta.  I do have a few pet peeves that if a fic has too many of them I  will flounce.

The use of their, there, they're wrong.
Two, too & to as well.

A big pet peeve is when people make Emmett's last name McCarthy. It is McCarty. I don't know why that one bothers me so badly but it does. Once or twice isn't too bad but when every time they mention him they call him Emmett McCarthy... it drives me batty.  LOL

The fic I'm reading right now, I'm only 44% through it and I'm considering flouncing. Not for any of these reasons but, because after being friends with each other all summer long Edward & Bella finally got together and they are overdoing it with the baby, sweetheart & honey names... every single time they refer to each other. Like they don't have a name anymore.  It just seems overkill.  Granted, I could just be PMSing and just need to step away from the book but at the same time I'm wondering if it will continue on for the remaining 56% of the book and if so... I can't deal with that crap.

Anyone want to spoil me and let me know if Illegal Contact by GreenEyedGirl17 You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is going to continue being sappy or will normal out once their relationship as a couple is more established?

Thoughts on the story?

I really liked illegal contact.
I can't remember about the sugary sweetness tho.

The main reason I flounce  are weak  plots and immature writing.

I hate when Edward is called MasOn instead of Masen. And normally when they call him Mason they will also call him Masen in the same fic.  >:(

I can be forgiving about spelling and grammar, cause people are writing for free... But it has a limit. If I'm paying more attention to the mistakes than to the plot it certainly is a reason to flounce.

Agreed! I can't stand it when they do the Mason thing too.  I haven't flounced for that. But it does bother me.

I'm really liking the plot idea of Illegal Contact. But, so far they have been together one night and it is honey this, baby that.  It just seems a bit overkill.  Maybe I should just put this fic off to the side for a week and then come back and finish it.  Though, I did that with Take the Ice by Bellamarie117 and I haven't gone back... yet to finish it. I plan to so I won't call that one a flounce.  It was just a bit long and was starting to overwhelm me.

and it is really a good story. Different, but good. But I put it aside, becuse I'm just not in the mood for it.  It's not sugarsweet fluff and humour and that's what I want to read at the moment. I just don't want to deal with angst, drama etc.... It isn't even that bad, but too much for me atm..

So, I'll keep it in my list for when I'm in the mood...

It doesn't bother me when they spell the last names wrong, but I'm very annoyed when they don't get the first names straight. Emett, Cauis, Emse etc makes me mad, especially when it's obvious that they'll write it that way the whole story...  :-\

Things that can make me flounce.....

When an author doesn't know when to end the story and goes on and on and on, eventually ruining what had been a good story.  I lost interest in soap operas a long time ago, I certainly don't want to read one.

Too much verbiage - excessive details with little purpose or story progression.

I hate when an author makes Bella or Edward look different from how they are described in the books, like Bella with blue eyes.  If it is mentioned once, I just try to forget it, but if it said often - I quit. I think some authors use this as a way to project themselves or the objects of their desires into the story.

Smoking, as I've mentioned here before - if it us just in passing I can sometimes ignore it, but when it becomes a lazy way for authors to give the character a crutch or simply go outside - I'm gone.

Too many cutesy names and their overuse.  One that I have ignored many times because of a good story, but that makes my skin crawl is "Baby Girl" in fics where Bella is barely legal and Edward is over 30 (or 40) - it sounds like a father talking to a daughter and screams pedophile not loving partner in a relationship.  I have even pointed it out in PMs to the authors, but I must be the only one feeling icked out by it (or the only one saying it).

SG&P - go without saying, autocorrect can only be blamed for so much.

Those are some of my reasons.  Thank you for letting me share.

I get that some people are bothered with smoking/smokers, but I actually find it quite surprising that there aren't more smokers in fics. I mean more than 60% people I know are smokers, even occasionally. When you meet a smoker in a fic, it will probably be a bad-@ss, bad boy type of character. ???

I dislike mainly E/B smoking and when it is used as I said as a lazy writers way to get the character outside or a crutch.  Almost no one I know smokes anymore and since so many young people read fanfic it isn't good to make it seem cool.  Even the bad asses I know don't smoke.  It has just been something I have disliked all my life - I know not everyone agrees, if we all agreed on things, how boring would that be?

I am a smoker, but I realise why people dislike it. (For what is worth I am trying to quit...) It just surprises me that there are no more smokers in fics, it makes the story and the characters seem less realistic to me. And I am not talking only about Bella and Edward, but for all characters involved in a fic. There will always be a colleague that needs a cigarette break, a friend who will ask if he can smoke in the house etc. That (almost) never happens in fic. Then again maybe the authors don't focuse on it, but especially when it comes to stories that actually seem believable, it takes part of the fun away. Am I making any sense?

Then again, it seems like smoking might not be such a big thing in other countries/cultures.

It's not enough to make me flounce, but I always hate it when a fic author gives thanks to the author, but gets her stinking name wrong. I've seen Stephanie instead of Stephenie, and Meyers instead of Meyer. If you're going to write in someone else's world, at least get the author's name right when you credit her for the world.

I was always the only one among all my friends AND my family that didn't smoke. I never have, but I have had people argue with me that I did. One guy asked to borrow a light, told him I didn't smoke, and he proceeded to argue with me for several minutes! I think I'd know if I were a smoker!

Given where I live, smoking seems to be being phased out, but I do know people who smoke.

What you say does make sense, but I think it depends on where you live.  Where I live, smoking is in the minority and among the people I associate with it is as well.  Of course if you go to bars, clubs and such you may see it, but not so much at restaurants, malls and the like.
One of the rare few....
